"I still don't quite understand how your powers work."
Clara said after taking a deep breath. One of the masks helped alleviate the smell coming from outside, but not much. It was like being next to a septic tank in the summer, after some idiot dumped the leftover food from some restaurant there.
In short, nothing good or easy to endure, but more tolerable with the masks.
"Well, from what Mari explained, it's basically like a game, except you die and there's no chance of coming back."
"That I understood. What I didn't understand was how you manage to do things with so few resources. Shouldn't there be a law or concept or something like that about weight or something?"
Clara asked, unable to express herself very well. She didn't have as much interest in science as her husband or children, who could easily discuss the subject for hours if left to their own devices.
"Law of conservation of mass. Nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed."
"Yes, that's it!"
"Well, I think we can consider that this law, as well as some others, no longer apply."
*Boom, boom boom, urrrgggghhhhg, scraaatt, boom boom.*
"Like, does that mean if you die you have to stay dead?"
"Apparently."
He replied, shrugging and breathing again into his mask. In part, it was even good that the food had run out; believe me, eating anything next to a septic tank isn't something anyone wants to do, and they had to do it or they would become hungry and weak.
Even though they were no longer human, they still needed nutrition, and ingesting anything with a powerful smell that you can feel on your tongue isn't appealing to anyone.
"Aahhhh, I hope Nando and Mari are okay."
"Honey, you know they are, you even left them protected."
"Yes, but I don't know if this property will really help."
"I didn't talk about that."
"..... I know, but still..."
Clara didn't finish speaking; instead, she opened her status to see how things were.

With a command, she opened the skills session, accessed [monitoring 1], and soon a colorless three-dimensional image of the main house where they lived appeared. It showed 6 blue dots, 5 upstairs and 1 downstairs.
Clara knew that 2 of the dots were her children and assumed they were both upstairs. After all, even with their petty squabbles, arguments, and occasional fights, Mari and Nando got along especially well as brother and sister.
She also knew, though she wasn't sure, that Nando had been badly injured trying to find the stone they needed and constantly tormented himself for not being there when his children needed him.
"Don't blame yourself, I was the one who mentioned the stone needed to fix the engine, it's all my fault."
"Don't do that, I also said we needed the car to find Júlie, it's my fault too."
It was easy for them to get caught up in this blame game for too long.
Vitor wanted the car working to know how his sister was doing, Clara wanted to know how her eldest daughter was doing; both blamed themselves for putting their son in a dangerous situation for their own interests. But they knew that no matter how much they insisted, the other wouldn't give in to this game.
The best thing would be to stop and try to think about other things.
"Aaahhhhh~, my skills are very useful but the cost for them is annoying."
"Well, there's not much to be done. According to Mari, that's one of the points, you win on one side and lose on the other."
The black woman shrugged, after all, even common skills needed mana to activate. If Vitor's ability to create items didn't have a drawback, it would go against all logic, even in a world where monsters now existed.
"But if my job isn't focused on combat and is more dependent on others, shouldn't it be a little more flexible?"
In reality, no. Even though the world may seem devoid of common order, it still exists, and even the rule of conservation of mass still exists; it has simply become a little more flexible with the addition of mana. But in Vitor's specific case, this flexibility wouldn't happen simply because it was already quite active for him.
After all, Vitor's job wasn't entirely production-based, at least not a normal production job. In the world now, the choice of jobs is highly significant; after all, it now determines not a way to earn money and contribute to society, but a way to ensure complete survival.
The choice between a combat job like the [Fighter] Fernando chose, or a more support-oriented job like Mari's [Trainer] or even Calra's [Civilian] job, is of paramount importance; securing food, a safe base, and the ability to heal are fundamental.
But even in a world undergoing an apocalypse, there will still be a demand for certain comforts, comforts that people with production jobs satisfy.
However, Vitor's work was not ordinary production; in fact, it wasn't even that of an ordinary [Craftsman]. After all, what kind of craftsman could work with a car engine and integrate it with a magic stone?. That would be more geared towards magi-tech, and that's exactly what Vitor really was.
A [Beginner Magi-Tech Craftsman].
