Chapter 170 - NT 170: Madara’s Hopes

At a Konoha encampment on the Iwagakure battlefield, Minato faced Kakashi and Nohara Rin. "Where's Obito?"

Kakashi and Rin looked grief-stricken, mourning their recently fallen comrade, Uchiha Obito.

Kakashi's left eye now held Obito's Sharingan.

"Could it be…" Minato's voice trailed off, sensing the truth. "Kakashi, tell me."

"Minato-sensei, Obito's dead." Kakashi said, his voice heavy with sorrow.

"I see." Minato said, taking a deep breath. "Kakashi, that Sharingan in your left eye, it's from Obito, isn't it? Use it well. Both of you, rest for now."

"Understood, Minato-sensei." Kakashi and Rin said, leaving the tent.

"Obito." Minato murmured, picturing the lively Uchiha. Though not a prodigy among his clan, Obito's cheerful nature and selflessness endeared him to Minato.

To think he'd perish in this ninja war was unthinkable.

Minato had seen countless Konoha ninjas fall, but Obito was his student, a personal loss.

"Obito." Minato said again, standing and gazing out the window.

"This ninja war, we'll end it soon. I swear it." He vowed silently.

In this battle, Konoha achieved a tactical victory, their reinforcements crippling Iwagakure's forces, forcing them to retreat into the Land of Earth.

Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique earned renown among Konoha and Iwa ninjas alike, cementing his reputation as the Yellow Flash.

Though he couldn't rival Tengen, the moniker "Yellow Flash" began to spread.

In Konoha, within the Hokage's office, Sarutobi Hiruzen exhaled in relief. "Konoha's no longer at a disadvantage."

The recent standoff with Kumogakure had stabilized, thanks largely to Tengen's intervention.

During Kumo's counterattack, Konoha's first wave of reinforcements nearly perished, but Tengen's timely arrival turned the tide.

Iwagakure's latest assault had been perilous, yet Konoha's ninjas held firm.

"Minato, Jiraiya's student." Hiruzen said, smiling.

Wars bred heroes, with Tengen at the forefront. Minato and others also shone brightly.

Their distinguished service, not only slaying many enemies but also saving Konoha from peril, was exemplary.

Minato had performed admirably against Iwagakure.

"I hope this ninja war ends soon." Hiruzen said gravely.

Such conflicts harmed both sides, especially with Konoha facing three villages.

Though the enemy suffered greater losses, prolonged fighting benefited no one.

In a hidden underground chamber in the Land of Earth, Uchiha Obito stirred. "Ugh… where am I?" He muttered, his right eye still functional.

"Where is this?" He said, realizing his body was immobile.

"Don't move, kid. Your body's barely stabilized, it needs time to heal." An aged voice said. An old man approached.

"How do you feel?" The man asked.

"Wasn't I dead?" Obito said, confused, recalling the boulder that crushed him.

"I saved you." The man said slowly.

"You saved me? Thank you! I need to find Kakashi and Rin, let them know I'm alive." Obito said, excitement flickering across his face.

He hadn't expected to survive.

"Your body can't move yet. Wait until you're stronger." The man said, glancing at him.

"Who are you?" Obito asked, studying the stranger.

"I am Uchiha Madara." The man, no, Uchiha Madara, said calmly.

"That's impossible! Madara was killed by the First Hokage." Obito said, incredulous.

Konoha's history of Madara's defeat by Hashirama at the Valley of the End was common knowledge.

"What you see and hear isn't always true." Madara said evenly.

"What do you want?" Obito demanded.

"What's your name, kid?" Madara asked, eyeing him.

"Uchiha Obito." He answered.

"Obito, is it? My wish is to bring peace to the world, a hope I shared with Hashirama, through the power of Infinite Tsukuyomi." Madara said, outlining his plans.

"No, no! I don't want that. I'm leaving." Obito said, rejecting Madara's vision. "Besides, Konoha's Tengen is incredible. He has your power and the First Hokage's. You might not even beat him."

"Is that so?" Madara said, a faint smile crossing his lips. Though Tengen wielded the Mangekyō and Wood Release, he likely lacked the Rinnegan.

Madara retained some confidence.

"Stay here for now." Madara said coolly. "Zetsu, watch him."

"Yes, Madara." White Zetsu replied as Madara approached a wall.

A massive, anguished wooden statue loomed, the Gedō Statue, the husk of the God Tree. Its vast life force sustained Madara's existence.

"Obito, huh?" Madara's eyes gleamed coldly.
