Chapter 139: A Storm in the Shadows
ARIA'S POV
The air was thick with tension, like the humid stillness before a thunderstorm. I could feel it in my bones—something was coming. Something was shifting. I stood near the edge of the balcony in the West Wing of the Moonfall Fortress, staring out at the dusky horizon as clouds began to roll in. Behind me, the murmurs of the council's argument carried faintly through the stone walls.
They'd called another emergency meeting, one I was forbidden to attend. Again. I was the Luna now, not just some omega or pawn. But still, the old ways clung to this fortress like vines choking a dying tree.
My hand drifted to my belly, where the bond-mark from Killian still pulsed faintly beneath my skin. I wasn't alone anymore. And I wasn't going to stay silent.
Footsteps approached from behind. I didn't have to turn to know it was Theron. His presence was quieter now, but I'd learned to read his emotions from the energy he gave off.
