"Asher Land, you..." Sophie Smith's eyes fell on Asher Land in disbelief. "Did you really do that kind of thing?"
A hint of discomfort flashed across his face. He didn't meet Sophie's gaze directly. So, what Irene Morton said is true?
"So, Brother Asher, you would even forsake your life for someone you love, then what about me? Why can't I?" Irene said, her words calm.
"Are you both crazy?" Sophie curled her lips into a helpless smile, pale and powerless.
The room, for a moment, fell into silence.
"You should go rest now, don't worry about me, I... won't do anything foolish again."
After speaking, she lay back on the bed, turning her back to them, as tears flowed silently.
After a long time, the two standing beside her bed finally moved away, and the room's lights were turned off, leaving only darkness.
Having faced death once without dying, she wouldn't attempt it again, though she couldn't understand the meaning of her life.
