The next morning, Isadora began her first training session with Mrs. Adele. They had cleared the sitting room of unnecessary furniture so that it felt open, with only a few items placed around—a book, a cup, a candle.
"Before we begin," Mrs. Adele said, folding her hands, "I want to know what you already understand. The bracelet may have chosen you, but raw power without focus can become more dangerous than helpful."
Isadora hesitated for a moment before answering. "When I was in Veridion, a witch from an antique shop gave me a book. I studied from it. I learned some basics. I can… levitate objects, though I'm not very good at it."
Marissa, who had insisted on sitting in to observe, blinked at her. "Hold on—you're telling me you know how to float things with your mind? And you never mentioned this?"
"I didn't think it mattered," Isadora replied with a faint smile. "Besides, I only managed it a few times."
