It was the day after Shuhi's investigation. Before entering the school building, Shuhi went close to the old building of her school which was closed due to being too old. Classes were held in it before,
"The gate is unlocked, good." Shuhi thought to herself when seeing the old building.
After her classes ended, she packed up her bag and went straight inside Ondo's class. After looking here and there, she spotted Ondo. She quickly went near him. Ondo at that time was gossiping with his friends.
"Hey Ondo kun. You got a moment?" Shuhi asked.
Ondo looked at Shuhi, "And you are…"
"I am Shuhi. From classroom 2-C." Shuhi replied.
"Oh Shuhi san. Wait, you went to my house the previous day, right?" Ondo immediately asked after recalling where he heard her name.
"Ya, but you were not home. Whatever, I had to talk about middle school." Shuhi said.
Hearing those two words made Ondo silent for a moment, his eyes shifted from her. He turned back to his friends, "You guys go to cafe without me. I will catch up soon." Ondo said.
The boys started moving and eventually, only Shuhi and Ondo were left. Shuhi noticed if there were anyone close or not but she couldn't sense being seen.
"Kenji kun died and you were involved, right?" Shuhi immediately charged with the question.
"What? Who is Kenji? I don't know anyone of that name." Ondo replied immediately.
"Liar. Your response is instant and pre prepared. As if you already knew what I was gonna ask."
"I told you! I don't know anyone named Kenji!"
"Back when you were in middle school, you bullied him. The bullying crossed its limits. Poor Kenji couldn't bear it!"
"Just what nonsense you are saying?"
Shuhi didn't stop and continued telling "Before his death, you had to change school. After his suicide's news had gone to your ear, you felt regret, didn't you?"
Now hearing Shuhi's words made Ondo look tense. He stepped back a little. Shuhi, seeing this, stepped forward to close the gap, "A sky full of regret in your heart! So you decided to change and be a better person by leaving your old self behind as if thinking it would wash away your crimes!"
"No, you are wrong! I didn't kill anybody!" Ondo shouted.
"Then why are you so freaked up? If you are really innocent then all of what I said wouldn't even mean a thing to you. But it does." Shuhi said.
"You are wrong! You are dead wrong…" Ondo fell on his knees, head down, tears flowing down his eyes.
"Admit it! You were indirectly involved in Kenji's suicide. Your bullying caused it." Shuhi said aloud.
Till then, what Shuhi said was her theory she made yesterday. The timing of Ondo and Kenji being in same middle school, Ondo's sudden change immediately after Kenji's death and Ondo's boundless tries to erase his middle school memories made it a plausible theory, suggesting a bully backstory of Ondo and his wish to forget it.
"Of course you were not caught back then. Kenji didn't tell anyone about his sufferings. He died with the truth. So police couldn't do anything and the case was closed. It's a kind of case which was not solvable back then but now it is due to the signs being more clear." Sushi said.
Suddenly, two boys entered the room. Seeing Ondo on the ground, they couldn't help but look at them, clearly showing the face of wondering if something was wrong. Ondo got up and rubbed his tears.
"You got this wrong. Please let's talk somewhere else." Ondo, after saying that started moving out from the class and indicated Shuhi to follow him. After some moments, they reached the old building. Ondo started going inside and Shuhi did the same.
Inside was dark. The windows were all closed with planks pinned on the wall. The small gaps allowed a very low amount of light to enter through. It was their only hope of tracking their surroundings.
Then suddenly out of the darkness, a punch landed on Shuhi's face. Receiving a direct hit, Shuhi fell on the ground. Some old boxes were stacked on top of each other. She hit them and the boxes fell.
"Ahh…what the hell!" Shuhi cried.
A few students emerged from the darkness. A total of 5. Shuhi bore the pain and took a look only to see these were the people Ondo was with when she entered inside the class.
"Those two who entered inside the classroom were my friends. I told them in advance so that I can bring you here! The cafe was a signal for them to meet here. " Ondo said, looking at Shuhi.
"Why…Ondo kun." Shuhi said.
Immediately, someone else kicked her from the right side. Without any resistance, she rolled on the ground a little due to the hit. She tried to get up but couldn't. She didn't have enough strength. Ondo came close to her and grabbed her collar to pull her up forcefully, "You think I would let you go like that! My life would be ruined if you expose it!" Ondo screamed.
He threw Shuhi away and she bumped into another stack of cardboard boxes.
"Why…" Shuhi thought to herself in pain, "why is this happening to me?"
"Tell me! Will you tell anyone?" Ondo said.
No answer came from Shuhi. She was full of pain that Ondo's words didn't reach her.
"Then I am just gonna have to keep beating you up until you…" Ondo said and landed a kick on Shuhi, "decide to keep silent!" Shuhi screamed in pain after receiving the kick.
After that Ondo took a few steps back, "guys, beat her up until she decides to keep quiet!"
The boys circled her and started hitting from all sides. Shuhi couldn't do anything so she curled up and tried to save her head. At that time, Hiroshi entered the place. He saw what was going on. Without wasting any time, he came closer, "Hey! What's going on?" Hiroshi shouted.
Ondo was so focused that he didn't sense Hiroshi's presence. The call made him turn his head. Seeing the student council president, the boys stopped. When the dust cleared, Shuhi became visible in Hiroshi's eyes.
"What the…you guys ganging up over one girl? Scumbags!" Hiroshi said.
Ondo couldn't tell the real reason for his actions since it would reveal his past. He saw Shuhi lying on the ground and wasn't responding. So he took the chance. He quickly came up with a lie to ward Hiroshi away, "Oh Hiroshi senpai. This girl betrayed my team! We had a big loss. This is what she gets!"
However Hiroshi, being the student council president, couldn't just let an innocent girl get beaten in front of him.
"Ondo, stop this. Look, we can talk this out. Whatever this betrayal thing is." Hiroshi took a few steps forward.
"You stay away from it. She betrayed my team! Mine! It's none of your business." Ondo screamed at Hiroshi.
"How funny," Hiroshi didn't flinch, "As president, this school is practically ruled by me. I won't allow such acts under my ruling."
"As you wish! You really have grown big wings due to being in power for so long." Ondo said and the doors behind Hiroshi got shut by the two students who entered in the classroom earlier when Shuhi was charging Ondo.
"I always despised you! Too much arrogance! But no more today. I got you cornered." Ondo said, ready for a fight.
"Listen, I am still saying we can avoid violence. Just have a chat." Hiroshi said.
"What? I didn't hear ya. You think you can get away with all 8 of us?" Ondo didn't pay attention to Hiroshi's proposal.
"I mean yes. I can."
That blunt response made Ondo laugh. After a few seconds, he controlled himself.
"Seriously senpai. I thought the president to be more intelligent than that. Look, you are trapped with 8 of us. And to top it off, you are unarmed…" Ondo said.
"You don't need to lecture me on my situation. And besdies…"
"Huh?" Ondo responded.
"It's not me who is trapped with you. You are the ones who are trapped here with me."
Ondo couldn't control his anger anymore. He commanded his people to attack Hiroshi. But none of them moved. Hesitation could be seen on their faces.
"What's wrong? Why are you not listening to me?"
Even though the students followed Ondo's commands, it was the student council president they were going up against. They knew the school had power hierarchy. And Hiroshi sits above Ondo in it.
"Go attack! I will take responsibility!" Ondo shouted at them.
His scream broke their hesitation. 3 of them charged at Hiroshi together. One of them tried to land a punch on Hiroshi. Hiroshi moved a little to the side, dodging the attack. Then he grabbed the hand and pulled the boy down to the ground and finished him off with a kick.
At that time, another boy came with his fist bulged. Hiroshi blocked the punch and landed another punch on his face. He got knocked down and fell a few feet back.
Hiroshi then used a judo tactic on the third boy and threw him down straight on the ground. Seeing the situation get worsened, the 4 other boys charged at him from all directions. Hiroshi dodged their attacks while simultaneously changed fighting style from karate to judo to make his attack more unpredictable and knocked down each of them one after another.
When Ondo saw he was the last one,he didn't hesitate. He assumed Hiroshi must be weak now and ran towards Hiroshi with his years of anger boiling up.
Hiroshi kicked Ondo's leg, causing him to fall. Then Hiroshi got above Ondo and pinned him to the ground. Ondo tried to get out but couldn't. Hiroshi then started punching Ondo's face. One hit after another.
"Now speak…" a punch landed, "will you…" another hit, "ever hit a girl?"
Every time he spoke something, he punched Ondo's face and slowly made his face a bloody mess.
Shuhi at that time, got up and saw all of the boys on the ground. Then she turned and saw Hiroshi beating up Ondo. Her condition was severe. Cuts all around her body and her nose was bleeding.
At that time, two girls opened the door of the building and came in. The situation came as a surprise for them. They screamed in panic and other students entered the building and saw the massacre.
"What on earth is going on?" one of them asked.
Shuhi took this chance and pointed at him. At Hiroshi.
