Phew, it was a struggle deciding on the skills. I just hope this [laziness] doesn't get in the way too much. I only chose it because it gives me the extra 3 Atp I needed to complete the offensive skills.

I think it took me about 10 minutes to decide all of this.

Oh! And by the way.

HOW LONG DID I SLEEP FOR SHE'S ALREADY LEVEL 7????!!!!!.

"Hmm, impressive that you already have so many racial abilities, you really are a bat like Mom said."

Mari said suddenly, taking me a little out of my surprise.

"What do you mean? It's not normal to have multiple racial abilities. Like, now that we're no longer human?"

"From what the mother, father, and I have experienced, there have been a few. But usually no more than 3, or 4 in the father's case, but you already have 6. I think that shows your great compatibility with the new race."

She said with her hand on her chin. Honestly, I don't know if she meant it as a compliment or not.

"If compatibility is related to our habits, why do you have abilities like [Tracking] and [Kneading]? You're usually the one who needs to be coddled."

As expected, she punched me in the head, knocking me to the other couch. At least this time it wasn't hard enough to destroy it or further decrease my HP.

"Oops, I thought a giant mosquito was about to bite you."

She said, looking at me without a hint of guilt. You can understand what I meant about her needing to be coddled with this, right?!

"You're still thinking nonsense, aren't you?"

"No, it was just an impression. Anyway, how about you just answer this genuine question quickly, and then finish the story about how you and our parents got separated. And where they are."

She stared at me for a few moments, but then just snorted and answered.

"The [tracking] and [tame] came from my work as an amançadora, as well as animal communication that went up a notch. Besides, you haven't chosen one yet, have you?"

No, but like the skills, I think that can wait until later. For now, I think my current stats and abilities should be enough. I'm only level 2, but except for magic and charisma (which I don't even have), I'm almost on par with her, who's level 7.

"It doesn't matter now, and weren't you the one who said we could be attacked at any moment? Just finish it so we can prepare."

"You're the one who interrupted, creature!!!!. ~Aaahhhh~, you're right where I left off... Oh, right, after Mom pulverized the goblin, it seemed like it finally sank in that things weren't normal, even if them practically rejuvenating 20 or 30 years wasn't a great idea."

She said it with some disdain, but honestly, I don't blame them for that.

"Right after all the goblins were killed, we all received level-up notifications, even me, even though I hadn't done anything."

She said, a little downcast.

"Well, you caught the attention of some goblins, so maybe that counts as part of the combat?"

"Maybe, but that doesn't matter now. After the notification appeared, Mom and Dad didn't understand what to do. I had to do the same old routine: calm them down, try to explain how things work with RPG-style status panels, etc. After they allocated the points and decided on skills and jobs, we searched the house more."

'Hey, didn't she say before that she had to allocate the points in the middle of a battle or something?!'

I only thought about it, didn't even put it on my face, but it was enough for her to give me a death glare... Okay, she might not read minds, but maybe the Mana in the air has enhanced her feminine sixth sense or something... and if she did this to every woman in the world...

Better not dwell on it too much.

"Anyway!!"

She said, forcing me back to the story.

"Soon we saw that everyone's rooms had been ransacked too, except mine, thanks to Baby."

Baby was another turtle of my sister's, younger and smaller, so her aquarium/vivarium was in the same room. I don't even have the energy to be surprised by animals altered by magic anymore, it seems.

"Shortly after, we found you and saw that you were still asleep. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't even get close, and no matter how much we yelled, you didn't react. After five minutes, we decided it was useless to try to wake you and we had more important things to do."

What a way to break it to your brother, huh?

"There wasn't much we could do for you like that, honestly. And thanks to all the yelling we did, several goblins and shadow wolves appeared."

"Shadow wolves? Not Bargests?"

"No, they were shadow wolves. They didn't have chains around their bodies and didn't release flames from their mouths or snouts, and the elimination notice called them shadow wolves."

Well, I should have guessed that. Even though things were similar to games, that doesn't mean everything would follow the same logic. With only weak or rare monsters in an area, although if that were the case, there wouldn't have been any way for the Bargests to appear in the first place.

"After we eliminated them, the father decided to make a makeshift barricade by placing the EcoSport in front of the broken gate and the guest room bed in front of the living room window."

'~Oh, right, I thought the room was bigger~. But wait!!! Where did the bed go!!! It definitely wasn't serving as a barricade when I woke up?!'

If she noticed this scream from my soul, she didn't react and just continued.

"After things calmed down a bit, I realized that since we woke up, we hadn't heard or seen Lumi or Nawa. I was desperate, not knowing what had happened to my sweet babies. Then, out of nowhere, I heard a faint voice calling me from the front yard just as their father was finishing parking the car in front of the gate."

"The next thing I knew, I was standing in front of the orange tree and hearing a low but still audible voice asking what was going on, what had happened to everyone, why everyone was different."

"I felt great confusion and fear coming from it, and when I put my hand on the trunk, I formed a connection with it and learned several things I never imagined about our orange tree. I knew it had three brothers who were lemon trees—isn't that crazy!?"

'I still think the craziest thing is talking to the orange tree, having it respond, and then acting like a legless Bubasaur.'

"After I formed a connection with her, she told me she'd seen the two of them run out of the house in fear after some humans broke in a few days ago."

Days!!!.

'Tsk, so I was right. I guess my enhanced sense of smell is good at determining time, to some extent, apparently.'

"Well, it seems we were asleep for a long time, according to Pomo, 3 days actually. You almost 4."

If that's the case, shouldn't I be the one with the [Drowsiness] ability, instead of [Resistance]?

"When I found out about this, I was outraged. How could they break into our house and scare away my babies? Lumi is already 12 years old, 12 years old!!!! He can't run like he used to, what if he ended up as food for something?!"

'As expected, she's more outraged about what happened to the dogs than the house. Or her brother passing out.'

"O-of course I was worried about you too, but you already know your way around (well enough), and you're human (or were). Nawa's barely two, she's still a baby, and Lumi's already old, at the age where he spends more time lying down than anything else."

'That's because you refuse to take them for a walk more than twice a month... at best. Sometimes once every two months. Luckily our house is big, so they have room to roam, otherwise…'

"After hearing Pomo. Oh, Pomo is a nickname I gave her, short for Pomona, you already know who she is, right?. Anyway, she told me where they'd gone. I headed straight in that direction... I wish I would have if Dad hadn't held me back and called Mom so we could discuss priorities."

1: Yes, I know the goddess Pomona well.

2: I can definitely see the scene of the father holding Mari, with her wanting to fly away (literally) to look for her dogs, it wouldn't be the first time.

"After almost 20 minutes of arguing, we agreed to leave Pomo, Beth, and Baby as your house guards, and we went after my babies. Using the tracking skill I gained from work, I found their trail, which led us to the park we usually take them to. It took us almost two hours to get there. Mom insisted we go slowly, always paying attention to every step we took, making us walk at the speed of snails."

She said with a pout. You know, contrary to what it might seem, my sister is usually the cautious type, but when it comes to her animals...

"We had to fight a bit, but nothing too dangerous. At most, a wolf or a small group of three goblins, and some slimes that came out of the drains."

I'm starting to understand why her level is so high.
