Kuoh Academy grounds, Kuoh Town, Earth.
Noah let out a sigh as he looked up at the tear in the sky. Trihexa, having recovered its will, began resisting once more. Power bled from its massive form, forcing the breach wider. Hajime's expression tightened, sweat on his brow as the strain of repairing the damage reality returned.
"Kuh! This persistent beast!" Hajime growled.
Noah's eyes narrowed. Even with adding his strength and the Force, it was now taking more and more effort just to keep the tear from widening further.
"We can't waste any more time," he said firmly. "We need to deal with that beast now, or the damage to the dimensional barrier will continue to spread. If that happens, more creatures from the void will notice this world and begin invading."
Hajime gave a sharp nod, instantly understanding. "Alright. What's the plan?"
Alice, Anisphia, and the rest of Hajime's group, along with the leaders of the Three Factions, leaned in carefully, not daring to miss a word.
Noah lifted three fingers. "Three objectives. First: push that beast back to wherever it came from. Second: sever the anchors that were made between reality and the Imaginary Space by the Stellaron explosion. And finally: repair the breach in both planes ."
A heavy silence followed.
Michael's lips parted as if to speak, but no words came. Azazel and Shemhazai traded grim glances.
"It was… Father himself who sealed Trihexa," Gabriel said solemnly, her voice trembling. "It cost him his life…"
The weight of the tasks pressed on everyone present. To push back the monster that caused the death of God, to sever the connection that made the reality and Imaginary stuck together , and then repair the broken barrier between the two planes. The following tasks were overwhelmingly difficult…. For the people of this world, that's it.
Hajime, Alice, and Anisphia only blinked before smiling in relief.
Hajime tilted his head. "That's it?"
Alice narrowed her eyes as her mind processed what they needed to do. "So in simpler terms… First we remove the 'tumor', then to cleanse the wound properly, we will need to cut the infected parts, before we can finally patch it closed. Alright! We've got this!"
Anisphia puffs her chest with confidence. "Easy enough, especially with Captain here!"
Noah laughed at their casual confidence. "Hahaha! You summarize it too plainly, but… well, it works!"
Gabriel's heart skipped at the warmth in his laughter, her chest tightening at the sound.
The others, meanwhile, were left dumbfounded. Not because of arrogance, but at the unwavering certainty in Noah's tone.
Alice tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Pushing back Trihexa or severing the anchors? That part's manageable. Honestly, maybe the easiest task."
Anisphia nodded, realizing the deadblock. "Yeah. If it were just that, we'd already be halfway done."
Hajime exhaled, his smile fading into something more serious. "The real problem will be the last step, repairing the dimensional gap."
Alice frowned, her mind drifting briefly to the purple-haired girl of their crew, who, unknown to them, was currently bickering with Kiana as they destroyed a ship of the legion about which snack they would eat after the battle.
"There's only one among us who has truly mastered the power of the Void. But… she's up there right now," Alice murmured.
"Sirin," Anisphia pursed her lips. "The one who truly understands the Void, the layer between Imaginary and Real."
Noah let out a short snort.
They turned toward him, his grin never leaving his lips.
"Who said she can't come?" he murmured.
He took out a shining feather. Alice, Anisphia, and Hajime's eyes widened in recognition, while the rest only looked on in confusion.
"Is that—?!" Anisphia gasped.
"A feather from the Key of Sentience… Fenghuang Down," Alice whispered.
"No way… you're planning on using the Key of Sentience as a link to bring Sirin's consciousness here, even while she's still with Kiana above?!" Hajime exclaimed, realizing Noah's plan.
"Ping pong! Give Hajime a prize!!" Noah said cheerfully. "This method isn't anything new though~."
Noah puffed out his chest proudly as he explained.
"Sii has been using the Key of Sentience every now and then to manifest in the real world, even if only for a short while. By reflecting her consciousness into a feather, she essentially creates a copy of herself within it. In short, the feathers are like mirrors that allow Sii to form a small quantum realm where she can project herself into the world."
As his explanation ended, the feather pulsed with light and Quantum energy, floating from his palm. A burst of radiance blinded those around him, and when it faded, a purple-haired girl in a magical girl outfit floated beside him.
"Hello… did you miss… me?" Sirin asked in a shy, unsure tone before her cheeks flared red. She covered her face in embarrassment. "W-why did I agree to do that?!"
"There, there, Sii. You did great!! Really! It was cute and adorable, just as I expected from you!" Noah reassured, patting her head gently to comfort her.
Hajime, Alice, and Anisphia who knew Sirin's usual quiet and shy self, tilted their heads in disbelief. In their minds, this was not the Sirin they knew. Their eyes moved to Noah, still smiling as he stroked her hair.
"…You… just what are you making Sirin do?" Hajime asked in exasperation.
—--
After a while, Sirin finally recovered from her embarrassment. She floated behind Noah, half-hiding herself while listening intently to the plan to save the world. Hajime opened a communication link to every member of Team DxD, and several holoscreens came into view before them.
One screen displayed those at Kuoh Academy: Noah, Sirin, Hajime, Alice, Anisphia, and the rest of his group, along with the leaders of the Three Factions.
The second screen showed the Slash/Dog Team at the shopping street, forming a protective circle around the civilians they had rescued. Even some reporters from the local news had gathered, hurriedly jotting down their conversation. The cameras kept rolling, broadcasting everything live.
The third screen revealed the Church group at the shopping mall—Griselda, Vasco, Dulio, Irina, and Xenovia. The civilians they rescued listened closely, some even recording videos or streaming the scene as, miraculously, the internet still held up.
The fourth screen centered on the business district, where Sona and her peerage were tending to the civilians they had protected.
The fifth screen showed the Gremory group at Kuoh Park near the residential district. Rias and her peerage stood at the center, listening intently as curious civilians gathered around from the sidelines.
[...I see. Hajime-san's leader actually came and took care of all the monsters,] Sona said from her side. Her expression was still painted with disbelief, but having personally seen the quantum shadows crushed by something invisible and recalling Hajime's past feats, she accepted it more easily than most.
[...To think I would meet someone even more absurd than you, Hajime… the universe truly is vast,] Tobio remarked with a distant look.
"See! I told you there was someone more out of common sense than me!!" Hajime said smugly. Noah's smile twitched at the remark.
[...Is that really something to be proud of, Nagumo-kun?] Rias muttered with a sweatdrop.
[Getting back to the topic. It may be a relief that the dimensional monsters were already taken care of… but it's still unsettling to leave the defense of an entire planet to four… no, three people,] Vasco said, brows furrowed. He is about to say four but with Sirin now on the ground, only Kiana, Elysia, and Lumine remain fighting the enemies in orbit.
The civilians who overheard their exchange tensed once more. It was already terrifying enough to learn that monsters had invaded their reality, and now another set of enemies had come from the stars. Worse still, from what they heard, only three people were holding them back. Murmurs spread uneasily among the gathered crowd, panic threatening to rise until an adorable, almost meow-like voice spoke up.
"Why are you still dwelling on such small things?" Sirin tilted her head from behind Noah, genuinely confused. "You already saw our Noah crush every Quantum Shadow across the world alone. So what's the problem with three people handling a mere detached force of the Legion?"
Silence followed. Everyone blinked at her words. Unreal, absurd, even frightening.... but undeniably does make sense. If a single man had eliminated all the threats on Earth, then three of his comrades fighting in orbit could certainly handle a fleet or two. Sirin, unaware of how shaken they were, only looked back at their stunned faces.
"If this helps, before I came down there were only two more ships left. That's about two thousand soldiers? And we already dealt with the Doomsday Beasts. My sister and the others can finish up quickly." She said it so plainly, as though it were a trivial matter. "For all we know, they're already done and having tea on the Express."
[...There are some terrifying words casually spoken there,] Sona admitted, paling slightly. The terms Doomsday Beast and two thousand soldiers sent shivers down her spine. And that was before Sirin had even descended. Just how many enemies did this legion send?!
[Is this really normal, Nagumo-kun?] Rias asked, turning to Hajime, the only one they knew who was part of Noah's crew.
Hajime blinked and tilted his head, thinking carefully before answering. "We don't face world-ending forces every single time, but… yeah. As Trailblazers we regularly encounter Stellaron-induced events, the Legion, and other threats that usually end up becoming fights for the world itself."
Anisphia looked up at the broken sky solemnly. "…Now that I think about it, we've never really had a peaceful expedition. There's always some kind of annoying force popping up out of nowhere."
"Becoming commanders for anthropomorphic fleet girls, helping the 'hero' make the immortal elf fall in love with him, farming with a former Japanese man with his vampire and angel wives along with his spider and wolf pets… it wasn't always world-ending battles, but somehow we always end up dragged into ridiculous events, don't we?" Alice said with a wry smile. "Before we noticed it, that chaos just became normal to us."
[You Trailblazers really… live an interesting life,] Tobio said at last, finding the only word that could summarize what everyone felt after hearing Hajime, Alice, and Anisphia.
"Ahaha! We sure do!" Noah laughed. "It's chaotic, full of surprises! But that's what makes our journey meaningful."
"Well, can't deny that." Hajime gave a wry smile in agreement.
Sirin, Alice, and Anisphia exchanged glances before shrugging. They felt the same. It might seem inconvenient to others, but to them each event brought color to their journey. Something worth remembering.
Tobio, along with the Slash/Dog team and even both the Sitri and Gremory peerages, couldn't help but feel envious. Their own lives were far from mundane, but the stories Hajime and the others carried were far more colorful. Yes, the journey had its dangers and hardships, but even so, it was still something worth living for.
[Ahem… before we drift too far from the topic,] Sona cleared her throat. [Noah-san, Hajime-san, what exactly do you need from us to finally solve that thing in the sky?]
Hajime, Alice, and Anisphia all looked at Noah, silently leaving the explanation to him. With a wry smile, Noah faced the screens. "What we'll do is simple and direct."
He raised one finger. "Step 1: I'll unleash my strongest attack to push that beast back into its prison."
Then he placed a hand on Hajime's shoulder. "Step 2: Hajime will do his thing and cut the connection that the Stellaron's explosion created between the plane of reality and the Imaginary Space."
Hajime nodded firmly. Noah then rested his hand on Sirin's head. "Step 3, the final step. My Sii will fully repair the punctured dimensional barriers that separate both planes."
Taking another breath, he continued. "But for Steps 1 and 2, Hajime and I will need all of our focus. Which means we'll have to stop what we're doing right now."
His smile is still there. Warm and gentle. But everyone can hear it. The seriousness and steel on his tone. "Currently I'm restraining the Quantum Shadows from spilling back into reality and keeping that eye in the sky from exerting its influence. Meanwhile, Hajime is doing his best to keep the tear from expanding."
The words sent a chill through everyone listening. The DxD team swallowed hard, grimacing, while ordinary civilians shook in fear. Then Noah spoke the part none of them wanted to hear.
"The moment we let go, the Quantum Shadows will return in full force. And that monstrous eye will immediately push to widen the tear, breaking reality's walls once more."
Some civilians began weeping; families clutched each other desperately. Others closed their eyes as if already accepting their fate. But the DxD team clenched their fists and set their jaws, bracing themselves for what Noah would say next.
"You see, we are called the Nameless, who use a power we called the Trailblaze," Noah continued. "The meaning of Trailblaze is quite broad. But one of its uses is about creating paths, creating connections. That is why even those far from us, those in distant parts of the world, can hear our voices and watch this conversation. That is why you were able to learn the truth."
Noah looked upward at the golden rails of Trailblaze, branching out across every horizon. His words not only shook the DxD team and the people around them, but with people of the entire world as well. They all turned their gaze at the sky, towards the glowing trails, awe filled their hearts.
"You all see the golden trails of light I spread to every corner of the earth. This is what I want from everyone. Yes, everyone, from each one of you in the entire world. Aside from the three of us. Me, Hajime, and my dear Sirin, I want you to grab hold of them. Lend your strength and will into them. Those trails interconnect the entire world, forming a single power source to create the greatest shield to protect you all." Noah's eyes softened, carrying the warmth of the hope they all desperately needed. Be they from the hidden magical world or ordinary mundane life, countless eyes widened in disbelief.
"We've given you the path and the means to save yourselves. Now it is your turn to take hold of it. Even if you think your strength is nothing more than a speck of dust in this vast universe, you will remember this day. Not for the destruction that came, but for the moment each of you chose to use even that speck of strength to protect your world." Noah grinned at the screens. "Well then, that path lies before you. Will you take it, or ignore it? The choice is in your hands."
—--
Just as everyone was taking their positions, someone gathered her courage. Hesitant and flustered, she finally called out.
"N-Noah-san, please wait!"
Noah turned to see Gabriel fidgeting nervously, one hand pressed to her chest as if to calm her racing heart. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward with all the determination she could muster. In her hands was the same ornament box she had shown to Hajime earlier in the conference. Her expression was a mix of uncertainty, fear, nervousness… and hope. Hope that she had finally found the one she had been waiting for all these years.
Noah's expression softened with understanding.
Gabriel continued forward, her eyes never leaving his. "Father entrusted this to me. He told me that one day, someone would awaken what is inside and…" She let out a breath to calm herself, "…that Heaven's—no, this world's fate would stay and follow you, in every trial, in every step you take."
She extended the box with both trembling hands. "Please take it… so that I can be with you."
Michael, watching not far away, gave her the gentlest smile. "…Go, Gabriel. Follow what your heart tells you."
Azazel, Shemhazai, Sirzechs, and Serafall all watched in silence, giving Gabriel their unspoken support.
At Noah's side, Sirin's eyes narrowed at Gabriel but she didn't speak or move. She simply allowed her to act as she wished. Hajime, Alice, Anisphia, along with Sagiri, Ingvild, Ophis, and Villhaze all watched silently. The end of the angel's long, long wait was finally unfolding.
"You sure are impatient, Gabby." Noah gave her a wry smile, teasing gently.
Gabriel looked down, a heavy blush spreading across her cheeks, her wings twitching. She didn't deny his words, nor did she withdraw her arms. "I… I just don't want to miss this chance…" she whispered, the last part barely audible, to stand beside you.
Though the words can't be heard, Noah felt them.
He reached out and laid a single finger on the box's surface. Instantly, the locks unfolded, releasing a burst of radiant light. Holy and divine energies surged forth, unveiling a full white suit with a masquerade-style mask attached to its cowl, carrying the eerie grace of a "whiteface clown." The final Sacred Gear had awakened: The Crowned Clown, God's Joker.
It circled around Noah and Gabriel, before stopping in front of him, as if studying the man it had long awaited. Noah's smile didn't falter, he simply waited. Then, with a graceful inevitability, it rose like a dancer in glee before drifting toward Noah and embracing him.
Light enveloped him, covering his form for a moment. The Jedi robes he had worn vanished, replaced by something new, something both holy and divine.
White, silver, and deep indigo threads wove into a hooded cowl that draped over Noah's shoulders. Sleeves of flowing divine energy wrapped around his arms, forming a sleek armored mantle. Affixed to the cowl was a masquerade-style mask, its expression changing subtly, almost alive.
The God's Joker had finally come.
Noah exhaled slowly. As the Crowned Clown settled into his body, he could feel its presence, alive, aware. Ready to move and shield him, to fight along his side. He can feel it telling him, It wasn't just armor, nor simply a key to Heaven's system. It was his partner.
Gabriel stood frozen, her mind still processing what had just happened. Until tears slowly fell in her eyes. Biting her lip, she stepped forward, and before Noah could react she leapt into his arms, embracing him tightly. Her voice trembled as she spoke, every word carrying the feelings she kept in her heart.
"I shall stand beside you in every trial and triumph," she whispered through her sobs. "From now on… and forever."
Noah's hand settled gently on her waist, whispering his reply. "And I will be with you, for better or for worse."
—--
Up in the sky, at the same level as the tear in reality, Noah and Hajime stood on top of the Void Platform Sirin had created for them.
"Congratulations on getting yourself an angel wife, bro," Hajime said dryly at his side. "On behalf of Alice, Anis, and the rest, we send our regards and best wishes for your happy life."
Noah smirked. "Then, on behalf of Kii, Sii, Ellie, Lumi, A-chan, Itztli, and Gabby, I send our own congratulations for your engagement to your new princesses."
Hajime's cheek twitched. "Tsk…"
"Hmph." Noah shot back, the corner of his lips twitching.
"…Aren't the both of you being way too lax?" Sirin deadpanned. She glanced at the Crowned Clown and, for a moment, could have sworn it tilted its head like it was confused by their banter. "…This thing is actually pretty expressive."
Sirin shook her head, brushing aside the thought. "The angel wife issue aside—which we'll definitely talk about later with the rest—you really know how to fire people up, Noah."
Noah gave a nervous laugh as he adjusted his grip on Shamash. The Crowned Clown even seemed to wiggle as if matching his feelings. "Ahahaha… that wasn't even my intention. I just wanted to give them a chance to protect themselves."
"Yeah, by saying stuff like 'Even if your strength is small and weak it can still make a difference.' Who even gives that kind of speech? Oh right… our Captain," Hajime muttered, shaking his head. Even he had to admit he felt a bit pumped.
"Yeah, yeah, sure, sure." Noah rolled his eyes before turning toward the front, where the struggling Quantum Shadows and the Eye of the End waited. "You ready?"
"Ready," Hajime answered firmly.
The next second, they let go. The force restraining the Quantum Shadows, the Eye, and the structure mending the broken sky vanished all at once.
