Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Bloodline Transformation Purple Qi from the East

A voice filled with quiet mockery drifted down from the sky and pressed heavily upon the army of black armored Dragon Scale soldiers. The sheer force of the aura crushed them until they lay prostrate against the earth unable to even lift their heads.

The sudden change left every single one of them shocked their faces drained of color.

Upon his brow the commander Xuan Mo felt beads of cold sweat forming. In the face of this terrifying presence and the phantom of a Taixu Ancient Dragon above he could feel two overwhelming pressures at once. His knees struck the ground with a heavy thud before he even realized it and his body refused to rise again.

His eyes widened in disbelief. He was a two star Dou Sheng yet under this force he could not move a finger. His blood felt as though it had turned molten and the strength within him was locked away as if sealed by an unseen hand. Deep within his veins the faint trace of Taixu Ancient Dragon bloodline trembled and shivered without his control.

Could it be that this clan had truly birthed another of the royal bloodline The thought clawed through his mind as he struggled to lift his head. The aura that pressed upon him was at least equal to that of a five star Dou Sheng.

Was there such a figure in East Dragon Island since the old Dragon Emperor's disappearance they had not seen such power in many years.

The shadow of the figure above fell across his face. Slowly his eyes rose. The invitation scroll clutched in his hand was plucked away as easily as if taken from a child.

A face both strange and unsettling met his gaze the edges of its features holding an almost demonic allure. Hun Miesheng regarded the scroll with a half lidded glance then patted Xuan Mo's cheek as if in casual dismissal.

"This invitation East Dragon Island accepts. Tell your South King that in five days the bearer of our royal bloodline will arrive at South Dragon Island on time" Hun Miesheng said his tone calm and absolute.

"Now leave"

The words were followed by a pulse of raw Dou Qi bursting outward from his hand. The force hurled Xuan Mo away his body rolling through the air like a toy before striking the ground hundreds of feet away.

Xuan Mo's mind reeled. Without looking back he shouted for his soldiers. The black armored Dragon Scale army fell into disarray scrambling to retreat alongside their commander leaving East Dragon Island as quickly as they could.

The people of East Dragon Island stood frozen staring after the retreating force then turning to the stranger who had so easily swept them aside.

Zhu Li the third elder studied Hun Miesheng closely his mind a storm of thoughts. Who was this man To possess such strength was beyond anything East Dragon Island had seen since the old Dragon Emperor had vanished.

Taking a steadying breath Zhu Li stepped forward and bowed slightly. "Thank you senior for lending your hand. But our East Dragon Island truly has no one of royal blood so this invitation…" His words trailed off heavy with helplessness.

The answer came not from Hun Miesheng but from Hei Qing who had just arrived. "Third Elder in the past there was none but now we do have one"

A booming laugh echoed as three or four figures strode into view. Zhu Li's eyes lit when he recognized the tall and broad figure at their head. "Hei Qing You left to seek one of the clan with royal blood have you…" His gaze swept over the newcomers Queen Medusa among them yet he shook his head. None of them carried the distinct aura of the Taixu Ancient Dragon.

Still something about Queen Medusa troubled him. She was only at six star Dou Zun yet a faint tension rose within him as though he faced a deadly rival.

"You seek the royal bloodline It is here" Hun Miesheng drew Zi Yan forward so that all could see.

Zhu Li's eyes widened. "This…" His surprise was plain. Zi Yan's cultivation was only at the level of Dou Huang.

Hun Miesheng only smiled softly. His hand clasped around Zi Yan's slender wrist and in the space of a breath his technique moved through her meridians.

A deep hum filled the air.

The immense phantom of a Taixu Ancient Dragon burst upward towering into the sky like a sovereign gazing down upon the world. Its shadow fell across all present forcing every one of them to stagger back step after step. The suppression that came from blood alone drove the urge to kneel deep into their bones.

"This truly is the purest of royal bloodlines" Zhu Li's weathered face flushed with color.

"If my guess is right Zi Yan may well be a direct descendant of the old Dragon Emperor himself" Hei Qing said his own voice alight with excitement.

"The direct descendant of the old Dragon Emperor" Zhu Li repeated before dropping to one knee in reverence. "I Zhu Li third elder of East Dragon Island greet the new Dragon Emperor"

His voice rang with such force that it seemed to fill the entire island. At first the others were stunned but then one by one figures dropped to their knees.

"We greet the new Dragon Emperor" Voices thundered together shaking the air as if the sea itself had risen to roar.

Zi Yan stood frozen by the sight and sound. "I am… the new Dragon Emperor"

"Miss is without doubt the descendant of our old master and carries the purest royal bloodline. This position is yours by right" Zhu Li declared firmly.

Zi Yan turned toward Hun Miesheng. He smiled and brushed a hand gently through her hair. "Go on"

Their closeness drew a flicker of expression from the watching elders but nothing was said. Surrounded by the loyal guardians of East Dragon Island Zi Yan was led through the halls and grounds learning of the island's layout and hearing stories of the old Dragon Emperor and his queen.

Hun Miesheng and his companions were treated with high honor. Except for the few restricted places of the island there was nowhere they were barred from.

Within Hun Miesheng's core a faint buzzing rose growing stronger with each moment he spent on the island. His eyes turned to the void beyond the white barrier. Something out there called to him a deep ancient pull that only became more insistent.

It was the Void Lightning Pool.

He forced the feeling down with a shake of his head. Now was not the time. First the matters of the island must be settled.

As if fate had conspired the South King had chosen this time to declare a contest among the four Dragon Islands to decide the emperor. It would save him some trouble. Whatever scheme the South King plotted mattered little to an eight star Dou Sheng.

Half a day later in one of the halls Zhu Li spoke in a quieter tone to Hei Qing. "You say the palace master can awaken the young lady's royal bloodline within five days"

"Perhaps" Hei Qing admitted though his eyes were uncertain. Waiting was all they could do.

"And the palace master and the young lady…" Zhu Li's gaze darted around before asking with a hint of gossip.

Hei Qing chuckled. "East Dragon Island will need a man to stand at its heart will it not"

Upon the lip of a volcanic crater within the vast cauldron that lay there Hun Miesheng and Zi Yan stood facing one another.

"Did you see them" he asked with a faint smile.

Zi Yan nodded her eyes tinged with sadness. She had seen in a painting a woman of extraordinary beauty her face noble and serene her purple eyes luminous and her dark hair flowing like a waterfall. Even in paint her beauty was breathtaking. Zi Yan felt it deep within her heart. That was her mother.

"Brother you said I might still meet Father. Was that true"

"Have I ever lied to you"

"Brother is the best at lying" she said with a small laugh her tiger teeth flashing.

"Sit still. We begin now"

She nodded.

Hun Miesheng took her hand his technique flowing through him. From his core a steady stream of violet energy emerged passing through their joined hands and into her body. It wound through her meridians following the precise path laid out by the ancient method.

A soft sound escaped her lips as heat spread through her limbs. Within her the latent violet energy stored for so long burst forth wrapping around her like living flame until it coalesced into a cocoon of purple light.

Her blood began to change from red to pale gold then beyond to a deep royal violet gold.

From every corner of the heavens energy poured toward the volcanic cauldron in a rushing torrent.

Time passed. One day. Two days.

On the fifth day a roar split the air shaking the island to its foundations. The colossal phantom of a Taixu Ancient Dragon rose once more its body stretching for a thousand feet blotting out the sky.

In that instant the heavens changed color. From the far horizon waves of radiant purple light poured across the world.

"This is the omen of Purple Qi from the East" voices cried.
