Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: I Saved You, Remember to Repay Me

"Do you want me to help you?" He asked gently, his rare show of mercy whispered softly in her ear in a voice only the two of them could hear.

Sophie Smith didn't react at first, purely because of his voice. His voice was too pleasant, full of magnetism, yet carried a sense of unfamiliarity that kept people at a distance.

"Mm!" A few seconds later, Sophie was jolted awake from her trance and nodded frantically. If someone were willing to help her at this moment, she would be profoundly grateful.

"Get over here, now!" Sam Chapman impatiently yelled, pulling her hand vigorously. Sitting in that corner was not an ordinary person. The big boss was here today to discuss script investment matters with him, and if this girl offended this major patron, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"Are you yelling at me?" The man tasted a sip of red wine from his glass, speaking unhurriedly.

"No, no, of course not..." Sam panicked, his words stammering. Even with a billion times the courage, he wouldn't dare. "You, you misunderstood, I was talking to this girl."

"If not, then don't shout in my direction." His voice didn't show much fluctuation, just maintaining its usual coldness, which startled Sam and made him quickly release Sophie's wrist.

"Sorry, sorry..." After saying that, Sam rushed back to his seat, retreating in disgrace.

Sophie exhaled deeply in her heart. The man beside her must be someone extraordinary. A simple few words could make the arrogant Sam immediately lose his bravado. She steadied her emotions, trying to calm her mood.

"Tha..." Her 'thank you' words hadn't fully left her lips when she once again heard the man's cold voice.

"What's your name?"

"My name is Sophie Smith, 'Sophie' as in the color, 'Smith' as in promise." She said earnestly.

"That's quite a good name."

Sophie always felt something was quite odd now. Suddenly she realized she was still in his embrace, which felt somewhat inappropriate, so she tried to get up, but the man's large hand firmly held her slender waist.

"I just saved you, so what? Now you want to pretend you don't know me?" His words carried a hint of teasing, his slender fingers with a faint tobacco scent lightly brushing her face.

"Sir, I, I didn't mean that." Sophie instinctively avoided his gaze, caught in a dilemma, her head spinning, unsure of what to do.

The man's large hand wandered over her smooth, beautiful back. Sophie felt embarrassed and angry, just about to resist, but surprisingly, the man didn't continue with any further actions, instead, he zipped up the back of her dress.

"I saved you," A strange smile curled at the man's lips, unseen by anyone, "Remember to repay me."

Repay, repay him? How could she repay him?

Sophie paused, the man's tone made her feel uneasy. All in all, this was a place of trouble, and she couldn't stay any longer.

"If we meet again in the future, I, I will repay you, sir."

She tried hard to break free from his hold. This was definitely not a place to linger.

Of course, he saw through her urgency to escape, which made him a bit displeased.

"Planning to escape, is that possible?" His husky, seductive voice made her whole body involuntarily fall into a panic.
