"I need to get a look at that man's face," Lillian expressed, bothered by how she couldn't identify him.
"Aren't you interfering too much?" Sebastian pointed out. Usually, Lillian assumed indifference to these matters, not wanting to get involved in trouble. "And it might be a misunderstanding."
Lillian couldn't tell Sebastian how her senior had committed suicide during this period of time.
"Ryder had taken good care of me. Therefore, I owe him one," Lillian answered.
Then, she poked the slice of cake with the dessert fork and added, "Also, the research might get halted if anything happens to him. That would be bad for my thesis."
Lifting the piece of cake with her fork, she took a bite out of it— tanginess and sweetness creating a complementary mix in her tastebud. She spotted the washroom on the other side and expressed, "Wait for a bit."
