Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 : The Final Exam 2

In such manner their thirty minutes break ended and the instructor Keel Kun appeared.

He was with a scroll, after quitting and organizing the candidates he read out the first name on the list. The names candidate stepped forward and immediately vanished, less than 10 minutes later, Keel Kun called out the next name, the first candidate however did not come back there, so no one knew if he had failed or passed and even more importantly, what sort of questions were being asked.

The rest of the day crawled by in like manner and soon Keel Kun called out for Itoyea, who was still with Itekan.

The two nodded, a silent acknowledgement, passing through them both, they were in their own way congratulating each other, no matter the consequences of the interview, Itoyea stepped forward and disappeared.

Itekan sat down, just then he saw a shadow over him, he looked up it was Binturu.

Itoyea stood in a large dark auditorium, all around him were several seats with, instructors all looking at him. Their gazes peiced through Itoyea, he felt his knees go weak in the ensuing suspense. Nobody had said a word.

Itoyea wasnt sure if he was supposed to talk or not, and the looks from most the instructors were everything but friendly.

" Itoyea Pilton, you have shown excellent skills on the field, and you truly would be a fierce hero in your own rights-" a voice said from one of the chairs around him, or rather from all of them, dispite only one voice being spoken, he heard it from all around, like the voice wasn't coming from just one person.

Itoyea looked up, as he anticipated there was nothing normal about this place.

" -but, just about any of the other 200 candidates are also direct contenders in their own rights as well, tell us, why should YOU be allowed in, and not them " the voice finished, Itoyea however did not respond immediately he was silent for a few seconds contemplating the question, as if it were the billion dollar question, then he spoke, he told a story, one of pain, loss, sacrifice, and death.

" I was born, in a small town, one of the small towns that spread just after the borders of the the country Formult, it wasn't very expensive or grand, but the people there, they were my family.

" We were simple farmers, and we weren't chained to any royal family or nation, we were free, and happy.

" However, happiness is an expensive comodity, because we weren't aligned with a nation or county, we were easily targeted by a wave of demon monsters.

"I watched that day, as the people I grew up with, my friends,-" Itoyea felt a choak in his throat as he tried to keep back tears from flowing out.

" - my family, I was so helpless then, all I could do was hide, as my family sacrificed themselves so I could live, as countless others perished, all I could do was hide, I alone survived in my village" Itoyea said, he did not even hold back now, the tears were running down his eyes as he spoke.

" I will, become a hero that doesn't hide as others suffer and sacrifice their lives, I need to be admitted into four stars academy, because I know what it means to be lost, to be hurt, and I have grievances to settle with the demons that rampage about, because I have the blood of everyone that died to ensure I live on me, for their sakes I must become a hero!!" Itoyea said, the tears had stopped now, he stood there awaiting response, he had done his part.

Kime wiped his eyes slowly as he looked at Itoyea, his eyes speaking volumes, he understood the pain, the child had gone through, and he understood the harsh reality of life.

" Itoyea Pilton, your answer has been submitted, you will receive our answer sooner than, till then you are to stay at our hostel, one of your seniors will guide you to your residence" A voice said, cold and sharp, a contrast to the soft eyes that had resonated with him a second ago.

Itoyea nodded in acknowledgement, he turned to leave, then he heard it.

" I apologize, for what you have suffered " Kime had said, it was an ever so gentle consolation, but it's effect carried weight, Itoyea who had just reigned in his tears, felt them treathen to burst out again.

Itekan watched as more candidates left, and never returned, out of the 200 that had begun there were only about 15 of them left, Binturu had been summoned not too long after Itoyea had left, it was then he had noticed kutote, that too was a while ago, before he could wade through the crowd to meet up with him though he had been summoned as well, now he was alone. The others stayed a distance from each other, like they were each the flu, and soon the number dwindled down to 8 of them.

" Hello!" A voice said from behind Itekan, he spun around so fast his eye took a second to focus.

Itekan looked at the person in front of him, the was about 15 years, older than him with 2 years, the boy had tattoo just below his left eye, he wore a robe, with intricate designs covering it, and in his left hand was a ring on his index finger.

" Are you not going to respond to me!" The person asked.

Itekan stood frozen, he could feel an aura of death all around the person, the air felt cold and Itekan could feel his hands shake.

" Huh! You're not going to answer huh!" He said as he shrugged and walked away, Itekan could still feel death, hung on on the sit like a tangible piece of matter.

" Shit!" Itekan whispered as he regained his composure, he was supposed to feel afraid but somehow he wasn't, rather he felt excited, he knew firsthand that actual combat helped one grow stronger faster.

And as Aitken walked away, Itekan knew he had made the right decision to come to this school, Aitken who walked ahead could not help but chuckle, although there were definitely strong people in this place, that kid was the only one that had sensed it, the aura of death that surrounded him.

' worthy of being the son of the fallen!' he thought to himself as he walked.
