Alex Hawk raised his hand to cover his buzzing left ear and looked at the abruptly ended call, feeling both amused and helpless.
After thinking for a moment, he sent Brandan Hyde a text message: "Remember to bring me some dumplings."

Brandan Hyde walked out of the study and unexpectedly saw Emily Dormer standing at the door.
His eyes narrowed slightly, and the slightly dazed woman immediately reacted, handing over the coffee she was holding: "Brandan, Uncle Hyde asked me to bring you something to drink."
Brandan Hyde scrutinized her for a moment before finally reaching out to take the coffee and drinking a sip.
Emily Dormer seemed to have something to say to him, appearing hesitant, so Brandan Hyde asked, "What do you want to say?"
"...Nothing, Brandan, I'm heading back."
The smile on Emily Dormer's face looked a bit forced.
Brandan Hyde responded with a simple "Hmm," and added calmly, "The coffee is very good, thank you."
