Chapter 157 - Artifact That Powers You

In the morning, as the sun crawled over the horizon, the light rays spilled over Luna's face. The night had passed safely.

She felt a little tired but that was nothing serious to her. She watched the golden horizon as the sunlight turned the clouds with beautiful vibrant colors of a rainbow.

At the same time, Mytri, covered in sweat and rain water, came through the doors, while wiping his face with a towel. "You're awake already? Why don't you sleep some more?"

Luna slowly turned her head at him, and after a second she grinned widely, blushing slightly "I feel fully rested! I wanted to watch the sunrise, isn't it beautiful? Hehe"

Mytri exhaled as a warm smile grew on his face "It indeed is."

"Want to eat some scrambled eggs before we go?" Mytri said while walking towards the kitchen, with slow but steady steps.

Luna happily nodded "Yes! But are we going alone? Isn't Theia going with us?"

After entering the kitchen Mytri immediately answered "No, I mentioned to her that the locks to our door are broken and she volunteered to stay, so I didn't object"

Luna frowned thinking it's not right to leave without her alone like that, but ... I need to buy those books to help her... Ughh I feel like I am doing something bad... But if that's what she chose....

"Okay! " Luna said after a while of deep thinking as she jumped towards the table and sat waiting for breakfast with a grin on her face.

After the quick but fulfilling breakfast Luna and Mytri found themselves walking down the main road of the capital city, Luna admired the massive trees growing seemingly into one point of perspective form the bottom,

Hundreds or even thousands of people walked down the main road, shopping, spending time together or even working, such road was very busy and loud at this time of the day,

Not to say the amount in the sky, people walking across the bridges were half of those on the ground.

"It's so cool, those trees are so massive and people live in them! It's so cool"

Mytri chuckled as he looked at Luna who kept rotating in place, wanting to look everywhere at the same time, a thought occurred to him, he smiled as he mentioned "Indeed they are, do you know how old they are?"

Luna stopped and looked at him, immediately asking "How old they are?"

Mytri said with a chuckle "Older than the country itself, at least thousand and a half years old, they preexisted the country, it's said that they might be eternal"

"A thousand and a half!? How is that possible" Luna erupted in disbelief as she looked up at the canopy of trees

"Indeed that'd be cool, but the coolest thing is this forest that covers most of the Lorenthel, It is the oldest on the whole continent, elves fiercely protected it, and thanks to them, it still exists in this manner "

Luna slowly watched as people walked from left side to the right on the vine-like bridges, spanning and connecting every tree in the air.

"It is really cool , but I still don't know where we are going "

Mytri sighed saying "We'll first go wherever you want to go, so where do you want to go Luna?"

"Me? Of course the book store! If there is any here..."

"There are countless of them here, so let's go to the nearest one, Is that alright with you?" Mytri extended his hand towards Luna as he watched her smiling.

"Yes!" Luna nodded as she grabbed his hand , slowly walking towards their destination, in between the loud, filled with elves' main road.

They arrive at some wooden worn down doors, with a name of the store etched into the wood, although it's degraded slightly it's still easy to read the name "Riffe Bookstore"

The bookstore just had a door and a wooden sign over it repeating the store name, without saying anything Mytri walked up to the door and pulled on the metal handle, letting Luna in.

She ran into the store and after her, Mytri followed suit behind her.

Inside the bookstore, The rows and rows of bookshelves unfolded before Luna and the smell of an old oak wood overtook her, all filled with books, the covers were mostly brown, occasionally a black one popping out, the inside of the store was decorated with molded roots and vines, the wood like decoration added to the serene feeling that this place spilled over.

Firstly Luna walked up to the counter where a beautiful green haired and blue eyed elf worked.

She leaned in, her long silky green hair brushes against the desk she stood behind, she asked with a smile radiating across her whole body "How may I help you, dear customer?"

Luna looked back at Mytri , looking at him with a gaze, unsure if she could ask for anything, Mytri immediately noticed and kneeled before her.

"Please don't hesitate, I have a lot of gold coins with me, so choose any book you want to buy, and I will buy it for you, do not hesitate if it's for you to learn"

Is this really alright, I don't know... I feel bad using him to buy me anything... But he says it's okay

It's me taking his money and giving nothing in return, it's bad…but what should i do?.

Ah, yes! I just need to give him back the money I wasted on myself!

Luna smiled from ear to ear as her face grew radiant, she said "I get it, I will do as you say!" And as she turned towards the counter she added "I will give you back the money I wasted"

But Mytri immediately stopped her by grabbing her white sleeve he said immediately in a chilling deep voice "Luna, I will never accept a money from a child, you are never wasting my money, to begin with it just lie around, I'm happy to spend it on you, so never, ever think like that"

What? Why is he mad, did I say something wrong?

"Huh? Okay..." Luna muttered.

The bookstore clerk chuckled nervously as she grasped her hand together saying "S-so what may you want to buy... I-I'll find it if we have, hehe..."

Luna pondered on her thoughts as she thought about Mytri. I don't understand, but what I said is true, isn't it? I am from a rich family and he has to work hard for coins, so how am I not wasting his coins?

I don't understand...

But what do I want to buy? Right, the promise...

"Miss, I want to buy a book about the artefacts, every book that teaches you how to create them, please!"

"I see, we have only three in stock, so I'll bring them to you immediately "

Miss immediately disappeared into the room behind her, walking through the brown curtains she rummaged as sounds of books falling and stuff being pushed to the side echoed as Luna chuckled.

Mytri looked at her as he frowned, he placed his hand over her head and caressed the top of her head. Luna noticed it and grabbed his hand and tightly pressed it onto her head with a fulfilled expression.

After a while the store clerk came back with three books in hand, she displayed them right in front of Luna.

The books were "Basic theorem on artefact and their utility", "Advanced theorem on artefact creation" and "Masterful application of advanced formulas onto the artefacts "

"Thank you miss!" Luna said as she picked the books and hugged them tightly to her chest, Chuckling Mytri stepped up and asked "How much would that be?"

"In total, it will be twenty silver coins" The clerk said, as she kept her hands in front of her body.

"I see, then please, exact amount, then thank you" After handing the silver coins to the clerk, Mytri and Luna walked out of the bookstore, onto the busy street of the capital city.

Luna blushing, she fidgeted with her finger as she looked up, "Master…"

"Yes?" Mytri answered as he glanced down at her.

"Thank you…"

Mytri was speechless at her words for a while, his mouth was agape as he placed his hand onto Luna's hair and caressed it , smiling from ear to ear, looking at her with warm, gentle eyes "Thank you. You're making this old man happy… As long as you're happy, I'm happy"

"Yes!" Luna added, she gripped the books in her arms and they headed towards the last destination of the trip, The Adventure Guild.
