Chapter 1 - A new path in life

City of Ishivor

The alarm clock rang loudly!!

A young man opened his eyes that morning, staring at the clock with a serious expression.

"This clock is so annoying!"

But suddenly, his expression shifted.

"Oh! Right—it's the first day at my new school!"

After finishing his morning routine and getting dressed, he rushed out the door.

"My name is Bacvic. My full name is Bacvic Vovisan, and I'm 17 years old. I'm carefree and easygoing… maybe a little too easygoing, since people tend to dislike me for it."

Finally, he arrived at his new school. His eyes widened in awe.

"Ishivor…"

Bacvic's eyes sparkled as he took in the massive campus.

"It's huge!"

Later, the professor entered the classroom. The atmosphere buzzed with students, cheerful smiles everywhere.

" Good morning, second-year students."

The students answered in unison, smiling brightly.

"Good morning, sir!"

The professor glanced around.

"Today, we have a new student."

Excitement spread across the room.

"A new student? / Who is it? / I want to meet them!"

Bacvic slowly walked into the classroom, everyone's eyes fixed on him. He gave a small wave.

"Bacvic Vovisan. Please take care of me."

The class answered with welcoming smiles.

"Yes!"

The professor gestured.

"Please sit next to Mr. Lonner."

Bacvic walked over and sat beside a blond-haired boy.

"My name is Lonner Rose. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you," Bacvic replied.

11:00 AM

Bacvic sat alone, relaxing as he glanced around the classroom.

"This school isn't bad. Everyone seems friendly… and the girls are cute."

He let out a soft sigh, lowering his head slightly.

"I guess I'll have a role to play here eventually."

Suddenly, a senior approached from across the courtyard—a man dressed sharply, with a sword at his waist and wavy black hair flowing in the breeze.

Startled, Bacvic turned away, but the man called out.

"Hey! You over there!"

Bacvic pretended not to hear.

The senior narrowed his eyes.

"That guy…"

Bacvic snapped his head around, glaring defensively.

"Yeah? What do you want?"

The senior smiled faintly.

"Are you part of any groups yet? You look like a second-year."

Bacvic blinked.

"Groups…? What do you mean?"

The senior sighed.

"Don't tell me you enrolled here without studying up on this place first. Seriously?"

Bacvic froze, whispering to himself.

"University…!?"

The senior grinned confidently.

"Then follow me."

Bacvic followed as the senior led him around the university, passing groups of students. Still confused, he wondered why he was tagging along.

As they walked, the senior asked,

"You really don't know, do you? Fine—ask me anything."

Bacvic swallowed nervously.

"I want to know about this university."

The senior stopped and turned to face him.

"Our university is the best."

He continued, his tone carrying pride.

"This is Echiwo University, the central university of Echiwo City. The city has many universities, each with its own rules. But this one—the Echiwo Tree—is different. To the outside world, it barely even exists. Most people don't know that this place is home to students with superpowers."

"Here, various groups operate, each backed by powerful organizations. After graduation, students can join all sorts of careers and institutions. Obviously… this isn't an ordinary school."

Bacvic's eyes widened in shock.

"So, senior… what group are you in!?"

The man smiled warmly, placing a hand on Bacvic's shoulder.

"We haven't even introduced ourselves, have we? My name is Konji! Leader of the Archaeology Group. Nice to meet you, young man."

Bacvic's eyes lit up, startled by the presence of this man.

Konji smirked.

"Interested? Why not join us?"

Bacvic hesitated.

"I… I'm not sure what I want yet."

Konji chuckled.

"That's fine. Teasing my juniors is one of my pleasures. Hahaha."

Bacvic gave a small smile.

"I'm Bacvic Vovisan. Nice to meet you."

Later, Konji waved goodbye and walked off.

"See you around!" Bacvic called after him.

Not long after, a mysterious woman approached Konji. She was strikingly beautiful, dressed in a stylish outfit that radiated confidence.

"You seem very interested in that boy," she remarked.

Konji glanced at her, a sly smile tugging at his lips.

"I see something different in him."

She sighed softly, stepping closer.

"You'd better not drag that young man into this."

Konji's smile turned mischievous.

"That's right… I always forget myself."

She came up behind him, resting a hand gently on his back.

"Why are you always so serious?"

Konji reached up, clasping her hand.

"I want to know the truth. As for you… you can leave. That's my boss's order."

She sighed again but smiled faintly.

"Understood."

Flashback: Four Years Ago

The same mysterious woman appeared, bright and cheerful—so different from now.

"Lithwe, nice to meet you!"

Present

As Lithwe walked away, Konji muttered under his breath.

"You idiot…"

---

Two Years Ago

Konji addressed his group with a serious expression.

"Everyone, today we're heading to the Northern Region. There's a mysterious ancient site there."

The group murmured with excitement.

"This trip is going to be amazing."

"If I bring back treasure, I'll be rich!"

Later, Lithwe approached Konji as he sat alone.

"Are you planning to bring the new kid along?" she asked.

Konji didn't even look at her.

"They decided on their own."

Lithwe's voice sharpened.

"You know full well they'll be helpless out there. Wouldn't it be better to let them train first, until we return?"

Konji remained calm, casual as ever.

"You're being too serious."

Lithwe's cheeks flushed as she turned her head away.

"I'm just… worried about our inexperienced junior."

---

Present

Konji stood alone in a deserted place, hands in his pockets, the wind brushing past him. His sharp eyes carried a cold intensity, as if he were hiding something deep within.
