There was nothing to guess.
Azula didn't know what that strange technique was—the one that could absorb and redirect lightning and fire—but she had seen something like it before.
Iroh had used it once, back when she devised her plan to capture Zuko. It left a deep impression on her.
And now this guy named Kahn knew it too.
He had to be connected to Iroh.
Since that was the case, there was no need for further conversation.
"Attack together!"
Azula barked the command, instantly surging forward with her iconic blue flames. Mai and Ty Lee sprang into action beside her.
Mai flicked her sleeves—dozens of throwing knives shot out, slicing toward Kahn. Their speeds and angles varied, each aimed at a vital point.
Kahn dodged smoothly, weaving between the blades.
But when the last knife flew past him, he realized he had nowhere left to evade.
Mai's true intention.
"Boom!"
Azula's blue fire smashed into Kahn's orange flames. The explosion lit up the night sky like sunrise.
Her cold blue fire was as overwhelming as ever.
Normal fire could only resist for a moment before being smothered. The impact forced Kahn back several steps.
And right then—
Ty Lee's silhouette emerged behind him like a ghost, fingers aimed precisely at his chi points.
She had slipped into position long before the attack, lurking in the dark as soon as Azula gave the order.
Their teamwork was terrifying—each strong alone, but together their coordination made them nearly unstoppable.
Anyone else would have been trapped.
Of course… that was wishful thinking.
"Got you."
Kahn smiled, as if he truly had eyes on the back of his head. He snatched Ty Lee's wrist mid-strike.
"Eh?!"
Ty Lee yelped as he yanked her forward, tapped several joints in her arm and leg, then swung her entire body straight into Mai—sending both crashing to the ground.
He'd been friends with them for years in his own world. Their fighting style? Their patterns? Their tricks?
He knew everything.
And he had only pretended to play along so he could take Ty Lee out of the fight first.
Azula was the strongest of the three, yes. But the most dangerous?
Ty Lee.
Under Chi Blocking, all people were equal. Techniques, strength, bending—none of it mattered once your chi pathways were disabled.
Even with his movement techniques, Kahn had no interest in constantly dodging.
Removing Ty Lee early was simply the best option.
Azula's expression twisted.
Kahn had not only seen through their coordination—he had used Chi Blocking himself.
"Chi… Blocking?!"
Far Away — The Avatar Team
"Kahn's Firebending is insane! That fire waterfall was so cool!"
"What about that lightning?!"
"How is he even reflecting lightning?! Is that Firebending too?!"
"That explosion was terrifying!"
"Why does it sound like thunder? Is it going to rain?!"
"Wait—why does Kahn also know that weird technique?!"
The emotions of the Avatar Team rose and fell like a roller coaster—shock, awe, confusion, excitement.
They could barely breathe from the intensity.
Only Toph stayed calm.
She could sense movements through the ground, sure—but she couldn't see the incredible visuals.
And everyone else freaking out was confusing her more and more.
She grumbled loudly:
"Hey! Is someone gonna explain things to the poor blind girl?!"
"I told you earlier," Katara replied, "one of the opponents can use a strange technique that stops people from bending. And Kahn just used it."
Katara hesitated.
"Is that some kind of Fire Nation martial art?"
"If it were, the Fire Nation would've conquered the world already," Sokka snorted.
Then he frowned thoughtfully. "I have a feeling Kahn knows them."
Katara snapped back, "He already said he knew them before!"
"That's not what I mean," Sokka corrected. "I mean… they might have some special relationship. And that's why he's hiding things from us."
"You're not saying he's a spy again, are you?!"
"Of course not!"
Sokka waved his hands frantically.
"If he was a spy, with how strong he is, we would've been captured ages ago. But he is hiding something."
"I believe Kahn is on our side," Aang said firmly.
He kept his eyes on the battlefield, per Kahn's earlier instructions. "Whatever he's hiding… I trust he has a reason. Worst case, we ask him later."
"For now, let's just keep watching."
Back on the Battlefield
Ty Lee lay sprawled across Mai, looking weak and dazed.
"Why does he know it too?! That's impossible!"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that, Ty Lee?"
Azula's cold gaze snapped toward her, full of suspicion.
Chi Blocking was Ty Lee's own secret technique. The only way someone else would know it was if Ty Lee taught them.
Ty Lee's little brain finally pieced that together. Her face drained of color.
"I—I didn't teach him! I swear! I don't know him! I have no idea what's going on!"
"You had better be telling the truth."
Azula's tone was calm, but the threat beneath it made Ty Lee shiver.
"Can this wait until after the fight?"
Mai gently pulled Ty Lee up, positioning herself between her and Azula. Her monotone voice carried a hint of disapproval.
Azula turned her glare toward Mai instead—only looking away when Mai's eyes flinched.
Watching all this, Kahn felt something unpleasant twist in his chest.
This Azula—this world's Azula—still lived under Ozai's thumb.
The Azula from his own world, though flawed, would never treat Mai and Ty Lee with this cold malice.
Their relationship was fiery, chaotic, messy… but not poisoned.
Seeing it like this disgusted him.
He finally spoke.
"You really think that girl taught me Chi Blocking? If we're using your logic, then…"
Kahn raised one hand.
A flame appeared—golden orange at first… then slowly shifted.
Blue.
Azula's flames.
Her exact shade.
The three sisters froze.
Kahn's smile glowed eerily in the cold blue light.
"So, according to your logic… does that mean you've betrayed the Fire Nation too?"
"You—how—WHY DO YOU KNOW THAT?!"
Azula finally lost control.
Her mask shattered.
