Chapter 251 - Chapter 249: Another Smiling Man Gone from the World

"Of course I understand what you mean, Mr. Black!"

Gerald couldn't have been happier to hear Roy say that, so he put his arm around Roy's shoulder with great enthusiasm.

"Don't worry, Mr. Black! I'll go handle Anderson from headquarters, and you go tell Rivera the details."

"Did Sultana come too?"

Roy turned his head to look for Sultana, and saw her talking to Elizabeth.

"Of course! How could I not bring Rivera?"

"Alright, then I'll go find Sultana. I'll leave the rest to you."

Roy winked at Gerald and then went to find Sultana.

"Really? Was Roy this clueless in school?"

Roy originally thought Elizabeth and Sultana were talking about the Crystal Lake incident, but he didn't expect them to be discussing his embarrassing moments.

At this, Roy could only interrupt their conversation with a dark face.

"Ahem!"

"Roy, you're here!"

Sultana saw Roy coming over, her eyes lighting up a bit.

"Sister Sultana, Mr. Olin asked me to explain the details of the incident to you."

"Okay, Ms. Hale has already explained what happened at the resort. You don't need to go over that part."

Roy and Sultana went to a quiet place where he explained in detail everything he saw and heard in the underground base, including Jason's several mutations and the cultists on the island in the middle of the lake.

The only part he didn't mention was Carrie's dream.

Carrie was still on the FEA's wanted list, and Roy didn't want her to get caught by them.

"It's this complicated?"

Sultana's expression went from initial excitement to seriousness in the middle, and finally to solemnity, fully demonstrating her change in mood.

The complexity of the Crystal Lake incident was indeed comparable to the previous Devil's Late Night Show incident. The mysterious organization, the cabin, Samiel's cult, and two forces were intertwined like a tangled mess.

Even more terrifying was the mysterious presence at the bottom of Crystal Lake, which could even block Elizabeth's senses.

"Sister Sultana, there's one more thing I must remind you of!"

Sultana noticed that Roy's expression was particularly serious. She rarely saw him like this, so whatever he was about to say must be very important.

"The most dangerous thing about Crystal Lake is actually something very dangerous at the bottom of the lake. I think that's the real reason why the cabin built a secret base here!"

Just a killer like Jason definitely couldn't support such a large research base.

"And also, that small town across the lake definitely has problems too! Sister Sultana, the entire area around Crystal Lake is dangerous. You'd better not get too involved!"

Sultana felt Roy's concern, and her heart was instantly filled with sweetness.

"I know! I'll be careful!"

Roy put his hands on Sultana's shoulders and pressed his forehead against hers.

"It's not about being careful, it's about staying as far away as possible! Even I feel that thing at the bottom of Crystal Lake is very dangerous!"

Roy had even initially considered not telling the FEA about the thing at the bottom of Crystal Lake, because telling them wouldn't solve anything anyway.

But if he didn't say anything, he was afraid the FEA would mess things up and cause an accident for Sultana.

Sultana nodded.

"I understand. I'll seriously consider this."

Having said what needed to be said, Roy started flirting with Sultana.

Although the two had only met last month, for people in love, that time felt far too long.

"Oh, right, Roy! Don't you owe Athena a favor?"

While they were chatting, Sultana suddenly mentioned a female vampire who was eight feet tall.

Roy's mouth twitched. He did owe Athena a favor from the Slender Man incident. If Sultana hadn't brought it up, he would have almost forgotten about it.

"What did she say?"

Sultana gave him a strange smile.

"Athena said you abandoned her and her three daughters and that you're a complete scumbag, and told me I'd better stay away from you."

That's too vicious! Absolutely too vicious!

"Sister Sultana, you don't believe her, do you?"

"Hehe, guess!"

Roy began to suspect that Sultana had made up the part about him being a scumbag, and that Athena hadn't said anything like that at all.

Just as he was about to properly interrogate the dishonest little lady, Agent Anderson, the one who always had a forced smile, suddenly interrupted Roy and Sultana with a few people.

"Mr. Black, I have something I'd like to talk to you about."

Roy looked at Anderson in surprise.

"What do you want to talk to me about?"

"Some classified matters that aren't suitable for others to hear."

Anderson glanced at Sultana, clearly indicating that the young lady was one of the "others" he was referring to.

Talk then, Roy gave Sultana a look and then turned to Anderson.

"Okay, where do you want to talk?"

"Just any empty cabin will do. What we need to talk about is very simple."

Anderson once again showed that signature friendly smile, which looked more and more fake the more Roy saw it. He really wanted to punch him.

Roy restrained his impulse and reluctantly followed Anderson to an empty cabin nearby.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they entered, the agents behind Anderson closed all the doors and windows of the cabin, then pushed Roy into a chair, pulled over a table and a lamp, quickly setting up what looked like an interrogation.

Anderson turned on the lamp and shone it in Roy's face. The blinding light made him squint.

"Mr. Black, you'd better answer the following questions honestly, so we can all avoid any unpleasantness."

Several agents all drew their handguns, cocked them, and pointed them at Roy.

This was definitely an interrogation, and not a normal one!

At least the police wouldn't pull out guns and point them at a suspect's head during an interrogation. If this kind of interrogation method were sued afterwards, they'd have to pay a fortune!

Only spies and agents being interrogated were treated with such disregard. Interrogators could use any means to force a confession because spies and agents were not protected by international law.

There wasn't a trace of panic on Roy's face; he even had a faint smile.

"Agent Anderson, I'm curious, does Mr. Olin know what you're doing right now?"

Anderson still had that formulaic smile on his face.

"Of course not, because this is a secret investigation initiated by headquarters against Gerald. From the beginning of March to the beginning of April this year, Gerald Olin has repeatedly transferred money to your studio under your name. Is there a secret transaction between the two of you?"

Roy was stunned for a moment. He hadn't expected Anderson to be investigating this.

Gerald had clearly told him that it was normal employment fees and intelligence fees, and that everything was handled cleanly, even the taxes were paid. How could it have attracted the attention of FEA headquarters' investigation?

Was this someone trying to frame Gerald, and Roy was just collateral damage? Or were some people using this as an excuse to cut off his connection with the FEA?

A name instantly popped into Roy's mind: Amalgamated Technologies.

Coincidentally, both Roy and Gerald had a grudge against Amalgamated. It was quite possible that Amalgamated was trying to deal with them in this way.

He just didn't know if it was some high-ranking FEA official who had taken money and sent Anderson as a pawn, or if Anderson himself simply wanted to be Amalgamated's front man.

After figuring out these connections, Roy's expression became even more relaxed.

"Those were all employment fees and intelligence fees. Aren't they all clearly marked in the accounts?"

Anderson's face changed. His originally friendly expression became extremely fierce, but Roy didn't see any killing intent in his eyes.

This guy definitely came from an office job. All his expressions were superficial and lacked any genuine feeling.

"You'd better confess honestly, so you can suffer a little less!"

Roy gave a mocking smile.

"Who exactly instructed you to come and cause trouble for me? If your level isn't high enough, go ask someone with a higher level. That way, you won't say such stupid things!"

Anderson's expression stiffened. His rank was indeed lower than Gerald's. After all, he was just a senior agent, not a director.

But some people always mistook the authority given to them by others as their own, and Anderson was currently in that situation.

After being sent by FEA headquarters to be a commissioner, Anderson really thought he represented headquarters and had enormous power.

"Looks like you're planning to resist to the end!"

Anderson gave the two agents behind Roy a look, and they immediately prepared to take action.

One of the agents tried to grab Roy's head and slam it onto the table, but Roy easily dodged.

The other agent tried to hit Roy's temple with his gun, but Roy grabbed his wrist and gently twisted it.

With a crack, followed by a scream.

"Ah—"

The agent's arm was broken on the spot, and bone fragments had already pierced through his suit sleeve. This scene stunned everyone present.

Anderson was clearly very flustered. The interrogation techniques he had just used were completely learned from movies. He hadn't expected Roy to go off-script, and now he didn't know how to handle it at all.

However, the two agents behind Anderson seemed more experienced and immediately raised their guns, aiming at Roy.

"Bastard! Let go of James right now!"

Roy gave a bloody smile.

"And if I don't, what are you going to do about it?"

The two agents hadn't expected Roy to be so bold, and since Anderson hadn't given any orders, they didn't know what to say for a moment.

At this moment, the agent who had just tried to grab Roy's head and missed tried again to restrain him, but Roy raised his chair and pressed one of its legs onto the agent's foot.

"Ah—"

Another scream.

This agent endured the pain in his foot and tried to attack the back of Roy's head.

Roy couldn't tolerate this. He grabbed the agent's hand, pulled him down, and then used his own foot to step on the foot that was being pressed by the chair, applying a little force.

There was another crack, but unfortunately, this agent was already in too much pain to make a sound.

With the situation having turned into this, the two agents behind Anderson finally couldn't help but pull the trigger.

Their intention was originally to fire two shots to scare Roy and regain the initiative, and they hadn't aimed at Roy's body.

But Roy's reaction was extremely quick. He directly pulled over the agent with the broken arm and used his body to take the bullets.

Two muffled sounds, and blood splattered out.

Now things had gotten even bigger!

Bang!

The door of the cabin was kicked open, and Gerald entered with his agents.

"What are you doing!"

Gerald's face was ashen as he swept his gaze over Roy and Anderson.

Roy spread his hands out, looking completely innocent.

"I was just being interrogated by Agent Anderson. He thinks there's a secret transaction between you and me. I objected to this, and he tried to torture me."

Hearing this, Gerald roughly understood what had happened.

It was just that the interrogator who had used torture had a broken leg, a broken arm, and two bullet wounds. Who could he complain to?

Anderson finally came back to his senses at this moment, stood up, and glared at Roy.

"You actually resisted law enforcement and even attacked FEA agents!"

Roy crossed his legs, looking completely unconcerned.

"You guys attacked first. I couldn't just let you beat me up, could I?"

Anderson was trembling with anger and was about to continue to accuse Roy when Gerald suddenly interrupted him.

"Agent Anderson, I think you need to answer my question first. Who authorized you to secretly investigate Mr. Roy Black!"

Gerald had been so polite to Anderson before because the other party's status as a commissioner had played a role. He didn't want to cause trouble.

But now, it was clear that Anderson was trying to mess with him, so Gerald wouldn't be so polite anymore.

"This is an Internal Affairs mission. You don't need to know!"

Anderson forcefully made up an excuse, which made Gerald even more dissatisfied.

Many organizations had such internal investigation departments, mainly to prevent internal corruption.

But unfortunately, the main purpose of most of these departments was to eliminate dissent.

"Agent Anderson, should I call the head of Internal Affairs right now and ask if he gave the order?"

Anderson was silent. This attitude already explained the problem, but this guy definitely didn't want to admit defeat just like that, so he continued to argue.

"Between February and March of this year, you transferred tens of millions of dollars to Roy Black's personal studio. Can you explain this?"

Gerald's face darkened even more. Anderson being able to know this information could only mean one thing: someone in the Los Angeles branch had betrayed him again.

Roy even started to feel sorry for Gerald. If it were him, he definitely wouldn't be able to continue being the director.

Gerald took a deep breath.

"Every single one of those payments was reported to headquarters. If you don't know the reason, it's simply because your rank isn't high enough!"

Of course! Roy had helped Gerald solve so many cases in Los Angeles, and the FEA had also gained a lot of benefits after the cases were closed.

Whether it was the corpse of the ghoul, the corpse of the Slender Man, the ashes of the hell demon, etc.

These things all had tremendous research value. Otherwise, why would the FEA be so generous with money?

It's just that all of this was top secret information for the FEA. It was estimated that only people at the director level had the authority to access the data.

"That's impossible! You must be lying to me!"

Anderson tried to remain calm, and then he saw Gerald make a phone call.

A few seconds later, Anderson's satellite phone rang, and a voice came from it.

"Agent Anderson, you're fired!"

Hearing this, Anderson collapsed to the ground. Another smiling man was gone from the world.
