The night was already deep.
Daisy Ginger muddled out of the man's embrace, only to be dragged back under the covers.
Edward Stephens's voice was somewhat hoarse: "What's wrong?"
"I forgot to take my medicine..."
Daisy's voice was very drowsy, but she still struggled out from under the covers to reach the medicine bottle on the bedside table not far away.
Edward lazily rubbed her smooth back a few times, "What's there to take... Didn't I wear it today?"
Daisy was so sleepy she was groggy, but she was firm: "No way."
This was her short-term contraceptive pill, which needed to be taken on time every day to achieve contraceptive effects.
Missing even one day was not acceptable.
The man let go, watching Daisy roll out of his arms, back to him, as she poured the pills and swallowed them with water.
He propped his face, watching her, with a hint of a smile on his face, but that warmth didn't reach his eyes.
