Chapter 132: Art
It took Kakashi quite some time to persuade the Third Tsuchikage, Onoki. Afterwards, as newly arrived members, Kakashi and Shisui proceeded to the war council room to attend a strategy meeting with the key Land of Earth war zone commanders, with the aim of assigning personnel for battle.
It was impossible to deploy ten thousand ninja all at once. Mobilization had to be done in batches. And so, a plan so simple it couldn't be simpler emerged.
A vanguard of three thousand ninjutsu ninja would perform a long-range bombardment on the two thousand ninja from the Land of Lightning.
Once the enemy could no longer withstand it, two thousand ninja with superior taijutsu would give chase. Finally, five thousand ninja would be divided into ten batches, sequentially using Earth Release to trap the Third Raikage, preventing him from utilizing his speed advantage, until he was trapped to death within.
While the Third Raikage was being trapped, the two genjutsu ninja from the Hidden Rain Village needed to enter the area affected by the Earth Release to jointly strangle him.
Kakashi, uncertain of how effective the Hidden Stone's combined Earth Release truly was, raised a question: How could a mere batch of five hundred Earth Release ninja possibly trap the second fastest ninja in the ninja world, the Third Raikage?
The leaders of the Hidden Stone Village exchanged glances. After gaining Onoki's consent, ten elite jonin guards outside the door demonstrated a secret technique of the Land of Earth used to deal with the Land of Lightning to the two from the Hidden Rain Village.
"Earth Release: Hiding Like a Rock Technique."
These ten ninja first concealed themselves underground. Although not as convenient as the Earth Release: Earth-Style: Mayfly and much slower, it was still a decent hiding jutsu.
Kakashi also liked using this technique; the Headhunter Jutsu in his mind was a variation of the Hiding in Stone Technique. These two, along with Earth Release: Underground Submergence, were essentially no different.
"Earth Release: Mountain Stone Jutsu."
The combined performance of creating two massive earthen hemispheres to sandwich the opponent and halt their activity looked quite spectacular. The sudden appearance of hills was visually very intimidating.
"Earth Release: Tectonic Shift."
This jutsu could raise or lower the terrain at a specific location, forming a large, nearly square pit or a square stone pillar, making it a useful auxiliary ninjutsu.
Kakashi nodded slightly. In this way, the Hidden Stone guys indeed might be able to trap the Third Raikage. But the problem was what he was worried about.
What could trap the Third Raikage to death could also trap him and Uchiha Shisui to death. Even if they could escape using Coordinate Teleportation, they had a full ten thousand ninja in reserve. Escaping these ninja, who were adept at trapping techniques, would not be simple, coupled with the flying Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, the difficulty would be even greater than dealing with the Third Raikage.
The reason Kakashi wanted to observe their method of trapping the Raikage was to prepare countermeasures in advance, to prevent Onoki from suddenly turning hostile. Such incidents were all too common during wartime, so caution was necessary.
Furthermore, a battle between him and Onoki was inevitable due to the mission and the Hidden Rain Village's involvement, which he believed would happen not long after their confrontation with the Third Raikage.
Before the battle even began, the two from the Hidden Rain Village were already in a difficult predicament. Kakashi quietly asked Uchiha Shisui.
"Do you have confidence in controlling the Third Raikage with your Kotoamatsukami?"
"The stronger a person's willpower, the harder they are to control. Moreover, my left eye cannot perform a permanent Kotoamatsukami right now, and my right eye's effect is only temporary. I don't know if it will work on the Third Raikage."
He wasn't surprised by this answer. If Kotoamatsukami had no limitations, he would have long ago stopped the Uchiha Elder Council and Danzo.
Kakashi returned to the meeting room and continued listening to the Land of Earth's higher-ups discussing battlefield divisions and operational details.
At the same time, he secretly memorized the faces of these people; this would certainly be useful in the future.
"Any other questions?"
"When should Shisui and I intercede in your confrontation with the Third Raikage?"
"Lord Tsuchikage will explain that point."
Onoki didn't even lift an eyelid, answering the silver-haired youth's question with his unique speaking rhythm and tone.
"After the Earth Release Corps traps the Raikage, the two ninja at the very front will open a path
wide enough for two people to pass through. However, to prevent the Raikage from escaping through this path, you need to rush in at maximum speed, otherwise the passage will be sealed."
"So, we'll be crushed?"
"Not if you're fast enough."
"Then we really do need to be quicker."
Kakashi wasn't surprised by this undisguised malice. It would be strange if they cared about their lives.
"Once you control the Third Raikage with genjutsu, there's no need to continue attacking. I will personally descend and end his life with Dust Release."
"What if we can't control him?"
"Then fight until you do."
The meeting concluded. Before the formal battle, those ninja would also conduct some exercises. Dozens of scouts
had already been dispatched to the front lines to block their inevitable escape routes behind the Land of Lightning. This time,
mobilizing two-thirds of the village's ninja, the Hidden Stone was determined to secure this victory.
The silver-haired youth had Shisui keep a close watch on the Hidden Stone's training exercises, aiming to understand every step of their formations, while he himself approached Logaro to discuss the heights of art.
In their previous conversation, Kakashi felt that this guy, besides his appearance, also resembled his son, Deidara, in personality. Both had an inexplicable obsession with art, and neither was allowed to use explosive ninjutsu within the village; to use it, they had to go outside the village.
For this art-loving fellow, this was discrimination beyond words.
It was like a painter creating a masterpiece, and his friend looking at it and saying, "Hang it outside, don't hang it in my house," which would be equally frustrating.
When Logaro reached this point, he couldn't help but complain to Kakashi about Onoki, that old man, being stubborn and disrespectful, set in his ways, and not understanding modern young people's art at all.
"Hey, even though you're from a small village, you seem to understand my art, hmm?"
"Have you ever heard the saying 'Art knows no boundaries'?"
"Art knows no boundaries! Hmm!"
Despite being a father with children, when talking about things he loved, Logaro still acted like a youth, his eyes immediately widening and brightening. This was the first time he had encountered someone outside the Explosion Corps who understood his art so well.
"What is your art?"
"Art is the beauty of fleeting explosions! Like fireworks! Hmm!"
"Art is an explosion?"
"Exactly! You truly are a genius. That's right, art is an explosion!"
"Want to see my art?"
