Chapter 61 - Recovered

Nando's POV

The fundamental idea of meditation is that you should lose your sense of time and sink into a space without thinking voluntarily, as far as I remember according to Buddhism.

I don't know if I entered that state or simply ended up falling asleep after a few breaths, I only know that when I woke up, about 2 hours must have passed at most. Certainly not less than 1 hour.

My body was fully recovered, without a single scar or mark that showed all the effort I put into fighting the kobolds and Drake. That's a little sad, honestly, but it didn't matter.

My arm was whole again; I could move it without problems or pain. The only bad thing was that after so long standing in a single position, my body became stiff, very stiff. As stiff as someone would be the next day after an intense weightlifting or yoga session without warming up.

So yes, I was also sore, but I had normal movements and sensations, and considering my state before, I was more than happy like that.

It doesn't surprise me that my MP isn't full even after 2 hours of deep meditation (allegedly), after all, the [vampire regeneration] has been constantly draining my mana during that time. With a little difficulty, I sat on the bed and started some stretches to loosen my stiff muscles.

Even opening and closing my hand hurt a little; I think the *creak, creak* of my bones adjusting could be heard from outside.

With my body more comfortable, I sat down again, looked at the blood bottle; there was still some left, and I didn't think twice before drinking it, even though it was already starting to harden. It wasn't as good as drinking pure liquid blood, but it was still better than goblin or undead blood.

With my body now more comfortable, I sat down again and looked at the blood bottle. There was still some left, and I didn't think twice before drinking it, even though it was starting to harden.

It wasn't as good as drinking completely liquid blood, but it was still better than goblin or undead blood.

Not wanting to waste anything, I used one of my claws to open the bottle and even lick the blood that was stuck to the walls and bottom. I'm not proud of that.

'Things are so much better, in terms of stats and condition, than before. But one question, since I woke up I'm almost used to this interface, but when was the last time my condition showed something like *normal?'

I honestly don't think that word has ever appeared, and definitely nothing with anything even remotely positive in the condition section. Ughhhh 😓.

'Okay, now let's find Mari and decide how to proceed!'

Well, the how and what to do now is obvious, the question is whether I go alone as we discussed before or if someone will come with me.

As soon as I opened the bedroom door, the mini jungle appeared in front of me. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems like the number of creeping plants and plants on the ceiling has increased in just one day, but I'll ignore that feeling.

"Oh finally, how's it all now?"

Mari asked, sitting in her normal form on one of the furthest sofas next to Lumi, Beth (the turtle that threw a ball of water at my head), a vine that looked more like a snake because of the way it moved (definitely Pomo), and even Impeto with two of the chickens.

'Looks like I was really the last one to recover, but again, I was almost dead so...'

Putting that thought aside.

"Much better than before, now I really feel alive. Oh, and I hadn't said this before, but thanks for the help against the kobolds earlier, you really saved us."

"Whoosh!"

"Kroo-kooo"

"Hey, we fight, but it's not like I'd let my brother become food for some scaly chihuahuas, or one of my babies. 🌸Right, my baby, oh my baby, who was brave enough to save my idiot brother? It was you, wasn't it, my baby?🌸"

I'll pretend I didn't notice my sister's obvious biased opinion.

'Besides, she wasn't totally wrong, but the way she's saying...'

"Looks like I wasn't the only one who had a snack, it seems."

I said, looking more closely at the... circle?, they were making. On the ground there were at least 2 open cans of corn, half of which had already been eaten. I glanced sideways at Impeto and the chickens; he held my gaze, they looked away.

In addition, there was also a small plate with some cold cuts that, judging by the smell, had been out of refrigeration for at least a day, and along with them were some small magic stones typical of goblins. I looked at Lumi, who was still being fussed over by my sister, and just rolled my eyes.

Ignoring the sound of her fawning over the beagle, I managed to hear (by some miracle) a *creak, creak* of magic stones being eaten.

Through the perpetually open door leading to the second floor, I could see Nawa's head out there, probably eating a good portion of the other magic stones from the monsters that came that night.

'Why was she at giant size? Wouldn't it have been better to stay the size she was when she was serving as my pillow?'

I thought, but didn't say anything. To each their own, and who says animals can't have theirs too?

"You remembered to give the portion of magic stones to Impeto and his pack before giving them to Nawa, right?"

I asked, sitting on the other sofa, the smaller one, which finally made her snap out of her baby talk-with-dogs world that she occasionally drifted into.

"Ah..... No."

I looked at her with a face that said, "You're kidding, right?"

"Well, you're the one who tamed the pack, they're your responsibility, wasn't that what you, Mom, and Dad used to say about me and my babies?"

She said, clearly defensive but trying to attack.

'Ho-Hoo-hoo~, is that how you want to play, little sister, okay?'

"Yes, that's what we used to say."

I replied immediately, raised my hand, and began listing some things:

"And yet, we were the ones who had to help: buying food, cleaning up feces when a certain person felt unwell with a period that strangely happened every week."

"menstruation is really hard to predict, b-besides the cramps and..."

She tried to protest with a small voice, in the same level as a mosquito.

"Every Week?"

I gave my best inquisitorial look and continued listing.

"We were the ones who: had to pay for the vet, vaccines, medicine, and special bath products for dogs with 'sensitive skin'. Not to mention that we were the ones who had to take them for walks, when this strange menstrual cycle of a certain person frequently appeared without any warning."

I listed each thing on my fingers without taking my eyes off hers, while she blinked and slightly looked away.

"...yeah."

I had an insane urge to hit her with all my might right now, but at the same time I was also happy about it. This interaction between us certainly shows that I recovered and things returned (as far as possible in our situation) to normal.

But still.....

'Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, would you punish me severely if I gave her a flying kick to the head right now?'
