Chapter 252 - The Ashbringer**

After that whole mess with Anderson, the Crystal Lake situation was quickly resolved.

The FEA officially took over the area around Crystal Lake. Headquarters is going to send agents to monitor the lake, and they'll be operating independently from the FEA system in Louisiana.

Seriously, those Wood House folks had already built the base, so the FEA agents just had to pack their bags and move in. You gotta be kidding me!

The Wood House organization had invested quite a bit around Crystal Lake, and now it all belongs to the FEA.

As a result, Roy also got a pretty sweet reward.

But Gerald still felt the need to give Roy a heads-up.

"Mr. Black, I have to warn you, now that Wood House has lost this base, they're definitely going to look into it. And once they do even a little digging, they'll quickly find out you were involved. No matter how the FEA tries to cover it up, they won't be able to!"

That's the truth. Too many people knew about Oak School's field trip to keep it quiet. Wood House will definitely be able to trace it back to Roy.

Roy had already mentally prepared himself for this.

"If they dare to come after me, they better be ready to have their teeth knocked out!"

The killing intent radiating from Roy made even Gerald, a seasoned agent, feel a chill.

"Ahem! Mr. Black, the Wood House organization is also an enemy of the FEA. If we get any intel, I'll let you know!"

"Then thanks, Mr. Orrin."

Because there were still a lot of things to sort out, the Oak School students ended up staying another night at the Crystal Lake resort and were finally sent back to Waterfall Town by the FEA on the morning of the third day.

Even though they were required to sign non-disclosure agreements, the field trip was supposed to be seven days long, and they were back on the third day. Their parents and families were bound to find that weird.

What's more, one person was missing when they got back.

Some rumors did start to circulate, but they were still manageable.

Luckily, that gym teacher, Matt Sanchez, wasn't a local, or things could have blown up even more.

Fortunately, the residents of Waterfall Town were getting busier and busier, which kept things from escalating further.

The tourism season was really picking up, and students with bigger plans had to start their final push. Even the ones who weren't planning on college had to think about what they'd do after graduation.

There was one exception though: Roy was still lazing around all day.

Well, it wasn't exactly doing nothing. On the night he got back to Waterfall Town, he completed the Ghost Wolf bloodline fusion ritual for himself at Sawyer Manor.

The ritual was a complete success. Death, surprisingly, didn't interfere. Not only did all of Roy's physical stats increase by 5 points, but one of his special abilities also got an upgrade.

**[Special Ability: Defiant One upgraded to Ashbringer!]**

**[Ashbringer: Angel, Demon, Vampire, Werewolf - you travel further and further down the path of ascension. Death and destruction will accompany your life, and only ashes will remain in your wake.**

**Passive Ability: You can now fuse the positive energy, negative energy, and bio-energy within your body into chaos energy. Chaos energy can be used as the energy source for all your abilities.**

**Active Ability: You can now freely transform into demon form, angel form, or ghost wolf form.]**

Roy tested out the ghost wolf form. This new transformation primarily boosts agility, with incredibly strong burst power. It's especially potent when used with Assassin's Heart.

Plus, the ghost wolf's recovery ability is really strong. It can heal faster by drinking blood and also gains night vision and a super sense of smell after transforming.

Most importantly, the physical changes in the ghost wolf form are the least noticeable of all his forms. Only his pupils change to a bright blue, like he's wearing colored contacts, and they glow slightly. Otherwise, he looks pretty much like a normal human.

Anyway, Heather and Penny really liked this form, so their bloodline fusion rituals needed to be scheduled too.

It would take a few more days though. The bloodline fusion rituals Roy did on himself were pretty rough since his physical condition could handle any adverse reactions.

But Heather and Penny were different. They had normal human bodies, so he needed to carefully design and optimize the ritual process to make it as safe as possible for them.

For this, Heather and Penny rewarded Roy handsomely.

Heather dressed up as a nurse, and Penny was in a police uniform. They used their different outfits to tempt Roy.

I gotta say, it was way too tempting!

No one could resist that kind of temptation. Roy immediately turned into a raging ghost wolf and had his way with the nurse and the cop.

All night long, Sawyer Manor echoed with wolf howls, scaring all the little critters in the area.

Only Elurelsa was getting more and more curious.

Elurelsa: What kind of game are Daddy and Mommy playing? I want to play too!

But the next day, when they were heading back to town, Roy had a bad feeling because Samantha stopped him on the road.

Seeing the police chief looking sharp in her uniform, with a serious look on her face, Roy's heart sank.

Samantha must have found out about him and Ashley.

No way around it. Even though Ashley rested for a day at the Crystal Lake camp after Roy, well, you know... because of the, uh, size of things, she still wasn't fully recovered and was limping a little when they got back to Waterfall Town.

Even though Ashley made up an excuse, saying she got hurt on the field trip.

But Samantha, who knew the signs, could see the change in her daughter's face and the way she was walking.

So, Samantha specifically sought out Roy.

"Roy, I need to have a serious talk with you."

Feeling Samantha's stern gaze, Roy couldn't refuse.

"Okay."

Samantha got in the passenger seat of Bumblebee. She didn't say anything right away but took a few quick breaths, like she was getting herself ready for something.

After a moment, Samantha got right to the point.

"Roy, did you sleep with Ashley?"

There was no point in lying at this point, and Roy wasn't the type to avoid responsibility.

"Yes."

Samantha's face fell a little, then she seemed somewhat relieved, but she quickly masked her emotions.

"Roy, I know Ashley probably made the first move, so I don't blame you. But I hope you'll be good to her from now on and not hurt her, okay?"

Samantha knew her daughter too well. She knew that once Ashley decided on something, she was very determined.

Even if Roy hadn't done anything, Ashley would have come knocking on his door herself.

So Samantha didn't blame Roy. She just figured Ashley's personality was too much like her own.

"I definitely won't let Ashley get hurt or sad!"

Samantha sighed softly.

"Ashley's father died young, so she grew up without a father figure. That's why she can be so rebellious. I really hope she can be happy, so sometimes, I hope you can forgive her for being a little headstrong."

Hearing this, Roy looked a little odd because Ashley was incredibly well-behaved around him, only really getting competitive with Jennifer.

Those two girls acted like they had a vendetta from a past life, always competing in everything.

But after the Dybbuk Box incident, their rivalry wasn't as cutthroat. It became more of a friendly competition.

"Samantha, don't worry."

Samantha didn't see the look on Roy's face and just nodded silently.

After that, the atmosphere in the car got a little awkward.

Then, Bumblebee, that socially oblivious silicon-based lifeform, started playing the radio again on its own. And it was still that cheesy love song station.

This made the atmosphere in the car even more awkward.

Samantha's cheeks flushed a bit. She couldn't handle the awkwardness and quickly opened the car door.

"Roy, that's all I wanted to say. I hope you and Ashley can be happy together in the future!"

With that, Samantha practically bolted out of Bumblebee.

After a moment, Roy squinted at Bumblebee.

"Bumblebee, can you please not play the radio on your own anymore?"

"I thought it would improve the atmosphere."

"But you always make it even more awkward!"

Bumblebee was silent for a moment before replying.

"Human emotions are just too complicated. I still can't understand them."

"Then can you at least wait for me to give you a signal before you play the radio?"

"Okay, Mr. Black."

After his little chat with Bumblebee, Roy went to find Jennifer and Niddy.

Even though the field trip ended early, the school vacation was still on, so there was no school today.

"Niddy, did you find anything?"

As soon as Roy walked into Niddy's room, he saw her sitting at the computer with dark circles under her eyes.

"I still haven't found any useful information in the Wood House data. There's just so much of it, and my computer isn't powerful enough, so the search is super slow."

Roy felt a pang of sympathy for Niddy, seeing how exhausted she looked.

"Niddy, didn't you sleep last night?"

As soon as Niddy heard that, she thought, "Oh no."

"I did get a little sleep... hehe."

"Roy, Niddy didn't sleep a wink last night! She's been up all night!"

Unfortunately for Niddy, Jennifer ruthlessly called her out.

This made Roy very angry.

"How could you not sleep! Listen to me right now, forget about this stupid data and go to bed immediately!"

Niddy stuck out her tongue, looking like a kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

"Roy, I know I messed up! But I also have some good news for you - some findings about Silent Hill!"

"Oh? Tell me quick!"

Niddy opened a special browser and typed in a website address.

"I tried searching the regular internet for those criteria you gave me, but I couldn't find anything like it. There were only a few places with similar names. So then I looked on the dark web for information about Silent Hill and finally found something useful. Check this out!"

The webpage showed a news clipping about a fire that happened in a town called Silent Hill, which led to an underground coal mine fire. The whole town was affected, and the residents had to relocate.

Roy remembered that the backstory of Silent Hill mentioned something like this. The stuff that floated around in the overworld of Silent Hill, like snowflakes, was actually ash from the underground coal mine fire.

Looks like this is the place!

"Niddy, this has to be it. Did you find the exact address of this place?"

"I searched through tons of information and found that this city isn't even on the map! Maybe it's on some old paper records, but it's not online. But I did find some other useful stuff!"

Niddy paused here, a smug little look on her face, like she was waiting for Roy to compliment her.

Roy wasn't about to deny Niddy a little reward, so he booped her on the nose.

"Niddy, you're amazing!"

"Hmph hmph hmph! You got that right!"

"Spit it out, or I'm gonna spank you!"

Hearing that, Niddy playfully covered her backside and gave Roy a flirty eye roll.

"I looked up information about the fire and the mass relocation and finally found out that this news came from a city in Maine (it was written as Pennsylvania before, but I corrected it). The city is called New Centralia. It must be that after the Silent Hill fire, the residents of the city all moved to this new place!"

Maine? That's not too far from Boston, Massachusetts.

"Is there a detailed map?"

"New Centralia isn't very well-known, but I did find a map. Look!"

Niddy pulled out a map of Maine from her drawer. She had circled the approximate location of New Centralia in red.

"I figure even if the residents of Silent Hill moved, they wouldn't have gone too far. Plus, we should still be able to find people who used to live in the old Silent Hill around there. The fire was only twenty years ago, after all."

Roy took the map, glanced at it, and then patted Niddy on the head.

"Nice work, Niddy!"

Niddy happily nuzzled her hair against Roy's hand, feeling like her all-nighter was worth it.

"But you really need to sleep now!"

That made Niddy's face drop immediately. She was still buzzing with excitement, there was no way she could sleep.

"Roy, can I sleep later?"

Niddy started to plead with Roy, and Jennifer couldn't help but jump in.

"Niddy, staying up all night long will mess with your skin. You don't want to get wrinkles early, do you?"

That was the ultimate weapon against a girl. Niddy immediately gave in.

"But I can't sleep right now. Roy, can you hold me while I sleep?"

"Of course!"

So, Roy held Niddy and lay down on the bed. Neither of them did anything else, just quietly enjoying each other's warmth and presence.

Soon, the excitement wore off, and Niddy calmed down. Her breathing slowly became deep and even.

"And she said she couldn't sleep. She was out in less than ten minutes."

Roy looked at Niddy with a helpless smile and held her for a little longer until she was completely sound asleep before letting go.

"Roy, Lilith wants to talk to you about something."

"Lilith? Then let's go talk in your room."
