Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: One Door Apart

Back home, when the villagers heard that the Mu Family had a son, many came to offer their congratulations. However, given Jiang Xue's past, those people only congratulated them from the courtyard, not daring to enter the room to see the child.

Since others didn't enter the room, Jiang Xue felt at ease. After watching the baby fall asleep, she began to take in her surroundings and examine the room she lived in.

This was her and Mu Qiancheng's bridal room, which in her previous life she never seriously looked at. Because she didn't love Mu Qiancheng, she didn't care about him or anything related to him.

But today, when she took the time to really look, she realized how deeply Mu Qiancheng cared for her.

This room was almost entirely decorated according to her preferences, arranged like her maiden room back home. Everywhere was a series of pink hues, and even the wallpaper was exactly the same few posters of "Princess Pearl" that were hung in her old room.

Seeing Mu Qiancheng's attentiveness, Jiang Xue felt guilty again. She deeply questioned whether she was blind in her previous life, for how could she not see Mu Qiancheng's goodness, or recognize his love for her?

Thinking back to her past self, who was nothing but troublesome, disrupting not only the peace of the Mu Family but also wrecking both herself and Mu Qiancheng, Jiang Xue desperately wished to slap herself.

In her past life, she was truly a fool.

Fortunately, heaven gave her a chance to live again, giving her the opportunity to make amends. In this life, she was determined to open her eyes, treat those who were good to her well, and ruthlessly deal with those who wished her harm.

Just as she was thinking this, the courtyard gate sounded, and then she heard her father-in-law's excited voice, "Qiancheng, you're back!"

"Dad, I'm back!" The familiar voice reached Jiang Xue's ears, making her involuntarily tense up.

They say returning home brings anxiety. At this moment, when about to see Mu Qiancheng, she felt apprehensive. She didn't know what attitude to present to him.

Even though she had already decided to love him well and live a good life with him, she worried that if she changed too quickly, Mu Qiancheng would be suspicious.

While hesitating and uncertain about what to do, she heard her father-in-law say, "Come in quickly, go see your wife and son."

"Okay!" Mu Qiancheng nodded, put down his luggage, and walked toward the room he and Jiang Xue lived in.

The room door was closed, and Mu Qiancheng stood at the door for a long time without pushing it open. In his mind, he recalled Jiang Xue's aversion to him since their marriage, how she didn't even want to look at him.

Even when they consummated their marriage, it was because he had forced her.

At this moment, he knew that as long as he pushed this door open, he would see Jiang Xue and the child, yet he hesitated.

He wondered what if Jiang Xue was unhappy to see him?

He loved Jiang Xue, loved her deeply, and didn't want her to be unhappy. The time he had forced her to consummate their marriage was driven by alcohol and jealousy. But who would have thought that just once, and Jiang Xue became pregnant with his child.

When he found out Jiang Xue was pregnant with his child, he was so happy he forgot his bearings and ran fifty laps on the field at his workplace.

But when he heard his parents say that Jiang Xue didn't want the child, he panicked. He took a leave of absence and rushed home overnight, reaching an agreement with Jiang Xue for her to have the child, and he would let her go and divorce her.

Now, the child was born, does this mean their marriage was also coming to an end?

Leaning against the door frame, Mu Qiancheng's heart felt tangled at the thought of Jiang Xue leaving him, and his eyes turned slightly red.
