The rest of the drive was silent, Edward James didn't expect her to say he is her husband for the fact they've been separated for some time.
Maria didn't know why she said that but she knew she can't take back her words but she wasn't sure what's going on on his mind as he remained silent.
"Am famished" Maria said to get a reaction from him but his phone rang showing his assistant ID on the screen.
Edward had series of meetings lined up for the day but he can't leave her unattended to.
"I have a lunch meeting with a client now, do you want to come" Edward asked briefly sparing her a glance.
"I don't mind but the paparazzi might_" she was saying but Edward James speed up his driving.
In know time they arrived at a high end six star hotel and he drove them to a secluded parking space.
He handed her a dark sunshade glasses.
"Let down your hair completely" he told her as it wasn't all did into the loosed French braids, Edward took his eyes off her as she now looks more daring and if he wants to listen to his lustful body he'll take her right inside the car.
He led them through the hotel lobby and then the elevator, in all of this Edward kept a respectable distance between them to which Maria found annoying.
The sound of the elevator came and Edward led them through a beautiful passage then to a balcony.
As if on clue the waiter came and took their orders and left, they could see the city from were they're sitting and Maria focused her attention to the happenings around the town than the one seated before her.
Her every move didn't go unnoticed by Edward even though he replied to his emails on his phone.
In five minutes his assistant came with the documents he needs as well as the client he talked about.
In the process their meal arrived and Maria was frustrated.
"Is the food not to your liking darling" Edward asked softly and the two client was surprised to hear how Edward switched from iced cold to warm in a blink.
And they did a mental note not to cross Maria but to curry favor from her.
"It's good, you're not_" she was saying going to say
" Don't mind, you go ahead" Edward said calmly but looking into his eyes it was far from calm so she knew he was pretending to care then silently ate her meal.
When the meeting was done with and the clients gone she was left with Edward who she noticed drank more wine than he ate his food.
"When you're done my assistant or better still you should give your location to your assistant" Edward James said about leaving
"Edward we need to talk please" Maria said holding him by the wrist
"Mrs Olivia Roy James what are we to talk about and the last time I checked I paid for lunch" with that said he shook off her hands and walked away.
Maria couldn't help but chuckle in frustration, she felt pain in her heart, she didn't get much time to wallow in her pain because the messages from her assistant got her more worried.
