Chapter 48 - Chapter 47

Rowan heard what his wife said, then looked at her expression. He felt that he had hit too lightly. How could his wife go easy on someone?

Rowan quickly held his wife's hand and said, "Wife, when I get better, I'll beat him again. Don't be angry."

"Mhm."

Felix stood nearby and heard the couple's conversation. He was so angry he could explode. Did he have to suffer this much? But he was terrified of Sienna. He was scared.

When he looked at Rowan, there was sympathy in his eyes, but also a bit of admiration.

Time went back to when Felix had just arrived home. As soon as he walked in, his grandpa and older brother were sitting on the sofa.

"Grandpa, big brother."

Grandpa looked at him and said, "You're back. Is Rowan awake yet?"

Then he noticed the bruises on Felix and asked, "Who did you fight with? Weren't you at the hospital the whole time?"

Felix thought for a moment, then told his grandpa and big brother about what Sienna did at the hospital. When they heard that Felix had once again asked another girl to help take care of someone, which led to him getting beaten up, their expressions became strange.

"Grandpa, big brother, what's with those looks?"

Grandpa looked at him and asked, "Are you stupid or just blind, huh? That girl was obviously fake sweet. You couldn't tell? I'm going to fix this problem today. Otherwise, I'm worried you'll pull out my oxygen tube one day."

Felix's big brother looked at him with a speechless expression. He was seriously wondering—how did their family end up with someone this dumb? He'd never noticed it before.

"Grandpa, what fake sweet girl? And how could I ever hurt you?"

Grandpa couldn't hold back anymore. He grabbed his cane and started hitting Felix. "What fake sweet girl? Let me tell you, she's just a tramp, understand?"

Felix tried to run after being hit a few times, but Grandpa grabbed him. "Grandpa, let's talk nicely, please!"

Grandpa ignored him and hit him even harder, yelling, "Tell me, what kind of decent girl goes out of her way to care for a married man, especially when she knows the man's wife doesn't like it? She already got slapped by the wife and still kept hanging around!"

"Ah! Say something! I'm going to beat the stupid out of you! Sienna was right—you're blind and clueless. You need to be fixed."

"Ow! It hurts! Big brother, help me! Your little brother's not going to make it!"

His big brother looked at him and said, "I think Grandpa's right. You really do need a lesson. I'm also worried that if I get hurt after getting married, you won't sign my surgery papers."

"Think about it—haven't Rowan and Sienna always treated you well? Why couldn't you even stand on their side when it mattered?"

"Sienna told you to watch over Rowan. You should've just done that. Why did you bring in some girl to help? What were you thinking?"

"What was I thinking? I just wanted Rowan to feel more comfortable. Sienna doesn't know how to take care of people—usually it's Rowan taking care of her."

Hearing that, big brother said, "Grandpa, hit him harder."

If he wasn't still healing, he would've hit him too. "Felix, are you blind? Couldn't you tell that woman likes Rowan? I figured it out just listening to you talk. And you were there the whole time!"

Felix froze. "No way, my sister-in-law was there too. How could she dare like someone with a wife? She didn't seem like that kind of person…"

Grandpa was tired from hitting and put his cane down. He sat on the sofa and told Felix, "Kneel down right here and think about it. Don't get up until you understand."

"Okay…"

Felix knelt down quietly. Grandpa said, "You know what happens to people who run away, right?"

"I don't know."

"Oh, then I'll tell you. They died without a whole body, eaten by wild animals."

"Oh, then they deserved it. They must've done something to attract those beasts."

Grandpa Tang and Tang's oldest brother looked at Felix with confused faces. They were both wondering how he even became a deputy commander. They never pulled any strings for him.

"Why don't you think about it? Sienna just came back from that mission, and they finished it. Then those people were eaten by beasts. Don't you think that was her doing?"

After his grandfather's reminder, Felix finally understood and shivered.

Tang's oldest brother looked at Felix and asked, "Why did you think that woman was being kind?"

"We saved her life. Rowan even got hurt. If she had a heart, she should've helped."

Tang Kai asked, "Then why didn't you think—why did she insist on taking care of a married man? Even when his wife didn't want her to, she still did."

"And you even said she said Sienna couldn't take care of people and just looked then left. Don't you think that makes others think Sienna doesn't care about her husband?"

"Is that how it is? But my sister-in-law really did look and saw he was fine, then left. She didn't lie."

This time, Tang Kai didn't hold back anymore. He said, "Kneel down and think about it. If you can't understand, don't go back to the base. Only go when you figure it out."

"Okay…"

After kneeling for a few hours, Felix finally understood. He went to the hospital to bring food. Grandpa Tang saw he had learned his lesson, so he let him go.

In the hospital, Felix apologized. "Sister-in-law, I was wrong. I won't do it again. I promise."

Sienna ignored him and focused on feeding Rowan porridge. She was really angry that another woman got close to Rowan. It made her feel very uncomfortable.

Looking at Sienna's expression, Rowan felt very happy. At least it showed Sienna cared about him. If not, she wouldn't have hit Felix.

"Wife, don't be mad. It's all Felix's fault. If you're upset, just hit him again."

Felix stood at the side, feeling very hurt seeing his good friend treat him this way just to make his wife happy. He felt like they were no longer good brothers.

After this, Felix truly learned his lesson. He avoided all women, scared that if he got close to one again, he'd get beaten up. He really didn't understand how women's minds worked.

After eating, Rowan asked Felix, "How was the mission this time?"

"It's done. Everyone from our team came back safely."

Hearing that, Rowan was relieved. He said to Felix, "Then you can go back. No need to stay here anymore."

"Alright. I'll bring you your meals tomorrow morning." Then he left with the lunchboxes.

Once the room was quiet again, Rowan hugged Sienna lightly and said, "Wife, don't be mad anymore. Next time I'll protect myself better and stay far away from other women."

"I'm very angry because I couldn't protect you. Next time you get a mission, take me with you."

"Okay, wife. I feel fine now. Let's leave the hospital tomorrow."

Sienna looked at his condition and said, "Okay."
