Chapter 49 - The final alignment

Episode 49 – The Final Alignment

The air in the demon realm had shifted.

The eerie red glow that bathed Pythros dimmed into a deep violet, as if the realm itself was holding its breath. The ground trembled beneath the team's feet. Trees twisted and groaned. Rivers of flame hissed as strange black flowers bloomed from their banks.

Kael stood at the edge of the ruined bridge, Velmorth'Rael glowing faintly on his back, its pulse syncing with his heartbeat. "Something's wrong," he muttered.

"It's too quiet," Rhea added, stepping forward, her newly formed light blade humming softly in her hand.

Suddenly, a deep crack split the sky above them. Thunder without rain. Light without lightning. And then—they emerged.

The final two Primorati.

One, the towering witch draped in writhing shadows that looked like serpents around her waist, and the other, a wizard in molten armor with skin cracked like volcanic stone. Their presence warped the very space around them, like reality itself was bowing.

"We are the Balance," the witch said, her voice echoing across the ruined realm. "The Gate of Pythros is not to be closed. It must merge. We will bring harmony… through domination."

"You talk too much," Tunde said with a shaky laugh, standing next to Felix, who gripped an old flaming staff they'd taken from the ancient weapon vault.

The battle began.

Massive demon creatures burst from the cracked earth, clawing toward the team. Rhea and Tunde stood side by side, throwing spells and light bursts as fast as their magic would allow. Rhea gritted her teeth as the witches' shadow magic grazed her leg, making her stumble. Tunde caught her arm.

"You good?"

"I'm not dying in a place that smells like burnt socks," she gasped, smirking.

Meanwhile, Lana dashed between attacks, flinging twin daggers of pure crystal light, slicing through demon after demon. But just as she landed a hard blow on one of the corrupted giants, a massive chunk of blackened rock flew toward Kael.

"KAEL!" she screamed.

She ran—shoved him aside—and took the hit herself.

Blood.

She collapsed.

Kael stood there frozen.

"Lana…?"

His hand trembled as he held her.

Rage boiled in his chest. Power surged, flickering out of him in golden waves. Velmorth'Rael vibrated in its sheath as if sensing the rising fury.

But Kael did not unleash it yet.

He gently laid Lana's body behind a shield conjured by Felix and turned toward the final Primorati.

"You made a mistake," Kael said, his voice deeper, almost otherworldly. "You hurt the only thing that held me back."

He stepped forward, eyes glowing faintly gold, lightning trailing his fingers like ribbons of wrath.

Meanwhile, Felix fought to shut the Gate of Pythros, flipping through the scrolls and map pieces as magic symbols spun in the air.

"We need to close this now or our world will fuse with this one permanently!" he shouted.

"Just five minutes," Kael whispered, walking toward the enemies. "That's all I need."
