## Chapter 203: The Transfer Student
It was another beautiful morning. Hayato sat up from his bed, raised his hand to press the remote control, and watched as the curtains automatically drew open, letting the sunlight stream into the room. Seeing the real sun appear on the horizon, Hayato's mind was incredibly relaxed. He reached for a Blank Card on his nightstand and infused Dark Power into it.
Last night, after their group defeated the Big Five's incarnation, the (Five-Headed Dragon), they completed the game and were teleported back to the Correndo Kingdom. There, they once again met Princess Mary.
Because Hayato and his companions had defeated the (Five-Headed Dragon) and saved the world, Princess Mary, to thank them, revealed her true form amidst Kaiba's expression of being "shocked for a whole year" — a Duel Monster, the (*Mystical Elf*).
Under the influence of mysterious magic that science couldn't explain but magic could, Joey and Mai Valentine, who had sacrificed themselves earlier, both revived.
A perfect ending. Not just within the game, but outside of it as well.
Because the Big Five had merged their roles into the (Five-Headed Dragon) within the game, they gained the (Five-Headed Dragon)'s almost indestructible body. However, as everyone knows, immortality is a Death Flag. After the (Five-Headed Dragon) was one-shot by Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon Knight, the Big Five were also dragged down, their consciousness trapped within the game.
Hayato didn't know about the others, but Kaiba's laughter was very loud on Mokuba's phone.
As Kaiba re-took control of KaibaCorp, which had almost changed hands, Hayato and the others also woke up from their game pods. And, as expected, the person in the fifth game pod beside them was none other than Mai Valentine.
When Yugi took out his Deck, he was surprised to find that his Deck, which originally had 40 Cards when he put it into the Card slot, had become 41 Cards when he took it out. The extra Card was the Heart Key Fairy. Hayato, who could also see Card Spirits, saw that Aierlu, who had formed Bonds with Yugi in the DM Online Game, was residing in this Card.
Yugi wasn't the only one who received Cards from DM (Duel Monsters). Hayato also found the Card he had obtained from the Nazca Lines in his System Storage and discovered a magical characteristic—a Card Spirit seemed to be slumbering within this Blank Card, unconsciously absorbing Dark Power.
Hayato didn't lack other things; the Dark Power left in his body by the (Millennium Eye) hadn't been depleted, and he had collected a lot more when he defeated Pegasus last time. Sealing it onto other things would be a waste, so Hayato simply injected some Dark Power into this Card whenever he had free time, to see if he could awaken the Card Spirit within it.
After a quick wash-up, Hayato planned to head to school. Although he and Yugi were now Duel Kings and could easily make a fortune if they were willing to take endorsements, they still had to attend school.
——————"Crimson Dragon!"——————
As soon as he walked into the classroom, Hayato realized he was quite early. There weren't many people in the classroom, only a few he didn't know very well gathered together, chatting.
Walking to his seat and sitting down, Hayato overheard snippets of their conversation———
"Speaking of which, did Ryo Bakura transfer schools like Seto Kaiba?"
"I heard it wasn't a transfer, but a leave of absence."
"Eh? I remember Ryo Bakura's grades were pretty good, and his family had some money. No one usually bullied him, so why would he take a leave of absence for no reason?"
"Who knows. But first, Seto Kaiba went home to inherit KaibaCorp under the guise of transferring, and now Ryo Bakura has also taken a leave of absence. Our class didn't have many people to begin with, and now we're down two in one go."
"Heh heh, about that, I heard a little rumor. I heard there's a transfer student from America coming to enroll soon, and they'll be assigned to our class!"
"A transfer student? Is it a boy or a girl? Are they pretty?"
...
So, it's reached this point in time, has it? Hayato recalled the "transfer student" plotline.
No matter the world, "transfer students" are always a hot topic, and most of them lead to major events, such as the Arrancar Army or the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.
Ultimately, the main purpose of a transfer student is to bring change to an otherwise peaceful daily life and advance the plot. Even *Dream of the Red Chamber* begins with Lin Daiyu's arrival at the Jia household. It's no wonder some people say approving transfer students is the easiest job in two-dimensional worlds, because you just pass them all, regardless of whether they transferred from Space, another Dimension, or the future.
In the Yu-Gi-Oh! World, Hayato remembered that two transfer students would appear in their class. The later one could be ignored for now; the one about to arrive must be Duke Devlin. As he thought this, Hayato saw Yugi and Téa arriving at school together.
"Good morning, Yugi, Téa."
"Oh, good morning, Hayato." Yugi greeted him with a smile, holding a promotional poster in his raised hand.
Noticing Hayato's gaze, Yugi sighed and explained the situation to Hayato.
Although the popularity of the Duel King recently brought a lot of customers to Grandpa Muto's Card Shop, this popularity came and went quickly. After all, even though Pegasus admitted he was defeated, his Duels with Hayato and Yugi weren't recorded for widespread broadcast, so the audience was ultimately limited.
A few days later, Kame Game Shop's business plummeted, even worse than before. This was not only because the holidays ended and students returned to school, but also because a new large Game Shop had opened not far from Kame Game Shop, which not only sold general games but also allowed players to enjoy the latest "D.D.M."
Compared to the new Game Shop, this newly opened Game Shop was more popular, which left Grandpa Muto constantly frowning.
"Speaking of which, what kind of game is that D.D.M?" Joey and Tristan also arrived in the classroom, having overheard Yugi's words. However, Joey had never heard of this "D.D.M" before.
"The so-called 'D.D.M', full name Dungeon Dice Monsters, also known as Monster Dice Roulette, is a game where you battle on a Game Board using unfolding Dice, but it's a bit more expensive than Duel Monsters."
Tristan said, pulling two Dice out of his pocket to show them. "Since I was a little interested, I bought two to play with, and I think they're pretty good."
Joey took them and saw that these two Dice Tristan had taken out were a bit larger than regular Dice, and they could even unfold into a flat surface. Once unfolded, a (Barbarian #1) was hidden inside the Dice.
"Is that all?" Joey looked at Tristan. "Isn't this just a small toy?"
"That's because you completely don't understand, alright? How about this, after school, let's all go check out that new Game Shop." Tristan didn't know how to explain it to Joey, so he simply suggested they all go see the Game Shop directly. "And while we're at it, we can help Grandpa Muto scout the enemy, right?"
"Hm, it's a deal then." Yugi thought about it and nodded in agreement.
