Anne had gone on to spend a long time creating a romantic sounding story between her and the masked person, she actually mixed the truth in there somewhere. Two truths and a lie, two truths and a lie and a believable story was formed.
Anne felt extremely guilty for lying to her friend, the feeling suffocated her but she knew she had no choice. In the past, Anne and Jasmine would tell each other everything, but in order not to hurt the other person, sometimes one of them would tell a lie. Just like Jasmine had pulled away from their friendship back then just so Anne wouldn't be a part of the messiness about to occur in her life.
Anne was doing the exact same thing now, shielding her friend from feeling heartache for her, shielding her friend from trying to save her because there was no running from this.
