I was listening to my Maths teacher go on and on about kids these days not being serious about studies and being disrespectful to their parents and teachers, and stuff and stuff.
"I hope you all understand and think deeply about what I am saying."
Finally it was going to be over.
"You there!" He yelled "Last seat."
Everyone turned to look. At Adarsh who was happily dozing out in middle of this boring lecture. Can't blame him. Aayushman who was sitting beside him furiously shook him in order to wake him up. Adarsh got up and instantly knew he was in hot soup.
"You teenagers take literally everything for granted. The real world will not be easy on you. Right now we teachers and your parents go easy on you. I don't like to lecture you or to show my supeority nor do I like it. You are like my little brothers and sisters that's why I am concerned about you and your future-"
"May I come in sir?" Went Aarush. Super bad timing.
"Where might you be coming from Mr?"
"Music room."
"What for?"
"Sir the interschool competition on 29th."
"You never sit in the class. You are always out either for some tournament or some music competition. Do you have to study or not?"
"Sir-"
"How much did you score on your last test?"
"39"
Well pretty good considering the fact they were out of 40. I turned to just look at our confident teacher who did not look so confident now.
"Well, if you scored fine on your test that doesn't mean you should stop studying and besides we are here to learn something extra."
"May I come in sir?"
"Come in."
Finally the bell rang. But this was still not a reason for this teacher to leave. And he went on and on about how the children back in his days used to study like crazy. You know the whole package.
Soon our English teacher Ms Suhani came in and got really confused when she saw Mr. Arjun just standing there still going on and on. She must have thought that it was not her period. She started checking her timetable in her phone. Arjun sir oblivious to what was happening still didn't stop. When she was sure it was her period came in and inturepted him. He on realizing what had happened finally left.
After enjoying the chaos I went back to reading my novel. After this the day went out pretty quick. The dispersal bell rang and I walked the usual way home. I took the familiar turn to my street. I always enjoy walking alone, it has been a thing since my past life. If I were given a choice to bike to somewhere or to walk I would pretty much prefer walking. As I walked I saw some boxes being carried into the house in front of mine.
A family earlier lived in that house they have a son who became an engineer and settled abroad, I think to Canada. Just a year earlier he bought a house and his parents went to live along with him. The house had been on sale ever since, till a family bought it just a few months ago. They are probably shifting to their new home.
I went in my house.
"Mummy I am home." I called.
"Oh dear there is someone you must meet."
Probably my new neighbours I thought to myself. As I walked in my living room with bag still on my shoulder. I saw a cute little boy and a teen girl.
"These are our new neighbours."
"Hello!" Greeted the girl
"Hi!"
"I am Vaishnavi and this here is my younger brother Chandresh." Then she turned to the little one beside her "Say hello to her."
"Hello!"
"Hello Chanrdesh I am Chandni. Your name and my name sound similar. Even their meanings are similar.(Chandresh means lord of the moon and Chandni means Moonlight)"
"He speaks a lot at home but not much outside."
"Auww.." went my mother "Chandni was the same as a kid."
As a kid I didn't speak too much but definitely more than outside.
"In which grade do you study?"
"I am in tenth." Answered Vaishnavi "Go on bro tell them your class."
"Prep."
"Oh our Chandni is in 12th you can ask her if you need any help in academics."
"Sure."
"How old are you?"
"I am 15. Tell them your age."
"Five."
"What school do you study in?"
"Glory International School."
"Oh I study in the same one." I jumped in.
"Where did you live earlier?"
"Gunjan colony."
"Oh."
"What do your parents do?"
"Our Father is a child specialist and our mother is an artitect."
"That's nice."
I honestly feel like my mother is either interviewing them or interrogating them. Huh!
"What stream do you want to take in class 11th?"
"Medical."
"Nice choice."
"What have you taken?" She asked me
"PCMB."
"The four of them that must be hard to manage."
"No, not that hard."
The boring causal small talk went on and on. Till it was no longer small talk. Candresh kept quite the whole time meanwhile her sister answered all the question. Aww... he is so cute. He seems so small. With his head shaved and those big brown eyes and that round face he looks like a cute little doll. Honestly I thought he was a girl at first. After sometime he started happily muching on the chips amd drinking the juice my mother had served them. His sister kept in giving those looks to him that said don't eat that much of chips it's rude. But the poor kid just didn't catch it and started munching on the biscuits as well. Then he went for the chocolate.
"Chandresh don't eat that much of chocolate or else you will have cavities in your teeth."
"Dear let him have it, a day won't hurt."
Mummy got up for a minute. Thus was my opportunity to talk to the kid.
"Do you like going to school?"
"Yeah I have a lot of friends."
"Who are they?"
"There is Reyansh, Kabir, Rohit and Priyanshi rest all are just not up to the mark to be my friends. The class is full of idiots."
