Clara's words were disdainful and degrading. Her eyes filled with condescension.
"You already tried to harm me several times, do you think I'll just let you get away with that?" Anne's voice trembled slightly, showing the kind of anger she was keeping suppressed.
Clara merely laughed, her voice ringing soft and feminine.
"What will you do, go out and tell everyone about it? Even if you walk out there and tell people about it, no one will believe you. Like I said, you won't be able to fight me. Money and position are the definition of power, and you have no power."
That conversation had ended there, Anne no longer deemed it worthy for her to keep exchanging words with Clara, she knew now what kind of a woman she was and the person behind Clara's mask of kindness disgusted her.
Even as Anne was walking along the hallways of the executive floor in the company, on her way to carry out a work task, she couldn't stop thinking about what Clara had said to her.
