Chloe's words hung in the room like a cloud refusing to dissolve
"Seth told me you were also at Jason's."
Why Seth?!
I nearly choked on my breath.
"I just wanted to say thank you… for looking out for me. It meant a lot."
I froze.
In an instant, my mouth seemed to lose its ability to form words. My eyes locked on hers, no matter how desperately I wished to look away, they held me captive. In that fleeting moment, an overwhelming wave of emotions crashed over me—feelings I couldn't explain. I had never imagined she would choose to speak to me—especially not like this
She stood just inches away, and I could feel the warmth of her presence.
It wasn't just what she said—it was how she said it.
