Chapter 8 - Your Assistant Is Here...

"Grayson, let me introduce you to one more person," Clara said, gesturing to the left and asking Grayson to go with her.

A young, charming, and attractive girl stood before Grayson as he entered his office.

The girl's sharp facial features and attractive body looked very appealing to Grayson only at first sight of her.

She wore a baggy shirt with a chain on her neck and short, slim-fit jeans, due to which her curves looked even more prominent.

"She is Sarah, your assistant. She will handle all your stuff". Clara said as she introduced her.

Grayson's jaw dropped, eyes widening as he couldn't blink his eyes. A sudden jolt of electricity coursed through his veins, leaving him momentarily stunned. He could feel his heart pounding and his breath quickening. He felt a rush of adrenaline course through him, and he knew his life was about to change.

"Good evening, Sir. I am here at your service". Sarah smiled and put her hand forward.

"Good evening to you, too. Thank you for your service". Grayson was struck speechless. His voice caught in his throat; the words halted mid-sentence.

"No sir, it's my job". Sarah replied, surprised in disbelief that Grayson had just said was meaningless.

Grayson's plan started to work out. There was a lot of tension in the Richards family. The business had begun to crumble.

Emery had no clue what was going on. All the company's transactions were delayed. People were losing interest in the company.

Suppliers were pulling back their contracts because of payment delays.

"Grayson could be behind this". Emery said as she clenched her jaws.

"No, how can you be so sure of it?" Mr. Richard said, showing disbelief at what Emery had just said.

"Dad, I am saying that it's not a coincidence. I am sure he is targeting us". Emery uttered, her voice shaky and her hands trembling a little bit.

At Grayson's mansion, he also received information from Mia that his plan was working out.

"They're floundering. " It's only a matter of time before they panic," Mia said, smiling.

"Good. " Let's keep the pressure on." Grayson's lips curled into a satisfied smile.

Emery's assistant placed stacks of files on her table. "These are the issues we have identified in the past 48 hours. Something terrible is happening to us". The assistant said, sweat appearing on his forehead.

"What is inside there?". Emery asked, grabbing one of the files and opening it to look at what was inside.

This includes all the information related to payment delays. All our payments have been delayed in the past 48 hours, our accounts are inaccessible, and our major suppliers threaten us to pull out".

"This does not make any sense. Do not count the number of issues. Rather, you should find solutions". Emery's furrow burrowed as she started looking into the files.

"What is causing it? " Do you have any ideas?". Emery asked, looking stressed out to see all this.

"At the outset, it seemed like an internal error, but we cannot figure out what's causing these errors." His voice strutted, sensing Emery's rage coming ahead when she listened to all this.

"UURRGHH…. AHHHH..". Emery's voice screeched through the lobbies of the company.

"Do you know anything at all...." She yelled at the assistant.

"Mam…. Actually A… A… our IT department has detected some external breaches". His voice was shaking, and he was breathing in and out heavily.

"We are unable to trace the source." Cold sweat leaked from the side of her head.

As the conversation continues, Emery's brain gives her sudden flashbacks of Grayson saying he will win them again.

Her mind starts piecing things together:

She recalls Grayson's unexpected release from prison.

The timing of his release and the sudden disruptions in their business align too perfectly to ignore.

Could it be him? No... he doesn't have the resources. Or does he?. Emery questioned herself, her mind cluttered with different thoughts.

"You'll regret this. " I'll make you pay." She remembered the last words of Grayson. Her growing paranoia was hauntingher, and she was unable to control it.

She was unable to make any decisions. What can she do right now to dodge any more damage to the company?

"I should arrange an internal audit and see what's wrong." A sudden realization gnawed on her. She needed to take action quickly. She needed to make a plan and start implementing it right away. She needed to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it.

Emery takes a deep breath and addresses the room with newfound resolve. "I'm going to take care of this," she says, her voice strong and determined. She walks out of the room, determined to find a solution.

"We must first identify the core issue causing all this mess,"she said, narrowing her eyes. Launch a full internal investigation. Check every account, every transaction, every email. I want a list of all the external influences on my desk by morning". She ordered and asked everyone to get back to work.

"And get me the best cybersecurity firm available. " I don't care what it costs." She asked her assistant; her voice was substantial.

"Mam, I need to tell you one more thing. " There are whispers around the staff that Grayson is behind all this, but no one knows who Grayson is.

"Who told them about Grayson?". Emery yelled, her eyes turned red.

"I don't know, man, but it's all over the place like fire". The assistant replied. He was feared to hell by Emery's rage.

"That scumbag cannot do anything. You should focus on your work. I need immediate results!!". She felt chills listening to the name of Grayson floating all over the company.

"If you are behind it, you will surely regret crossing your line, Grayson. I will ensure your place will be in some trash". Emery murmured while her assistant left the office. Her voice was filled with rage.

Eager to know who was actually behind all this…
