Chapter 124 - NT: 122: Walking into the Trap

At that moment, Tengen noticed a signal for an ultra-clear video on his player.

The clearer the video signal, the greater the danger it represented. With Tengen's current strength, he had little to fear, but in a battlefield like this, such a signal likely meant a large group of Suna-nins was lurking nearby.

Thus, Tengen sent Kushina to alert Jiraiya and the others, mobilizing Konoha's forces.

As for Tengen, he set out to secure the ultra-clear video signal, which promised something valuable.

"Sky Dance Technique." Tengen's figure rose into the air, speeding toward the signal's source with remarkable swiftness.

Such was the speed of the Sky Dance Technique.

In a secluded area of Kikyo Mountain, numerous ninjas bore the headbands of Sunagakure, marking them as Suna-nins. They were busy setting up something unknown.

Kazekage Rasa and Chiyo stood among them.

"It's almost ready. The barrier will be complete soon." Rasa said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "After that, we just need to lure Tengen's team here."

"Some Suna-nins may need to be sacrificed to make Tengen take the bait. Otherwise, that cunning kid won't pursue us recklessly." Chiyo noted.

"That's a valid concern." Rasa agreed, nodding. Ordering a retreat without cause was impractical on the battlefield. If Tengen's team didn't stay to fight, he wouldn't rashly chase them, wary of traps.

Tengen, despite his youth, acted like a seasoned veteran, lacking the impulsiveness of a child. This made Rasa's task harder, his strength was formidable, and his intelligence and emotional control were equally impressive.

"What about Shukaku, the One-Tail?" Chiyo asked.

"Shukaku." Rasa said with a smile, pointing to a large, jar-like object nearby, covered in eerie patterns. "It's sealed inside that."

"Shukaku is sealed in there?" Chiyo remarked, intrigued.

"Yes. Everything is prepared. We just need to draw Tengen here." Rasa said, chuckling.

Given Tengen's importance, Rasa had taken no chances, ensuring every detail was meticulously planned.

"Kazekage-sama, the barrier is complete and ready for testing." a Suna-nin reported respectfully, approaching Rasa and Chiyo.

"Good. Take a break and prepare for the test." Rasa instructed.

"Yes, Kazekage-sama!" The ninja replied eagerly, honored to serve.

Meanwhile, high above, Tengen observed the scene below. Countless Suna-nins were gathered, including familiar faces, Kazekage Rasa and the puppeteer Chiyo, along with hundreds of others.

For Rasa to personally lead such a force here, they must be planning something significant. Why else would the Kazekage leave the main army?

Tengen's gaze fell on the formation below, noting the Suna-nins' positions and certain props. It appeared to be an unactivated barrier.

"They've gone to great lengths." Tengen mused, floating in the air. For the Kazekage to orchestrate such an elaborate setup, it was likely aimed at a Konoha-nin, probably Tengen himself.

But now, he had discovered their plan.

Still, Tengen needed to descend, as the ultra-clear video signal was there.

"Let's go." Tengen's figure plummeted toward the ground.

"Who's there?" Rasa's expression shifted as he looked up, spotting a dark silhouette descending. When the figure landed, Rasa froze.

He had planned to trap Tengen, yet Tengen had walked right into their midst.

"Tengen…" Rasa's face darkened. "How did you find this place?"

"Just stumbled upon it." Tengen said, shaking his head.

"I was planning to hunt you down, but whether by chance or not, you're staying here!" Rasa roared. "Activate the barrier!"

"Yes!" Dozens of Suna-nins shouted, forming complex hand seals before slamming their palms into the ground.

A hazy, earthen-yellow light surged from the earth, rapidly forming a towering, semicircular barrier that trapped Tengen inside.

The yellow light connected to the jar with strange runes, the vessel sealing Shukaku, the One-Tail.

Seeing Tengen trapped, Rasa exhaled in relief. Moments ago, he'd been tense, fearing Tengen might escape. Without the barrier, their plan would have been useless.

But now, Tengen was confined, and the trap was set.

Meanwhile, Tengen's ultra-clear video signal had finished downloading. He didn't check it immediately, instead turning his attention to what Rasa might say next.

"Kazekage, Chiyo Jōnin, was this barrier made just for me?" Tengen asked, piecing together clues from Rasa's earlier words.

"You're sharp. This was indeed prepared for you. We were still figuring out how to lure you in, but you walked right into our trap." Rasa said, laughing triumphantly.

"Is trapping me your only goal?" Tengen asked calmly.

Trapping him without a follow-up plan would be pointless. Tengen could keep attacking the barrier until it broke.

"Rest assured, trapping you is just the first step. It may not kill you outright, but you'll come to appreciate what I've prepared." Rasa said with a smirk.

Rasa formed hand seals and placed his palms on the barrier, causing it to glow brightly. The patterns on the jar vanished, and cracks began to spread across its surface.

Bang! The jar shattered.

A white light flashed, accompanied by a deafening roar.
