Zoe's POV
Seth and I drove in silence.
The evening breeze whispered through the open window, ruffling my hair and filling the car with wavy sounds as we sped down the road. The sun hovered low in the sky, gold, soft, and lazy, preparing to pack its bags for the night.
Seth took all the backroads—the kind no one used anymore. They stretched past open fields, rusted fences, and empty lots. The kind of roads that led away from the town.
I let my hand dangle out the window, slicing through the wind until we turned off the main road and the tires crunched over gravel. I pulled my hand back inside.
"Where are we?" I asked after a while.
"You'll see," he said, a smile playing on his lips as he turned onto a trail that looked like a forgotten path through the woods.
