On the surface, most of the Mohgwyn Dynasty lay in ruins, yet an astonishing number of Albinaurics still lurked in its corners. Frieren knew almost everything with a single scan of her mental perception.
"I noticed it before; these Albinaurics, and even the Cursed Blood Undead, have a lot of Runes. The entire Mohgwyn Dynasty area is filled with them." She turned and instructed, "Mimic Tear, go clear them out."
"Understood."
The Pale Elf, staff in hand, began her sweeping clearance with imposing aura, each strike clearing a large area. As expected, a massive amount of Runes flowed into Frieren's body. Naturally, as a copy, the Mimic Tear also grew stronger, their powers possessing a certain synchronization.
At this moment, the King of Night was approaching completion.
Originally, Frieren, at the Heroic Tier, couldn't summon Demigod-tier Spirit Ashes. This was mainly due to the combined blessings of the Eternal City's King-Making Project's tier and Roderika's exquisite Spirit Tuning technique, which had forcibly forged a Demigod. In other words, the Mimic Tear hadn't copied much of Frieren's main body's combat power; its life tier was stronger than the Astrologer account.
Now, it was different: the summoner had reached the Divine Being tier. The Mimic Tear could now copy attributes matching its tier. Combined with Frieren's recent round of attribute boosts, its state was perfected. It was stronger than before the battle.
Hence, these low-level Albinaurics and Cursed Blood Undead were mercilessly mowed down. The commotion was so great that even the resting Southern Army couldn't help but glance over. As expected of Her Majesty, she never rested. After turning around, she and the King of Night started devising new ways to play, probably planning to completely clear out the ruins.
With nothing else to do, Frieren checked the numerous player messages scattered across the ground. She had suspected something was amiss when she saw so many player comments before, but due to the battle, she hadn't had time to check them. Now, she could finally gather information and fill in the gaps:
[Welcome to the wealthiest place in the Lands Between, Mohgwyn Bank!]
[Finally found it! No wonder it was hidden so deep. Turns out it's a dedicated Rune-farming spot!]
[Such a massive gain!]
[Thank you, Manager Varré! Your White Mask and Flower are also very useful. You're such a great person!]
[I thought this guy was too annoying, so I accidentally turned him hostile and completely missed out. Only later did I learn he could take Tarnished to the Mohgwyn Dynasty. Otherwise, you have to wait for the Consecrated Snowfield portal. But if I'm already in the Consecrated Snowfield, do I still need to farm Runes?]
[Yes, you can never have too many Runes!]
[Going to the Bloody Dynasty via Varré is the proper way. Although it's a bit troublesome, the earlier you complete it, the better. It lets you start farming and level up quickly!]
[What a pity! Why did this side quest get cut off? I didn't know he could guide me.]
[It's never too late. In fact, it's best to have a dedicated ATM weapon. One swing clears a large area of Albinaurics, and it's so satisfying and profitable. You are truly the benefactors of the Elden Lord!]
[The Bloody Dynasty is a huge bank, and everyone here is warmly welcoming, making you feel right at home!]
[I shall transform into a mowing maniac and level up 100 times first!]
[Even including Mohg, there are multiple cheese methods, and you can even take him out with one Sorcery: Comet Azur!]
[Come farm now...]
The messages were largely consistent with Frieren's guess; it was indeed a Rune-farming map. But who was this "Varré" that was repeatedly mentioned? Was it... the white-robed man she first met?
She immediately gave orders for the Southern Army to quickly search for this person. The knights, having received their orders, quickly found results. After all, his appearance and tone were hard to forget. The one reporting the situation was precisely the one who had killed him.
A corpse was laid before the silver-haired girl, along with the spoils of war.
Frieren looked at the remains at her feet with a touch of emotion. They had exchanged information once before the Chapel of Anticipation. Now, he had been crushed like an ant by the Southern Army. How truly times had changed.
The knight even thought she harbored a grudge against Varré, so he specially added to his report:
"Your Majesty, I killed him. This fellow died like a dog. Should we hang him up for display?"
"No need."
Only then did the others withdraw. In their eyes, a mere minion of the Bloody Dynasty was an absolute nobody, vastly inferior to the Soul of Cinder King, nothing more than that. Moreover, the entire faction had turned into a graveyard.
In the Lands Between, it was always the victor who wrote history. Whether Frieren and Varré had a grudge or not truly didn't matter. If anyone heard that he had been disrespectful to Her Majesty, even if the person concerned didn't care, ambitious individuals trying to curry favor would bring his head.
When she spoke of finding Varré, it no longer mattered whether he was alive or dead at that moment.
[White Mask]
[Slightly raises attack power when a nearby enemy suffers from the abnormal status effect of Bleed.]
It happened to be an item for a Bleed build, but Frieren truly disliked the appearance of the White Mask; she found it unappealing from the first glance. She'd keep it as a collectible.
The other item, however, had some aesthetic value:
[Varré's Bouquet]
[A hammer-spear crafted in the likeness of a rose bouquet. The flowers within the bouquet are entirely sharp blades.]
[Thus, the roses are often stained with blood.]
[Its appearance is like the words of "White Mask" Varré—]
[Elegant and extravagant, yet extremely dangerous.]
She twirled it a few times in her hand; it was light and flexible. Its appearance was particularly striking; it could almost serve as a token of marriage proposal. Many players must have found amusement with it.
Frieren continued to examine its related attributes and, most importantly, the Weapon Skill section, which directly determined a weapon's performance.
[Weapon Skill: Bloodboon Ritual]
[A power shared by the Lord of Blood, one of the Blood Pact Weapon Skills. When used, the wielder spins around before unleashing multiple thrusting attacks. It can seize the blood and HP of the attacked target.]
She swung the bouquet a few times, bringing forth blood-red magic, making a rattling sound. The feel was moderate. As a dedicated Bleed weapon, it was indeed good and could be used in conjunction with the new module. For instance, she could instantly switch to a Bleed build, strike the target viciously a few times with the bouquet, and then revert to her sorcerer build, catching the enemy off guard.
Truly deserving of being called the "bank manager" by players, he was indeed generous. With the White Mask and Varré's Bouquet, combined with Infinite Respec, she could quickly deal high damage. As long as the Bleed abnormal status was inflicted, enemies would quickly retreat.
At the same time, Frieren cautiously glanced at player comments: Most mentioned messages like "White Mask is essential for Bleed builds," "the most aesthetically pleasing weapon," and "the entire Mohgwyn Dynasty is prepared for Bleed tactics."
The Tarnished were unanimous in their judgment: the Mohgwyn Dynasty, hidden deep underground, was a treasure trove.
It wasn't over yet. The [Remembrance of the Lord of Blood] in her hand had not yet been exchanged. So, Frieren, after a brief chant, used the Site of Grace in the temple to travel to the Roundtable Hold; it was merely a matter of a finger's flick at the Finger Reader.
In Melina's company, the silver-haired girl hurriedly entered the Site of Grace. As always, she was impatient, especially when it came to treasures like items and weapons; she was always in a hurry.
In a few breaths, Frieren returned. The biggest change from before she left was that she now held a massive trident, an awkward pairing with her physique. The weapon was identical to Mohg's.
What new treasure was this? Frieren felt the Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear was heavy even with both hands; her physical stats were barely enough to wield it, clashing with her sorcerer build.
She immediately used the new module to allocate more points to Strength, and only then did it feel much more manageable. The gap with her current build was vast, but its superior performance compensated for it. A quick glance earlier already suggested its formidable power, especially considering how its original owner had wreaked havoc, proving quite threatening at one point. More detailed information would likely show it to be even stronger.
[Mohg's Sacred Spear]
[A sacred spear destined to become the symbol of a new dynasty.]
[A ceremonial tool that grants cursed blood power and connects to an Outer God.]
[The Formless Mother craves wounds.]
[Weapon Skill: Bloodboon Ritual]
[The wielder raises the sacred spear, thrusting it into the Formless Mother's body. It can be thrust up to three times, each time triggering a blood explosion. The bloodflame entwined around the sacred spear will temporarily persist.]
Just holding it, Frieren felt an intense curse, but fortunately, the weapon's form suppressed its blasphemous nature. Furthermore, since the Formless Mother had been driven out of the Lands Between, it was safe to experiment.
*Thump!*
She raised the sacred spear, unleashing a circular curse. The affected Albinaurics immediately bled profusely, their skin tearing, and collapsed wailing into pools of blood, meeting their swift end. The Mimic Tear, in the midst of its hunt, cheered upon witnessing this, and immediately ramped up its killing, as if competing for efficiency.
"A mere Lord of Blood has become Mother's power."
Frieren stabbed a few more times. It was generally confirmed that as mana infusion increased, the area of effect also expanded, able to pierce through walls, rocks, and other obstacles, triggering a high-priority judgment that caused massive Bleed in lifeforms within the range, practically evaporating their HP. It was also closely related to the number of thrusts; the more thrusts, the stronger the accumulated damage, making it extremely lethal.
She had experienced it herself; the power was more than sufficient. The Blood Curse was indeed high-priority, wide-range, and highly damaging. Had it not been for the Dragonrot forcibly negating it, she would likely have faced certain death.
Of course, that was based on the standard of a Heroic Tier Astrologer account. Now, as a Divine Being, Frieren's resistances had increased across the board, and another fight would only end faster.
Unfortunately, she was too unfamiliar with the trident; usually, it could only serve as a Weapon Skill launcher.
"How is it?" Melina asked with concern, "Is there any residual power of the Formless Mother? Is it dangerous?"
"All cleared."
"Good. This weapon always gives me a sense of revulsion."
"After all, besides the Outer God factor, it has always belonged to an Omen. A legitimate Golden Lineage Demigod would probably feel repulsion."
"I've always wondered why Mother could give birth to Omens. Is it a curse?"
Frieren shook her head, noncommittal. The tangled relationships of the Golden Lineage were truly beyond comprehension; elven society was never this complicated.
So, she remained equally puzzled. The truth would naturally become clear once they reached Leyndell, Royal Capital. There was nothing to ponder for now.
Next, she began examining another peculiar incantation from the Remembrance exchange. Unlike any system she had already mastered, it should belong to the Blood-type abilities inherited by the Mohgwyn Dynasty.
[Incantation: Bloodboon]
[A holy incantation from "Mohg, Lord of Blood."]
[Thrusts a hand into the Formless Mother, then sprays the Mother's bloodflame forward, causing ignition. Can be performed while moving.]
[Upon meeting the Formless Mother who craved wounds deep underground,]
[Mohg's cursed blood transformed into flame—]
[From then on, he deeply loved his innate defilement.]
According to the description, this Omen was probably targeted by the Outer God during his time in the Capital, becoming a pawn under its enticement, or rather, they mutually exploited each other, until this very day when their twisted fate finally ended.
Frieren extended her hand, forming a magic circle. Then, with a wave of her delicate hand, a void totem seemed to condense blood, splattering and burning across the ground. A few more fallen Albinaurics turned into Runes, but this level of power could hardly be called formidable; its lethality was not much different from a general attack magic.
Incantation: Bloodboon didn't pose much of a threat even in Mohg's hands.
She ordered: "Thoroughly investigate all the texts and records of the entire Bloody Dynasty. I want all so-called Blood Pact and Blood-type magic."
Yes.
The Southern Army was already familiar with this. While clearing the battlefield, they simultaneously collected a series of documents and records, including but not limited to information on blood research, Albinauric cultivation, and underground world surveys. It also contained related incantation records, all complete.
Soon, several scrolls were handed to Frieren for her research: Among them, [Incantation: Bloodflame Blade] and [Incantation: Swarm of Flies] had been seen on Blood Knights, while [Incantation: Bloodflame Talons] was used by Mohg.
So many people had fought against the Blood-system army, yet no one felt there was anything particularly outstanding. Clearly, it was lackluster.
The value of Carian Sorceries continued to increase. To this day, Frieren's sorcerer build still primarily relied on it, both offensive and defensive, versatile, and applicable to all scenarios. So, she would at most keep Blood Magic as a collection.
The most valuable item was probably the sacred spear, and player comments confirmed this point:
[Identified as an electric wheelchair.]
[When in doubt, just poke. When pushing through maps, poke around corners too. You never know which unique enemy will pop up with a health bar and then immediately drop to zero. The range is so satisfying!]
[Poke with the Mimic Tear. As long as they get Bleed, they can't withstand it. The killing efficiency is too high; they don't even have time to counterattack!]
[A bit slow to attack, but the poise during attacks makes it not a big issue.]
[The Bloody Dynasty gives both divine artifacts and Runes! So touching! Today, I'll shed tears and farm Albinaurics a hundred more times, instantly making huge withdrawals!]
[Where are the three great wheelchairs of yore now?]
[Although Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear has had its stats adjusted, it can be compensated for to some extent through buffs. Moreover, its mechanical advantages can't be nerfed; its wide-range wall-piercing Bleed is still very useful, providing a great sense of security. And isn't it obtainable early?]
[Decided! I'll use you for shield-poking! Don't care if it's immoral or not, it's just fun!]
[This one practically guarantees you the Elden Lord title!]
[The most resilient divine artifact must be Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy's Blasphemous Blade, which restores HP on kill, deals noble Fire-attribute damage, and even got a talisman buff in the Shadowed Lands!]
[Dark Moon Greatsword disagrees. Its ranged poise-breaking is still useful. Carian treasures are truly Faith!]
It seems Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear indeed had power. What surprised Frieren was that she now possessed so many powerful weapons. Although there were mechanical differences, they were equally formidable in the real world.
So, the last remaining one is in the hands of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy? Volcano Manor?
That endlessly insane Shardbearer was a name she knew well, as few could torment the Capital to that extent, and he was still tormenting it to this day.
Forget it. We'll talk about it when we reach Altus Plateau. The immediate priority was to dispel the blood contamination and clear the battlefield, and Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear was most suitable for absorbing the power of Blood.
Frieren raised the trident high, and a runic totem enveloped the surroundings. The blood mist recoiled. Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear already possessed powerful dominion over blood magic. Under Frieren's active command, it absorbed the contamination entirely, and the pervasive bloody stench dissipated.
Even the world beneath the false sky deserved a clear expanse. The scarlet aura gathered towards the silver-haired girl's position and was uniformly collected into the ceremonial divine artifact, suppressed by Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. Handing it to the Soul of Cinder King for control was undoubtedly the best choice.
Afterward, she rested under Melina's care. On the other side, loud thuds occasionally echoed; it was the tireless Mimic Tear clearing out the remaining defeated enemies and harvesting Runes.
The strengthening of the prototype owner directly fed back into the copy, equivalent to a state reset and sublimation. So, it was enthusiastic.
Good.
The Southern Army, busy with cleanup, no longer had to worry about unexpected enemies.
Edgar ordered: "Pile all the Cursed Blood monsters together and burn them. Block off the stubborn blood pool contamination areas first to prevent leakage. Disperse troops away from the ruins; there's a constant risk of collapse here. Act immediately."
His decisiveness made the work more efficient. As expected, a series of landslides and earthquakes did occur. The aftershocks of several Demigods' battle still resonated. It even saved them the trouble of actively demolishing the stronghold, letting it crumble on its own.
Moongrum, at the edge of the deep pit, murmured, "Her Majesty's Gravity Magic has left permanent scars on the Mohgwyn Dynasty area. They will continue to collapse deeper down. This is to completely eradicate the contamination."
"How exaggerated. It's almost at the power level of Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, isn't it? Among the living sorcerers in the Lands Between, Her Majesty should be the strongest."
The Formless Mother's power was deeply rooted in this land, so they decided to stay a while. Frieren, meanwhile, was enthusiastically researching, likely planning a temporary stationing.
Rumble!
The continuous destruction symbolized the end of a grand campaign.
For ordinary soldiers, it was even easier; they just needed to transport the heavy loads and disassemble them, packing each component for transport back. Some siege weapons built on-site couldn't be moved, so they were destroyed to leave no hidden dangers.
Compared to fighting to the death with the Mohgwyn Dynasty army, this level of work was insignificant.
The Southern Army returned to the orderly rhythm of their siege life. Even the rumored terrifying underground world was not enough to frighten people.
With such a large opening in the sky, scattering the light of the Golden Order, there was a great sense of security. In a sense, they should thank the Formless Mother for its display of power in opening the underground and surface passages, allowing the Golden Order's light to shine into the Mohgwyn Dynasty. Otherwise, everyone's psychological pressure would have been much greater, and they couldn't have stayed for long.
They could feel the air was no longer cold, the temperature rising, and even the previously stagnant mana became active.
Melina, directly below the cavern entrance, reached out to feel the sunlight. She sighed, "The Great Liurnia Sinkhole, the Astel, Naturalborn of the Void's Fall, and the Great Caelid Sinkhole—it's all thanks to you. These geological marvels alone are enough for the people of the Lands Between to remember you for ten thousand years."
"A passage should be able to be built here."
Frieren had a sudden inspiration. She immediately put away Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear, picked up her staff, and began to ponder, simultaneously measuring and marking the construction site.
"You just finished purifying the blood contamination, and you can't sit still."
"If you succeed, opening up passages to the three great sinkholes would allow the South to fully develop the underground. Roughly calculated, this would allow them to control..."
Melina always considered things from the Tarnished's perspective. This way, the resources controlled by the South would gain an advantage. They could gain access to Night-type and Blood-type magic as supplements.
Not to mention technologies like Albinauric creation and Mimic Tear creatures; each could create an additional army. Knowledge would complement and promote each other, perhaps sparking unexpected inspiration.
Conquest always came with rewards, and Frieren surely anticipated the Southern Army's strengthening.
Remembering Morgott's interference this time, Melina was somewhat displeased. Indeed, the conflict with the King of Grace was sharp and irreconcilable.
"That's what I thought. Everything should be experimented with."
The silver-haired girl raised her staff high.
Whoosh!
Simultaneously, three Great Runes appeared at the tip of Frieren's staff, intertwining and overlapping, emitting an aura.
What big move was coming next? Noticing the mana fluctuations, the Southern Army members cast curious glances. They couldn't help but admire her; Her Majesty was simply too energetic.
There was none of the dejected atmosphere of the Lands Between's long-lived races. They couldn't keep up with her stamina. They knew without guessing that Frieren was about to conduct an experiment.
They couldn't help but stop what they were doing, watching intently as massive rocks ascended under Gravity Magic, building one by one into spiral stairs, reaching all the way to the opening. Solid and wide, enough for dragons and even siege weapons to pass through in large numbers.
Initially just a rudimentary form, it became increasingly complete, a spiral staircase spanning approximately a thousand meters vertically.
Too exaggerated.
Although the underground world only appeared distant and towering due to the illusory starlit sky, it wasn't actually that high. But reaching the surface would certainly require terrifying amounts of mana. Would it be enough?
The next moment, the power of the Great Runes infused the gravity staircase. The great power of the world's rules from the Elden Ring Shards permanently solidified it, revealing a long floating passage connecting to the surface. Faster and more stable than the lift at Astel, Naturalborn of the Void's Fall, its potential was infinite.
Even Frieren couldn't help but wipe sweat from her brow. Had it not been for the three Great Runes supporting the expenditure, she would have been panting long ago, unable to make precise adjustments. The real difficulty lay in combining them perfectly.
Very smoothly.
Suddenly, a sound came from another side of the distant underground world, seemingly the aura of Gravity Magic.
Melina gazed out and said, "It's in the direction of the Great Liurnia Sinkhole. Your power must have disturbed and weakened the gravity there. The underground world changes as a whole."
"Truly the power of the Great Runes."
"Look, we should be below the Caelid Flower Field area."
"Truly the power of the Great Runes."
"Look, we should be below the Caelid Flower Field area."
Pondering, her eyes gleaming, those familiar with her knew she had a new idea.
Frieren flicked her finger, and human flower petals fell from her fingertip onto the starting point of the stairs, instantly ascending the staircase passage.
Vines intertwined and firmly secured themselves, even rooting into the rock, interweaving to form an impenetrable structure. At the same time, they illuminated a thousand-meter-long ladder.
The bloody stench completely vanished, replaced by a fresh fragrance.
Exquisite and magnificent.
