ELIRA POV
The dark creature's claws missed my face by inches.
I rolled to the side just as another one lunged at me, its red eyes burning like fire in the darkness. My heart was beating so fast I thought it might explode.
"Stay back!" I shouted, throwing up my hands.
A bright silver light burst from my hands, and the shadow creatures hissed and stepped away. But there were too many of them. At least twenty surrounded me, and more were coming through the dark opening behind them.
I never thought I'd be the one standing between the Shadow Lords and Aria's rite. Me, Elira. The girl who'd been jealous of her for years. The one who'd tried to steal her place as Luna.
But here I was, and if I didn't stop these creatures, they would destroy everything.
"Moon Goddess," I whispered, "please help me."
That's when I felt it. The power running through my blood, the same power my grandmother had told me about before she died. The secret she'd made me promise to keep.
