Chapter 35 - CH-28 MEPHISTO

LATVERIA

Alex's POV

The portal remained wide open, spilling out waves of demonic energy. Countless creatures tried forcing their way through—but they were frozen in place, their twisted forms clawing against an invisible wall. That was because of me.

Holding them back wasn't exactly easy, but it was manageable—as long as I kept my slight focus on the Green Lantern ring. The constructs it formed only remained stable until my focus didn't waver.

Out of the corner of my eye, Reed Richards turned toward me. His voice carried that usual blend of excitement and arrogance.

"I have a solution," he said, "a way to shut the portal down."

When he explained his plan, I didn't even let him finish. I shook my head firmly.

"Daga kotowaru"I said by moving my head slightly to look him.

"What?"he said as he didn't understand with dumbfounded expression.

"I refuse"

The first issue—energy. His method required an absurd amount of it. Sure, it could be arranged, but to actually collapse the portal, the same level of energy would need to be poured back in. That wasn't a risk we could take.

The second issue was even worse. There was no guarantee the portal would close neatly. The stabilizing nodes could misfire, and if that happened… the portal might just rip open somewhere else on Earth. Even if it lasted only ten minutes, thousands of lives could be lost.

"Reed!" I said flatly, my voice colder than I intended.

"If the rift fails to stabilize, the chances are just as high that it'll reappear somewhere else on Earth. And if you think I'm going to let you play with the fate of the planet just to gamble on that—then no. If you want to burn Earth's house down, don't expect me to hand you the match."

Reed fell silent, his elongated features tightening in frustration. He was thinking—calculating—but before he could respond, his throat caught as if, Even he realized the counter-problems in his way of closing the portal.

That was when Susan stepped forward. She had been standing slightly behind him, her blue uniform torn but still intact, not a drop of blood staining her compared to Doom and me. We were the only ones drenched in gore, like we had been wrestling with Hell itself.

"What's your plan, then?" she asked me, her eyes sharp, steady.

I met her gaze. Susan always had that composure—an anchor in these chaotic four member team. For a moment, she looked as though the battle hadn't touched her at all.

I exhaled. "What I'm thinking is a little different… but partially similar to Reed's idea. We can use an inverse phase frequency—essentially matching the portal's waveform with the opposite signal. That would cancel out the portal's energy and sever its anchor point to Earth."

It wasn't even entirely my idea. 'Though, to be fair,' I thought inwardly, 'this is more Cara's theory than mine.' I might be a genius in my own right because of Senku and Batman and through my own curiosity to learn things from tech and the book knowledge inside system space, but compared to Reed—or especially Cara—I was leagues behind.

Her absurd tech theories inside the system's space could even brush against conceptual levels of reality.

The only catch? Those machines needed staggering amounts of power just to be activated, let alone created to function properly.

Reed, who had been listening, suddenly lit up. His eyes widened, a grin spreading across his face, and then he actually laughed. Loudly.

"Yes! Yes, that's it! That's the answer i was looking for! It could even be adapted to open the Negative Zone without destabilizing Earth's environment. Ha!"

He wasn't thrilled about closing a Hell portal—no, that wasn't Reed. His real excitement came from the thought of exploring the Negative Zone without the risk of blowing up New York. Typical Richard.

Susan's voice cut through his laughter, sharp and stern.

"Reed. Alex already said no about the Negative Zone. He also said it could affect our powers."

Her words hit him harder than any blow Doom or Aethereon could've landed. The smile froze on his face, hanging there awkwardly before dying completely.

"I'll explain it to him, Susan. Don't worry," Reed muttered sheepishly. His tone lacked conviction, like a guilty child caught sneaking cookies.

Aethereon—the identity I wore—kept his calm mask in place. But inwardly, I wanted to shout, I'm standing right in front of you, idiot.

That's the only thing I said when I funded all your research, Richards—everything except the damned Negative Zone. And you still don't get it.And I am not completely banning you fucker , I just want you to first chew and digest what you have.

Reed turned toward me, still wearing that insufferable look of theoretical triumph. "But even so," he pressed, "to produce the opposite frequency and waveforms, we need an enormous power source. We don't have a core here strong enough to energize the equipment in the middle of this—" he gestured toward the jagged forest of Latveria "—this wilderness."

From behind, Doom, who had been suspiciously quiet for far too long, finally shifted. He was lurking just beyond Johnny and Ben, his green cloak darkened with soot.

He quitely hide behind them as if 'i am not here'.

His silence wasn't out of disinterest—it was calculation. Because I knew something he didn't want anyone else here to know.

Just a week ago, Doom had created an advanced magitek core, pouring his entire fortune—liquid assets, bonds, and more—into its construction. 500… maybe 1000 million dollars' worth. And there was no way in hell he would hand it over.

Well, no one can blame him. This wasn't just another power source. It was far beyond Stark's famed arc reactor. Doom's core wasn't only a container for energy—it was capable of storing and using different kind of energy simultaneously. A terrifying piece of technology, even for him.

"Don't worry about that," I said evenly, cutting through the tension. "I can handle it."

I brought my left hands performing a single hand seal. A flicker of chakra surged, and with a popping sound like balloons bursting, three shadow clones erupted in puffs of smoke.

If I only use shadow clone than it would be Alex in front of all of them so I have to use transformation jutsu too so I would be appeared as same as me in Aethereon suit.

The air rippled with their sudden presence. Without hesitation, they teleported to the system's space and came back as the same place where they vanished in thin air and bring some equipment with them.

Two of them carried long, sleek devices bristling with conduits and coils. The third… held something far more dangerous.

A cube. Encased, violet light glowing from within its core. Six metallic coils circled inside it, pulsing in rhythm, each beat like the heartbeat of a living machine.

Reed's eyes widened instantly, his voice trembling with awe. Doom's gaze sharpened like a blade drawn in silence. Both men recognized it in the same breath.

A compact fusion reactor.(Image)

It was slightly similar to Stark's showpiece reactor at the Expo—except this one wasn't just real, it was beyond anything Earth had touched. A device that not only stores power. It created it. Efficiently. Cleanly. Endlessly.

Reed's hand twitched, his curiosity overwhelming his sense of caution. He reached out, compelled like a moth drawn to a flame.

Smack.

The shadow clone slapped his hand away without hesitation, glaring at him as if Reed were a toddler trying to stick his fingers into an electrical socket.

Both Reed and Doom blinked. Neither spoke as my clones and I gathered off to the side. The four of us—myself and three reflections including Cara in my mask interface—began debating strategies in rapid sequence.

Each clone had a different inflection, a different mood, yet all carried the same level of intelligence as I did. They argued, countered, corrected—refining the plan in real time, building a flawless execution through sheer mirrored teamwork.

Doom and Reed stood dumbfounded, watching.

Reed's expression shifted from awe to envy, his jaw tightening. If only I had counterparts like this, his eyes seemed to say. With minds equal to mine, bouncing ideas endlessly, what couldn't I achieve?

If I had heard that thought, his name would've joined the others already etched on my mental kill list—right beside Norman Osborn, Sublime, Sinister Six, and countless more.

After the heated debate with my clones, we finally settled on a unified path.

"Okay. We'll go with that," I said firmly, giving them a nod. Then I turned toward the others—Reed, Doom, Johnny, and Ben—my tone sharp as a blade.

"Now, all of you… back off. Especially you four. The last thing I need is your bad luck messing this up."

The Fantastic Four glared at me, their expressions ranging from offended to confused. Reed's lips pressed into a thin line, Susan folded her arms with a huff, Johnny rolled his eyes dramatically, and Ben muttered something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like, "Wise-ass."

But they all backed away. Good.

Meanwhile, my clones got to work. One activated the sleek panel of the machine Cara had designed, its surface lighting up with a faint hum as it locked onto the portal's dimensional resonance. Lines of alien calculations danced across the screen, adjusting waveforms in real time.

The second clone calibrated the antenna-like structures, angling them toward the swirling rift. The device began to thrum, pulling data from the portal itself, reading the resonance frequency of Hell's gateway.

The third clone cracked open the casing of the violet arc cube. Its glow spilled out instantly—pulsing like a miniature star caught in glass in purple resonance. He slotted it into the machine, and the core fused with the conduits, sending a ripple of violet energy flooding through the device.

The machine roared to life.

A low vibration spread outward, rattling the rocks under our feet. The generator began emitting inverse-phase energy, its resonance clashing against the portal's unnatural frequency. Every passing second, the disruptive waves intensified, shaking the dimensional anchor.

The light grew harsher, building until it wasn't light anymore—it was a storm of spiraling fractals, patterns so alien they burned the eyes, wrapping around the rift like chains forged out of mathematics itself.

I kept my focus locked on the barrier surrounding the portal, holding it steady so nothing could escape while the device did its work. Sweat dripped down my temples, my ring glowing brighter as constructs reinforced the containment.

Then—it happened.

The portal shuddered violently, rippling like water struck by a stone. For one horrifying heartbeat, I thought it would rupture and explode outward—but then the inversion fully synchronized.

A blinding burst.

The rift collapsed in on itself, folding like broken glass before vanishing into thin air. The spiraling fractal light vanished just as suddenly as it appeared. Silence followed.

The demons caught mid-transition screamed. Their grotesque bodies were severed cleanly in half, limbs and torsos blinking out of existence as the portal cut them off from Hell. The stench of burned ozone and ichor lingered in the air.

I exhaled slowly. It was done.

---S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier--

High above the Pacific ocean, agents aboard the Helicarrier were glued to the live satellite feed. The portal that had threatened to drown Earth in fire was gone—collapsed into nothingness.

A collective breath escaped the room, one giant sigh of relief.

Some agents clapped, others let out cheers. The tension that had weighed on their chests broke apart like chains.

Maria Hill, standing at the front of the operations deck, allowed herself a small smile. On the monitor, the figure dressed in pristine white—cloak flowing, standing like a sentinel amidst the battlefield—looked like a phantom carved out of light.

Behind her, Nick Fury did not smile on his motherfucking face. He stood with his arms crossed, his single eye cold and calculating, the reflection of the screen glinting across his scarred face. The celebration around him seemed to fade into background noise.

"I want every scrap of data on the person called Aethereon," Fury said, his voice low and sharp enough to cut through the cheers.

He turned on his heel, trench coat swaying as he walked away. For a moment, no one whispered.

But just before he stepped out of sight, a faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

LATVERIA

Third Person POV

The battle was over. The portal was gone. The ruins of Doom's castle stood as silent testimony—shattered walls, broken machines, fallen soldiers, and the ashes of dreams.

The Fantastic Four and Aethereon prepared to leave the desolated land they had just torn through.

After thrashing the orphan house(Doom castle), his bots(Doombots), and himself(Doom).

Reed's voice broke the silence, firm but not without warning.

"Doom… don't try this again. The next time, the outcome won't be the same."

Susan had been quiet through most of the exchange, standing slightly apart. But her gaze lingered—steady and unflinching—on Victor. He felt it. Even before he turned, Doom sensed her eyes piercing through him.

And when he finally did turn, catching Susan watching him, he fell silent. Words stuck in his throat.

Reed noticed the shift instantly. He gave Susan a small look, then stepped aside, joining Ben at the rear. Johnny, less patient, folded his arms and moved closer to his sister, protective as ever. Aethereon remained at the edge, apart from the drama, cloaked in silence.

For a while, only the sound of the wind moved between them. Then, finally, Susan spoke. Her voice was calm but heavy—like a dam breaking softly after holding too much for too long.

"Doom… I tried," she began, her eyes never leaving his masked face. "I tried to stay by your side. I endured your eccentricities, your controlling nature, your endless need to be on the very top—because I wanted to be with you. But you never gave me even the slightest trust in return. Not once."

Her words cut like a blade, steady, deliberate.

"You kept secrets. Even after everything that's happened, you didn't tell me the truth. I loved you, Victor… I truly did. But your inferiority complex, your obsession with Reed, your constant rivalry… it poisoned what we had. When you first came to me after the space incident, you still wore the mask. And when I asked you to take it off, you stormed out in anger."

Her lips trembled, but she did not cry.

"Later, when the company faced its storm, you didn't even bother to meet me before leaving for Latveria. No call. No message. Nothing. For more than two weeks, I waited. I thought maybe you needed space. I stopped calling, stopped trying. But the truth is… you've grown more selfish, more distant. More in love with your pride than with me."

Her voice wavered slightly now, but her resolve held firm.

"I hope you take care of yourself, Victor. Because this… this is my final farewell."

She turned, her golden hair whipping lightly in the wind, and walked away without looking back. Not once.

Doom stood frozen. His mask betrayed nothing, but inside, everything cracked. Around him lay ruins—his castle, his soldiers, his machines, his ambitions. And now… the woman who once he loved. All scattered, broken, like the splintered forest beneath his boots.

Aethereon opened a portal, the same way they had arrived. One by one, the Fantastic Four stepped through, the light swallowing them until the rift sealed shut. Their presence vanished from Latveria, leaving Doom utterly alone amidst the wreckage.

Thunder rumbled overhead. The dark clouds finally broke, spilling heavy rain across the battlefield. Drops hammered against his armor, producing a hollow, metallic resonance.

Doom lifted his head toward the storm. He closed his eyes, letting the rain wash over him, tracing down his iron mask like tears he could never shed.

And then, softly—barely more than a whisper, without rage, without coldness—he spoke a single word. A single name.

"Mephisto."

The sky answered him with a savage crack of lightning. The flash illuminated him for a fleeting instant, his shadow stretching monstrously across the ruined land.

In that instant, it was as if the Doom find his goal.
