Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Choice

"Congratulations, Host, on successfully completing the event—winning the trial of the Baron Lorraine case. Reward: 200 Experience Points."

The system's voice echoed in Lin Yide's mind, and he immediately opened the system store interface.

From basic skills to powerful weapons, from precious relics to mysterious Visions, the system store contained almost everything he could imagine.

However, when he carefully checked the prices, he couldn't help but feel a little frustrated.

Even the most ordinary white-level skill—Favonius Bladework - Standard, required 200 Experience Points to purchase, while more advanced items, such as Visions, cost as much as 5000.

Faced with such prices, Lin Yide felt that the future seemed somewhat bleak.

According to the information in his mind, the Spina di Rosula had just begun constructing three shipping routes, which meant that the Traveler's arrival and the day of judgment were approaching, leaving only about ten years.

Ten years was almost an impossible task for saving Furina.

He sighed softly and slowly walked out of the Opera Epiclese.

Outside the door, the people of Fontaine were still talking and pointing at him.

Suddenly, an idea popped into his head: if Furina' plan failed, wouldn't she be able to live? However, countless Fontainians would dissolve into the water, becoming sacrifices of this failure.

Implementing this idea was not difficult, but could he really make such a choice?

Lin Yide took out a Mora, took a deep breath, and threw it forcefully into the sky.

He silently recited in his heart that if it landed heads up, he would bravely face the All-Devouring Narwhal and save Furina;

If it landed tails up, he would have to choose to disrupt Furina' plan.

The Mora drew an elegant arc in the air, but it did not land on the ground as Lin Yide wished.

Instead, it hit Furina, who had just walked out of the Opera Epiclese, squarely on the forehead.

"An assassin!"

Furina shouted in panic, her beautiful face instantly losing its color.

Having just stepped out of the Opera Epiclese and encountering such an attack, she instinctively believed it was an assassination attempt against her.

Her exclamation immediately attracted the attention of the Gardes, who quickly surrounded her and protected her.

At this time, Lin Yide, seeing that the situation was not good, immediately took off like the wind and fled the scene.

Lin Yide had not gone far when a noble youth in gorgeous attire suddenly appeared in front of him, blocking his path.

This noble youth had a gloomy face and a weak body, and it was clear at a glance that he was the kind of playboy who indulged in pleasure.

Behind him stood four burly, fierce-looking lackeys.

"Yide, you bastard, you need to pay the price for what you said in court just now," the noble youth said arrogantly.

Lin Yide recognized the noble youth in front of him as Elina's cousin, Brant Lannis.

He sneered in his heart, but pretended to be confused on his face, and asked, "Oh? Did I say something that needs an apology? I don't remember."

Brant gritted his teeth and said, "You dared to say that the women of the Lannis family are a bunch of shameless sluts! Doesn't that sentence need an apology?"

Lin Yide heard this and pretended to suddenly realize, saying, "Oh, so that's what it was! But isn't that the truth?"

"How dare you be so rude!" Brant immediately flew into a rage, roaring at the lackeys behind him, "What are you waiting for? Go and beat this bastard to death!"

However, what made Brant even more angry was that none of his lackeys dared to step forward.

They all knew that publicly beating others on the street was a serious crime, and the consequences would be unimaginable if they were caught.

Lin Yide looked at Brant's exasperated appearance and couldn't help but mock, "It seems that what I said in court just now was indeed wrong. Not only are the women of the Lannis family a bunch of shameless sluts, but the men are the same."

Brant's face was distorted by Lin Yide's mockery, and he roared, "Yide, I want to have a duel to the death with you!"

Lin Yide smiled contemptuously and said, "Okay, I agree."

Brant gritted his teeth and said, "Tomorrow at noon, right here at the entrance of the Opera Epiclese, I will definitely make you pay a heavy price and chop you into pieces!"

"No problem," Lin Yide replied indifferently, then turned and walked away, heading towards his home.

Half an hour later, Lin Yide stopped in front of a magnificent noble villa.

As he was about to step inside, an old man with slightly gray hair hurried out to greet him.

"Young Master Yide, I knew you were innocent!" The old man's eyes sparkled with tears, and his voice was excited and trembling.

The old man in front of him was Old Dirk, the Baron Lorraine's butler. In this house, besides the Baron Lorraine, Old Dirk treated the original owner the best.

Lin Yide said gently, "Uncle Dirk, it's okay, it's all over."

Then, accompanied by Old Dirk, he walked into the villa.

However, as soon as he stepped into the gate of the villa, Lin Yide's brows furrowed tightly.

He keenly noticed that many of the originally precious ornaments and decorations in the villa were missing.

Old Dirk saw his expression and sighed, "Young Master Yide, after you were arrested, Miss Elina began to sell most of the assets left by the master, wanting to use Mr. Rodman to get you out.

But who would have thought that Rodman, that beast, would take all the money Miss Elina gave him and gamble it away."

After listening to Old Dirk's narration, Lin Yide felt an unspeakable anger and disappointment in his heart. He knew that it was almost impossible to recover that money.

He calmed down his emotions and asked, "Uncle Dirk, how much Mora do we have left?"

"About one million Mora," Dirk replied.

Lin Yide's head suddenly felt as big as a cow. One million Mora was barely a considerable fortune for ordinary people.

But for a noble like him, it could only maintain expenses for a month or two.

"Uncle Dirk, let's temporarily dismiss all the servants in the house," Lin Yide pondered for a moment and immediately made a decision.

Old Dirk nodded silently, without saying much.
