Jace's POV
The Next Morning
Today was my appointed time with Syria. I had taken my bath and already gotten dressed. I was not planning to stay home today—there was a fair going on, and I felt like going for once.
It could be like a date between me and Syria.
I grabbed my coat to disguise myself as a visitor. If I went there with my normal identity, I would not be able to enjoy the fair that much.
I went to Syria's room. As a courtesy, I knocked—but there was no answer. No time to waste, I pushed the door open.
I was expecting her to be asleep or something, but the bed was empty.
Did she run away?
I was about to run out of the room to call an alarm when I heard the sound of the clicking door behind me.
I turned toward it.
"Ahhhh!"
I covered my ears in annoyance. "Why are you screaming?"
"What are you doing in my room?" Syria asked, wrapping her chest with her arms and glaring at me like I was some predator.
