The smell of pancakes filled the air, as I rush around trying to make him breakfast, Sky and Aunty Diane, were there helping me with everything I needed, " some one is in a good mode,I wonder what must've happened last night, Sky tease as she hits me gently with her waist, " stop teasing her Sky, aunty Diane was always quick to intervene, and Sky shut up immediately, Carden finally came down fully dressed.
" Right on time, breakfast is ready, I pulled him not giving him room to contemplate, Sky and aunty Diane could only smile from a distance not Daring to say a word, I lay the food perfectly on the table and brought out the jar of freshly squeezed Juice from the fridge.
" Hazel I don't drink, juice, whiskey will be better, " from now on it juice, you already have too much alcohol in your system, sighing in defeat he raise his glass and takes a slow deliberate sip, his deadly gaze fixed on me the entire time. " How is it, I waited until he swallowed it,
" the flavour is rich and sweet, it's satisfying on the tongue was his diplomatic reply, at least that was better than a no, I made sure he emptied his plate and the glass of juice,
" Last bite, aaaaahhhhh , I squeezed his mouth open forcing another bite into his mouth.
The sound of a female voice echoed diverting us from our own little world, " Mrs Smith....
" Mom.. you never told me you were coming, Carden forces the last junk of food down his throat. She held a beautiful smile as she stood at the door watching us in silence. " I can die peacefully knowing my son is in good hands. Tears foam at the corner of her eyes and she cleaned them immediately.
"Mom please can you stop talking about death all the time, Carden met her half way into the mansion and kissed her on the cheek,
" am leaving for work, but Hazel will be here to keep you company and call me anytime you need anything, she nodded her smile still lingering on her lips, he turns to me and nodded before leaving.
The guards brought in gift bags laying them on the table.
" I never had time to shop wedding giftt for you dear, so here you go, she pointed at the gifts that almost took half of the seating room
" Ma you.. didn't have to bother, this is actually too much, my mouth still hanging open at the expensive gifts before me. " Nothing is too much for my daughter in-law. I don't care if this marriage is only on paper, for me you're my daughter, and my son won't resist your charm.
she took my hand in hers and squeezed it gently. Giving me the go ahead with her son.
how actions really melted my heart.
The day went pretty fast and I had an amazing time with Mrs Smith who now goes by the name mom, she couldn't stop praising all the delicious dishes I made for her through out the day.
After biding farewell I went back to my room feeling pretty exhausted from the cooking.
The next few weeks Alex took me on all his business trips, we had dinner in expensive restaurants, and visited every country I had ever dreamt of going to, and today we just flew back from Paris, after spending an entire week.
Sky was helping me unpack.
" So tell me everything detaily, she jumps on the couch anticipating my reply, I happily told how everything we did during our stay in Paris, and she couldn't help but smiling and awwwing when needed.
our little chat was interrupted by Carden who just stepped in, Sky stood up, bowed slightly and left immediately.
" I see you're not tired, he sat beside me pulling me for a kiss, " I know where this is leading to but it's a no, I forcefully pulled myself from his grip and dash to the bath room for a quick shower, as expected Carden followed already undress, he hugs me from behind, trailing kisses down my spine, I face him crashing my lips on his, he lift me leaning me on the cold tiles on the wall doing terrible things as the water falls on us. Carden helped me dry my hair, and after chatting for abit we went to bed, and in his arms I felt asleep forgetting completely about the world outside.
It was perfect, our marriage and everything was just perfect. Carden was my sweet all caring husband.
The Next morning Carden had already dress and gone to work, we were to have dinner at his parents place this weekend and I couldn't wait to spend time with Mrs Smith.
Feeling bored I decided to search through the room, trying to get acquainted to everything. I stumbled upon old pictures of Alex when he was much younger, and couldn't help but smile as I scan them carefully, he looked intimidating even from a young age,
my mouth hangs open as I stumble upon a picture
" it was mother.,. she looked so happy as Carden wrapped his arms around her neck, they looked like a romantic couple thought Alex was still around 15 years old. Old memories flood in like a volcano, the date on the picture matches thesame date mom commited suicide. What was she doing with Carden, I squeezed the picture to my chest sobbing uncontrollable, as it felt like yesterday. I was so absorb in my sorrows and didn't notice when Carden came into the room
" Hazel..are you alright, his all concerning voice came. he pulls me and backs away immediately he spotted the picture in my hand. His expression changes to that of the old Carden, he pulls the picture away squeezing it angrily into his pocket,
" Carden.... That picture.. that's my mother in it.., did you know her, what's your contention to her, my sobs kept pouring, and it hurts that, he looked so unaffected by my misery. " Carden please I need answers.
He contemplated for some time before finally speaking up
" I started working at my Dad's company when I was just 15 years old, and was always nominated the business man of the year, that made me quite popular, and.. this woman was a fan I came across on the street and decided to take a photo, his answers only gave me room for more questions which he was clearly not in the mood to answer,
" Carden this day was the same day I lost my mother, and any information could really help me, my sobs intensifies and he takes a step backward,
" Carden please..... you probably had many fans back then and I know you took so many pictures with them too, but why did you decide to keep that of my mother within your pictures, and that too on thesame day she died, his unwillingness to answer my questions made me more curious, the man standing before me looks nothing like the man I've grown to love so much.
