Chapter 3 - Hope

"look, nothing is guaranteed but I suppose that you want me as your coach, am I right? " He replied.

Kuvira giggled "looks like that I underestimated your abilities, you're smarter than I thought." with a smile spread across her face.

This kid is thinking of putting me to the best use, I guess I wouldn't mind this kind of entertainment as long as everyone benefits anyway. He thought

"look over there, there's the gymnasium sign, we're here... I think that's when the boys' team practice starts." she said in an excited tone.

she added "ok let's go inside and watch them".

Okami sensed that she was counting on him a lot and placing her hopes on him, which forced him to say to her: "listen kid, don't put too much hope on something intangible...Can I make a deal with you before watch this training?"

"absolutely yes" she said. "But it depends on the deal, you know that" she added.

He replied in a calm tone " Look I didn't promise you anything specific, so don't expect much from me. I'm just here to watch, and maybe I can help after I think about how to help you later...Here's the deal, don't introduce me to your friends as someone important, I'm just here to watch"

she smiled "okay, deal .... fair enough".

Kuvira and Okami entered the Gymnasium, which was truly spacious.

The hall was fully covered and had numerous bleachers and courts for indoor sports, as well as a fitness room.

All the courts were dark red. The hall contained three handball courts, two volleyball courts, and only one basketball court.

Only two courts were occupied with people, a handball court and a volleyball court.

Okami's face was filled with surprise and he looked at her with a puzzled look. "How could you call this place just a gymnasium ?! You're definitely joking. It's an athlete's paradise, an entire sports complex."

"Excuse me ?!" She said, then added, " I didn't call it that, but you did!" she kept laughing.

" Then why didn't you correct me!" Okami replied. "Anyway, it seems that city isn't so bad after all."

Kuvira shouted loudly, greeting the boys on the handball field. "Hello, Fellas. We just came to watch. Don't let me down in front of this stranger who just came to watch." Kuvira accompanied her words with a wink that Okami didn't see.

They both sat on the bleachers of this court.

Okami whispered to Kuvira, "let me just make sure. Did what you told them contain any code of some kind? " Kuvira Quickly responded "No…no, of course not. We have a deal."

So, my suspicion was correct. It was a coded message laced with something. That was to be expected from that mischievous girl, anyway. He thought.

The boys on the volleyball court watched all this silently as they warmed up for a good start to practice. The volleyball court contained about ten boys, with an average age of fourteen years at most.

Meanwhile, on the handball court, there were about twelve boys slightly older than the boys on the volleyball court, probably around the same age as Kuvira.

One of the boys stood at the center circle and said firmly "Oi, fellas — no messing around. Training starts now."

Okami crossed his arms silently, his eyes locked on the court.

Let's see what you've got.
