Chapter 73 - Vol. 2 Abandoned?

Long ago, there was a god who so loved His creation that He split His soul into four.

From three shards arose Siltharia, Varrath, and Anveth — they shone as bright as the light itself.

And from the last shard, Nivaris emerged.

He shaped them as He willed, and as He willed, He deemed it good.

The three descended as gods into creation, bringing salvation to its misery. But Nivaris remained apart, left alone in the heavens.

She looked down upon creation and wept.

"Why have You forsaken me, Father? Why have You left me in a place devoid of You?"

"Why have You left me here… alone?"

"Why have You given me no purpose?"

Her voice echoed through the empty heavens, yet no answer came.

Her gaze turned toward creation, her heart filling with hatred — seething grief held in silence.

For centuries she lingered in the far reaches of the heavens, her sorrow deepening into despair.

Until at last, she could bear it no more.

Weeping, she whispered, "If this is what You've left me with… then I'll bear it no longer."

In a fit of desperation, she tore her divinity apart, dissolving it and her body into pure soul. That soul fell — burning like a falling star — toward creation below.

It entered a mortal child: pure, beautiful, and fragile.

And thus, her sorrow was bound to flesh…

…leaving her to wander through many lifetimes.

A white carriage, its roof traced with simple red rose patterns, rolled down a gravel path lined with lilies toward Lockheart Palace.

It came to a sudden halt as the horses reared, their front hooves striking the air with sharp snorts. The knight driving it jumped down, his boots crunching against the gravel. He walked to the door and knocked twice.

"We've arrived," he announced, pulling the doors open and setting the folding stairs in place.

Before anyone else could move, Luna hopped out first, skipping a step before spinning back to face Aria, Nyx, and Theo.

With a bright smile she exclaimed, "Ah! Sixteen days of travel, and finally home!"

Aria followed second, stepping down slowly. Each movement carried a certain grace as her strawberry-blonde hair caught the warm breeze, the sunlight glinting in her eyes. She lifted a hand to shield them, a contrast to the dim carriage where they had spent most of their journey.

Aria chuckled and reached out to pat Luna's head. Nyx and Theo emerged next, closing the carriage door behind them.

"Then, my lady Luna, I'll take the carriage to the storage," Theo said with a small bow.

"Mhm," Luna replied.

With a soft creak, the palace doors swung open. Aisha, the maid with long black hair and deep blue eyes, stepped forward.

"Welcome back, my lady," she greeted, her voice warm and her cheeks touched with a blush.

"Aisha!" Luna called, rushing toward her and wrapping her in a hug.

The carriage, now in Theo's hands, rolled away toward the storage area.

Aisha froze for a heartbeat, restraining herself from returning the embrace , it was forbidden to touch a noble without permission.

"It's been a while, Aisha!" said Luna with a grin, watching her closely.

As expected, Aisha's face turned completely red, her eyes twitching, and her hands fidgeting with excitement.

Luna laughed softly, releasing her and stepping back. She cast a smile toward Aria and Nyx before turning to Aisha again.

"Can you take me to my room? And bring tea there?"

Aisha nodded, her smile widening. "Please, follow me, my lady."

As Luna followed her, she glanced back one last time, waving to Aria and Nyx.

Aria returned the wave with a smile, nudging Nyx in the ribs to make him do the same , he had been staring off toward the garden. Nyx waved back, one hand still gripping his side.

Luna chuckled and continued after Aisha, disappearing into the palace.

Sitting in her room, in front of the sofa, with the fireplace lit to her right, Luna watched as Aisha brought the tea, placing it gently onto the table.

"Thank you. If you need, you can lie on my bed," Luna said as she picked up the cup, blowing the steam away before taking a small sip.

Aisha froze for a moment, taken aback, before bowing. "Thank you, my lady," she murmured, her cheeks flushing. She walked over to the bed, lay down upon it, and let out a soft chuckle as she rolled over.

Niva?

"What's the matter, Luna?" Niva's voice echoed in her mind.

In the dream I had… who was that white-haired girl? Luna thought, her gaze drifting to Aisha, who rolled from one side of the bed to the other, panting lightly.

Luna chuckled at Aisha's behavior.

"I… can't say it."

Can't say it? or you don't want to, Luna sighed inwardly to Niva. Such a cheapskate. chuckling she looked away from Aisha and back to the table.

"I…"

I know, I know, you don't want to ruin the journey, Luna thought again, frowning.

Oh well… can't expect everything, right?

"Yes and… yes, I'm sorry."

"It's more enjoyable to find out than to be told everything. and I can't do this ever again."

What? What do you mean? Luna asked, confused.

"Ah… Nothing. Then, sweet dreams, I'm going to sleep!" Niva said, before his presence faded.

Niva! Sigh… What am I going to do with you? Luna chuckled softly as he disappeared.

She took one last sip of her tea, finishing it, before standing and walking to the bed. Aisha was still there, panting, hugging Luna's pillow. Chuckling, Luna pulled back the duvet, crawled under it, and settled in.

Startled, Aisha jumped up. "I am sorry, my lady, I… don't know what possessed me."

Luna closed her eyes, fatigue from the journey weighing on her. "Aisha, I don't mind. Play on the bed as you did before, just don't wake me up. Thank you." She drifted into sleep, leaving Aisha standing there, uncertain if she should continue.

Taking Luna's words as truth, Aisha pulled the duvet over herself and crawled in, facing Luna. She watched her sleep, breathing heavily, her face flushed and her body trembling with quiet excitement.

"My lady Luna…" she murmured softly, eyes fixed on Luna's calm, peaceful breaths.
