Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: Dragon Slayer Sword and the Violet Gold Dragon Eyes

A single drop fell with a soft sound touching the ground with a faint shimmer. It was blood yet unlike any ordinary essence it glowed with a violet gold brilliance that seemed to radiate both the warmth of the sun and the majesty of the heavens. As it touched the ground an invisible pulse of bloodline power swept outward like a tidal wave rushing across the entire expanse of West Dragon Island.

Every Taixu Ancient Dragon clan member felt their blood boil within them. Phantom forms of their ancestral dragons emerged unbidden from their bodies roaring into the sky. These mighty apparitions turned as one toward the figure of Zi Yan and then without hesitation lowered themselves in reverent kneeling their heads bowing to the earth as though before a supreme ruler.

"All dragons submit" The words were not shouted yet the meaning was carved into the hearts of all present.

The Three Kings stared in shock their expressions shifting through disbelief and alarm. Even they the proud rulers of their respective islands felt a dangerous temptation to kneel before her. And this was from a single drop of her blood alone.

What kind of bloodline could achieve such a feat They could not answer. Even the Dragon Emperor of the past could not create such an overwhelming compulsion. They had never before witnessed blood of violet gold. Its presence brought two impossible sensations at once — a desire to kneel and serve mixed with an untouchable sanctity that warned them not to profane it.

Around Zi Yan dragon patterns formed out of pure energy their lines shimmering with the purest violet gold. Within that light a small dragon of violet gold hue swam lazily through the air its body insubstantial yet radiating the aura of life. Though surrounded by the mighty dragon phantoms of the Three Kings this little dragon displayed no aggression at all toward them. Its demeanor was not one of caution but of utter disregard.

It was the contempt of one who looked down on those weaker. This was no lifeless image or conjured beast but a living conscious dragon born of her bloodline a true Violet Gold Dragon.

A low roar echoed from the direction of the Three Kings. Their pride could not allow the attention of all to remain fixed upon Zi Yan without contest. The bloodline duel had yet to even begin yet they felt they had already lost half the battle in the eyes of the spectators.

Their roars drew the focus of the crowd back to the center. The violet gold dragon slowly opened its eyes. Yet instead of turning toward the other dragon phantoms its first gaze went toward the young girl in the cyan dress who stood at the North King's side her face concealed by a blue fox mask.

A subtle hum rose as an invisible tide of dragon might pressed toward the masked girl. Her body shuddered and she gave a muffled sound of strain retreating several steps as if the air itself had turned to stone against her. A shadow began to manifest around her but before it could take full form the North King's dragon phantom swept its massive tail and dispersed the oppressive wave.

"Since this is a battle of bloodlines do not involve the Saintess of my island" the North King's voice was cold.

The violet gold dragon turned its gaze back the motion slow yet tinged with displeasure at being interrupted.

"Please" Zi Yan's voice was soft yet it carried to every ear.

The violet gold dragon twisted its body once and rose into the air floating above all. The three massive dragon phantoms of the Kings felt the oppressive weight of its aura and unconsciously shifted backward. The disparity in power was plain to see.

The South King's face tightened. "Enough holding back" he muttered under his breath. With a snap of will his phantom lunged forward the colossal tail sweeping through the air with the force of a falling mountain toward the violet gold dragon. Space itself rippled and black cracks spread outward from the point of impact.

The small dragon however merely watched its attacker with haughty eyes unmoving.

"Could it be only for show" The South King felt a flicker of hope. The enormous tail descended with unstoppable momentum until at the last instant the little dragon lifted one small golden claw and pressed it gently against the oncoming strike.

The size difference was absurd one foe measured in thousands of feet the other smaller than a human. Yet when claw met tail a deep resonant hum filled the sky. The colossal appendage shattered into fragments of energy that dissolved into the air.

The backlash sent a rushing wind across the entire island forcing many spectators to shield their faces. A cry of pain tore from the South King's phantom which nearly disintegrated under the counterforce retreating thousands of feet in panic. The violet gold dragon resumed its lazy drifting as though nothing had happened.

Both West King and North King exchanged glances each seeing in the other's eyes the same unspoken thought. This was not merely a stronger bloodline it was an entirely higher order of being.

Excitement stirred through the crowd of clan members from all islands. "Is this truly the blood of our Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan Did our ancestors once wield such strength" The pride and awe in their voices was undeniable. Many clenched their fists feeling a fierce joy in their heritage. The air shook with cheers and the roar of approval.

The Three Kings however stood grim faced their complexions shifting from pale to flushed. What had begun as a contest between three had turned to four with the arrival of East Dragon Island. Now the fearsome display of Zi Yan's bloodline left them looking like little more than supporting actors in their own drama.

A faint ripple of space passed unnoticed by most but Hun Miesheng sitting at ease upon the throne tapped a finger against the armrest a faint smile playing at his lips. These three were about to join forces.

In the air the three colossal dragon phantoms moved in sudden unison their bodies weaving together head to tail until they formed a circling ring around the violet gold dragon.

"Three against one" murmurs rose from the younger warriors "How shameless" Yet their protests were quickly silenced by glares from their elders.

Zi Yan's face paled slightly. The power of the violet gold dragon was great but it demanded much of her. She could not maintain it forever.

The three dragons moved faster their paths forming intricate patterns. From their bodies golden dragon patterns emerged flowing outward then contracting sharply into a single golden ring. With a pulse of power it ignored distance and space and wrapped itself around the violet gold dragon binding it tightly.

The Three Kings exhaled in unison. "Now" they thought together.

The dragons raised their heads and roared. The sound rolled across the sky for endless miles shaking the very bones of those who heard it. The weaker among the spectators collapsed unconscious their minds unable to endure the force.

Golden light surged from each of the three phantoms gathering into a single point. Slowly the shape of a massive golden sword emerged in the sky.

"The Dragon Slayer Sword" gasps spread through the crowd. This was a technique reserved solely for those of the royal bloodline of the clan a weapon of judgment capable of executing even their own kind should the need arise. No single King could form it alone. This sword was born from the combined might of all three.

The blade descended from the heavens toward the violet gold dragon. The air shuddered as though the very laws of the world bent before it. Zi Yan's hands tightened until her knuckles whitened. 'I cannot let him look down on me' she thought.

Her eyes opened fully. Within them shone a pair of pupils of pure violet gold. In that instant the demeanor of the violet gold dragon shifted. Gone was its careless grace. In its place was the bearing of a ruler one who stood over all creation unchallenged.

From those eyes an unseen wave radiated outward. The Dragon Slayer Sword halted mid fall as though the air itself had turned solid. The flow of breath the movement of energy even the surging of fighting qi in the world all froze. The three colossal dragon phantoms themselves became statues suspended in the sky.

Where her gaze passed space itself was bound and sealed. This was the ultimate expression of the clan's mastery over the power of space.

"Scatter" Zi Yan's voice was quiet yet absolute.

In an instant the golden ring shattered. The sword dissolved into motes of light. The three dragon phantoms faded into nothing. Only the violet gold dragon remained aloft supreme and solitary its presence filling the heavens.
