[Year X791]
~ With Shisui ~
Meredy, Ultear, and Jellal looked at Shisui expectantly as they waited to hear what he'd discovered during those two long years. After everything he'd shared about his traumatic past, they needed to understand what had changed, what had brought him back to them with that sense of completion they could all feel radiating from him.
"I had found peace."
The words were simple, but the expression on Shisui's face as he spoke them was the definition of serenity itself. There was no tension in his shoulders, no shadows lurking behind his eyes, no hint of the restless energy that had always seemed to drive him forward.
He looked like someone who'd finally stopped running from himself.
Understanding dawned on the other three members of Crime Sorciere. This was what had changed. Not just his power or his abilities, but his fundamental relationship with his own past. The guilt and regret that had shaped so much of his life had been transformed into something else, something that allowed him to exist in the present without being haunted by what came before.
Shisui had probably lived a life full of regrets, full of "what ifs", full of pain and suffering, but most importantly, full of running. But now? He no longer ran. Meredy's question from earlier, "What happened to you?", had finally been answered. And despite the many ups and downs in his explanation, it was a really good answer.
However, to their surprise, the sound of sobbing reached their ears. Meredy was crying again, her tears flowing freely as the full weight of everything she'd learned settled over her.
"What's wrong?" Shisui asked gently, his voice filled with concern as he watched her struggle with her emotions.
"You're the last Uchiha…" Meredy said through her tears, her voice breaking on the words. The finality of it, the loneliness that statement represented, broke her heart all over again. To be the sole survivor of an entire clan, to carry that legacy and that loss alone. She couldn't imagine the weight of such responsibility.
Shisui's expression softened as he looked at her tear-streaked face. He leaned forward and reached out, taking both of her hands in his with gentle firmness. His touch was warm and reassuring, grounding her in the present moment rather than the tragedy of the past.
"In blood, that may be true." He said, his voice carrying a teasing note that made her look up at him through her tears.
"But don't you forget, little missy. You bear the emblem of my clan on the back of your cloak." He paused, letting the significance of that statement sink in.
"And as the last Uchiha," Shisui continued, his voice taking on a formal quality that spoke of ancient traditions and sacred ceremonies, "I hereby announce and accept you as an honorary Uchiha. Now dry those tears."
The declaration reached Meredy as her sobbing stopped abruptly, replaced by wide-eyed wonder as she processed what he'd just said. 'Honorary Uchiha.'
Shisui's grin was infectious as he watched her reaction. "Carry our name with pride. For as long as you bear our emblem, you are an Uchiha."
Meredy laughed in a messy way, tears and snot making her response somewhat incoherent, but the joy radiating from her was unmistakable. She managed a brilliant smile despite her dishevelled state.
Ultear watched the entire exchange with something warm filling her chest, though she tried to ignore the feeling. The way Shisui handled Meredy's distress, the gentleness combined with strength, the ability to turn pain into something beautiful. It spoke to qualities she'd always admired in him but had never quite been able to name.
All she wanted now was for this night to last forever.
~ One month later ~
Shisui stood before the familiar doors of the Fairy Tail guildhall, a large bag in his hand and a satisfied smile on his face. He'd actually completed the S-rank mission on the eighth day after setting out, dealing with the final dark guild in the same manner that had marked the rest of his hunt, albeit slightly more destructive thanks to two emotional women.
But he'd spent the following month doing something far more important than reporting back to Makarov.
He'd spent it with his family.
The time with Crime Sorciere had been exactly what he'd needed. Jellal had grown closer to him during those weeks, their bond beginning to resemble the relationship he'd once shared with Itachi. Built on mutual respect and understanding rather than just professional cooperation. Meredy had continued to solidify herself as the loving little sister he'd never known he wanted, her enthusiasm and genuine affection brightening every day they spent together.
But the most shocking development had been his evolving relationship with Ultear.
Shisui's cheeks reddened slightly as he remembered their first intimate moment, shared in the privacy of a hot spring during their second week together. The memory might have remained a treasured secret between them if Meredy hadn't been watching the entire time, leading to weeks of relentless teasing that had somehow managed to bring them even closer together.
Their subsequent dates had become elaborate games of hide-and-seek, with Ultear and Shisui trying to find moments alone while Meredy hunted them down with Jellal reluctantly in tow. Whenever the younger woman caught them, she would demand a "family day" as compensation, forcing all four of them to spend time together in activities that ranged from shopping to sightseeing to elaborate meals at expensive restaurants.
It had been the best month Shisui had experienced in years. But now it was time to return to work.
He pushed open the guild hall doors and was immediately greeted by a scene of domestic chaos. Lisanna and Romeo were running around the main hall, desperately trying to escape from a giggling Asuka who was chasing them with her wooden kunai held high like a battle standard. The adults watched the chase with fond amusement, their laughter adding to the warm atmosphere.
"Shisui, you're back so soon?" Bisca called out, noticing his arrival.
But the moment his name was spoken aloud, everything changed. Asuka's attention snapped away from her pursuit of Romeo and Lisanna with laser-like focus, her head turning toward the entrance like a tracking spell.
"SHISHI-NI!!!" she yelled, immediately abandoning her previous targets and launching herself toward him in one single motion that defied all laws of physics.
Shisui caught her easily, the manoeuvre now so common that it seemed effortless. With one hand holding the excited toddler and the other raising his large bag, he smiled at the assembled guild members.
"I brought gifts!" He announced, and the resulting giggles from Asuka and cheers from the rest of the guild made him feel like he had truly found a new home.
