"Charlotte, don't stay up too late reading." Isaac Thompson smiled warmly as he patted his daughter's hand. Ever since she had come back home, he had been overjoyed. Originally reluctant to let her leave home upon marriage, he was now delighted—his daughter was back, and his son-in-law naturally followed; the house felt lively again.
He found comfort in this, despite knowing his heart was not in good condition. He wasn't sure how much longer he could hold on. If he could hold a little grandson in his arms, his life would not have been in vain.
"Charlotte, work at the company is never-ending. Don't let both of you being busy make you forget about having children. I don't know how much longer my health will last, but if you and Alexander could quickly have a child, I would have no regrets." Isaac held Charlotte's hand.
