Chapter 41 - Control your gaze

It was the unconscious Qian Ying'er on the ground, who was being bitten on the thigh by the small dog, Fu Gui, following its owner.

Fu Gui bared its teeth and fiercely bit off a chunk of her thigh.

"Is it you who hurt my sister Nan?" it seemed to ask.

The intense pain jolted the unconscious Qian Ying'er awake, and she screamed.

An Nan, looking down at the scene, couldn't help but laugh. "Fu Gui, stop eating things randomly, it's dirty!"

Fu Gui shook its little head and spat out the chunk of flesh it had bitten off.

Pah! That tasted horrible, nowhere near as good as the chicken drumsticks Sister Nan gives me.

Qian Ying'er howled while clutching her thigh, her other leg flailing wildly.

Afraid she might hurt Fu Gui, An Nan slapped her across the face. "Calm down!"

Then, she turned to Chu Peipei and said, "I have something to handle. You head home first."

Chu Peipei nodded and left.

An Nan locked the doors one by one and said to the dog, "Fu Gui, stay close behind me, don't run off."

She grabbed Qian Ying'er by the hair and dragged her across the floor, heading downstairs.

Wei Wenbin, that coward, had run off by himself, leaving his sister behind with her.

As a "good neighbor," An Nan naturally had to help him take the girl back.

Straightening her back, An Nan tugged at Qian Ying'er's hair as she descended the stairs.

Qian Ying'er, in pain, whimpered and tried to shield her head with her hands, her body stiff as she was dragged down.

As they reached the 12th floor, they happened to run into Sun Peng, who was holding his lover, Wang Xiaoyu, on their way up.

The two were no longer trying to hide their affection, openly embracing as they ascended.

This was Wang Xiaoyu's first time seeing An Nan in person.

She saw An Nan, her face filled with hostility, holding a large knife in one hand while dragging Qian Ying'er by the hair with the other.

Despite holding a fully grown adult, she moved effortlessly, as though it were no trouble at all.

A true Amazonian!

Without needing Sun Peng's introduction, Wang Xiaoyu immediately guessed that the woman before her was the notorious "she-devil" from the 14th floor.

The girl on the ground was covered in blood, drooling, looking as if she had been beaten into a fool.

Brutal! So brutal!

Wang Xiaoyu shuddered, clutching Sun Peng's arm tightly.

Sun Peng, too, tensed up, fearing An Nan might hold a grudge over their earlier visit asking for food.

But he didn't show it on his face, and smiled politely, trying to appease her.

"Miss An, out for a walk?"

An Nan glanced at him.

Truly shameless, to act as though nothing had happened, greeting her like they were the best of neighbors.

If someone didn't know better, they'd think they were a close-knit, loving pair.

But An Nan was too busy dealing with Wei Wenbin to waste time on them, so she ignored them and kept walking down the stairs.

It was only when she passed them that Wang Xiaoyu noticed the dog trailing behind her.

The plump little Fu Gui, wagging its tail, followed its owner.

At the sight, Wang Xiaoyu's eyes glinted with greed.

Was that... dog meat?

A little wagging dog meat!

Her nose seemed to catch the scent of those delicious dishes she'd eaten before the disaster.

In the years spent with Sun Peng, she had enjoyed plenty of exotic delicacies—dog meat was nothing. She'd eaten turtle, snake, wild goose, and all sorts of wild fare.

She had long since gotten used to seeing all living creatures as potential meals.

Fu Gui sensed her gaze and growled fiercely.

An Nan, hearing the sound, turned and coldly looked at Wang Xiaoyu.

"Stop eyeing things you shouldn't. Keep staring, and you might lose those eyes."

Wang Xiaoyu felt her scalp tingle at the coldness in An Nan's gaze. She hurriedly shrank behind Sun Peng.

Sun Peng, too, noticed the little white dog. It wasn't a lie that he felt a pang of greed, but he knew well enough that he wasn't a match for An Nan. His motto was to keep a low profile and stay out of trouble.

So, he quickly apologized, pulling Wang Xiaoyu's hand and hurrying upstairs.

"Sorry, my wife hasn't seen the world. We'll leave now."

An Nan felt goosebumps rise all over her body.

"Wife"? Stop pretending to be cultured.

That bizarre woman is your wife?!

An Nan couldn't be bothered with them and proceeded directly to the 8th floor.

Just in case Wei Wenbin still had any knockout drugs, she put on her gas mask again.

As expected, the hallway door was locked, but the quality was poor. She lifted her foot and kicked it open with force, stepping inside.

She remembered from her past life that the siblings had lived in apartment 802.

So, she went straight to the door of 802.

"Wei Wenbin, open the door."

The room was eerily silent.

"You left your sister at my place."

Still no response.

It seemed that Wei Wenbin was truly selfish, or perhaps he had no real feelings for Qian Ying'er.

An Nan didn't waste any more time. She took out her door-breaking tool and within a few moments, forced the door open.

Wei Wenbin was huddled in the corner of the bedroom, gripping a hammer, trembling as he heard the sounds of the door being broken open.

It was over!

Everything was over!

His grip tightened around the hammer, his palms sweating.

Soon, the door was wide open. He heard An Nan's footsteps getting closer, accompanied by a strange dragging sound.

"Wei Wenbin, where are you?"

"Stop hiding. Come out~"

"Don't you want to see what's happened to your sister?"

"Wei Wenbin~"

The words rang in his ears like a demonic chant.

Wei Wenbin pressed his hands against his ears, desperately praying that this she-devil would leave.

But, contrary to his hopes, the footsteps grew louder as they approached his bedroom.

The bedroom door was locked, but An Nan already knew what to do. She kicked it open with a single powerful strike.

With a loud crash, the door fell to the ground.

She stepped inside, scanning the room. It was empty, but the wardrobe door was tightly shut.

She slowly approached and opened the door.

Wei Wenbin was huddled in the far corner of the wardrobe. When the door was slowly pulled open, a face covered by a gas mask appeared.

"Hehe, found you."

!!!

In that instant, Wei Wenbin felt as if his soul had left his body.

"Ahhh! Don't come any closer!"

He shrank further back, his heart pounding, desperately swinging the hammer in his hands.

An Nan had intended to scare him, but seeing him like this, she couldn't help but feel a little speechless.

How could a grown man be so cowardly? He was curled up in the corner like a frightened girl.

She wasn't some thug here to rob the place!

She wasn't about to go easy on him. In a flash, she snatched the hammer from his hands and, with a single motion, dragged him out of the wardrobe and threw him to the floor.

Wei Wenbin staggered as he fell, looking up to meet a pair of glazed eyes.

"Hehehe..." A face swollen into a pig's head filled his vision. "Handsome! A beautiful lady brought me to find a handsome man!"

Wei Wenbin jumped back in shock. Hearing the familiar voice, he barely recognized the pig-headed face as his cousin, Qian Ying'er.

Her cheeks were bright red, swollen on both sides, and her mouth was deformed from the beating.

She looked pitiful.

His heart softened, and he quickly shook her shoulder. "Ying'er, what happened to you?"

Qian Ying'er didn't respond, just continued to giggle foolishly.

"Handsome! Hehe, handsome!"

Wei Wenbin furrowed his brows and looked up at An Nan. "What have you done to her?"
