The four Shimura jonin were the first to reach Sasame's side.
Under the guise of protection, they took up positions around him—forming a four-cornered seal.
Rasa, the Fourth Kazekage, calmly stepped back, teacup in hand.
The next moment, a deep crimson barrier erupted from the ground, sealing Sasame inside.
"Bastards! What are you doing?!"

"This isn't a coup."

"How amusing."
Rasa took a sip of tea, his tone indifferent. "Lord Hokage, it seems you have internal affairs to settle first."
"But does the Kazekage intend to interfere?"
Sasame glanced at the restrained Hyūga Hizashi and the others. Though the situation was critical, they hadn't acted yet.
"This is merely my response to your earlier insults toward Sunagakure."
Rasa smirked. "Words have consequences, don't they?"
"Where are the rest of the Shimura?"
Sasame asked casually. "Four of you won't accomplish much."
Shimura Tadamichi revealed himself, unable to resist gloating. The situation was too favorable—Hizashi and the others were held back, Sasame was sealed, and Danzō lurked in the shadows.
Victory was assured.
"Did you ever imagine this outcome during the council meeting?"
Tadamichi sneered.
"All your elites, huh?"
Sasame ignored his taunt, scanning the nine Shimura jonin behind him. For a single clan, nine jonin was impressive.
This was their all-in gamble.
"Hizashi."
Sasame suddenly called out.
"Hokage-sama, your orders?"
Hizashi's Byakugan was active, his Gentle Fist stance ready as he faced Baki. Beside him stood Might Guy and Hatake Kakashi.
"The Shimura clan has attempted to assassinate the Hokage and stage a rebellion. I order you to subdue them."
Sasame's voice was calm.
"But—"
Hizashi hesitated. Shouldn't their priority be breaking the barrier and escorting Sasame to safety?
Sunagakure had clearly sided with the Shimura. Konoha's delegation was strong, but outnumbered. Retreat was the logical choice.
"Lord Hokage, you can't even save yourself, yet you dare issue orders?"
Tadamichi laughed mockingly. "How naïve!"
"Noisy."
Sasame raised his fist—and struck.
The barrier shattered like glass, dissolving into motes of light.
Tadamichi's eyes bulged in disbelief.

An illusion?
That barrier was cast by four jonin! Even the Hokage shouldn't have broken it so easily!
Kurenai exhaled in relief but didn't flee. Instead, she stood beside Sasame, kunai in hand.
She owed her current status to him. If the Shimura succeeded, she'd lose everything.
That was unacceptable.
Rasa frowned.

Sasame's punch seemed effortless. Rasa assumed the Shimura's barrier was just weak.

"Kurenai, join Hizashi."
Sasame glanced at her, pleased by her loyalty. If she'd run, her beauty would've meant nothing.
"Don't worry about me. That's an order."
After a brief hesitation, Kurenai leaped off the platform.
Now, only Sasame, Rasa, and the five Shimura remained.
"Kill him!"
Tadamichi's eyes burned with hatred.

But Sasame's wood-style had countered Shukaku.

Kankurō trembled as the forest spread.
"RETREAT!"
Baki grabbed his students, fleeing the encroaching trees.
