Lin Mo walked into the pachinko parlor and made his way to the back rooms. Passing through a series of glass curtains, he finally arrived at a quiet, private room.

Wakako was seated in her office chair, a steaming cup of tea on her desk. The noise and chaos from outside seemed to fade the moment they entered, and the atmosphere inside lightened as if the mist in the air had taken the tension with it.

"Please, take a seat, child," Wakako said, gesturing to a spot on the side.

Following her gesture, Lin Mo saw a low table and two cushions near the wall, seemingly set up for their arrival.

"Thank you, Madam," Lin Mo said, sitting down without hesitation.

North Kawahiro, more reserved, looked at Wakako's expression before bowing in gratitude and sitting next to Lin Mo.

"Wakako must know why I'm here, right?" Lin Mo said directly.

Wakako nodded slightly, her face warm and welcoming. "Of course, I know. Everything is prepared. Take a look at the goods."

She opened the drawer of the desk and pulled out a transparent bag.

Inside was a liquid-filled container holding a spinal-shaped metal piece and a small tubular "part" inside.

"By the way, I forgot to mention earlier. You've been following the news, right? The two hijacked Dinara company transport trucks—besides the Sandevistan Type 3 you need, there's something else you might be interested in," Wakako said, placing the bag on the table and pointing at the spine-like machine with her frail, twig-like finger.

Lin Mo's eyes narrowed. "Kronczikov?"

"That's right, and it's the latest model. You should know, Sandevistan and Kronczikov are like two brothers, complementing each other. I'm sure you won't let this opportunity pass," Wakako said as if she had anticipated this.

Lin Mo thought for a moment, then nodded slightly in acknowledgment.

Only then did he recall a passage from the simulator's description:

[Your reaction attribute's limit has been broken.]

At the time, he had been confused. After all, while the Sandevistan implant enhanced reaction and thought speed to incredible levels, it didn't have the ability to permanently increase the user's neurological reflexes and upper limits—that was the function of implants like Kronczikov and Synaptic Accelerators.

Now it made sense. Wakako had given him a pleasant surprise.

"I'll take it. How much?" Lin Mo asked.

"I can give you a discount, child. With the balance and this Kronczikov, I'll charge you 50,000 euros. What do you think?" Wakako said with a warm smile.

Lin Mo agreed to the price, his eyes glowing with a blue light as he transferred the money to Wakako.

"Pleasure doing business with you, child. You're the most straightforward person I've ever met. I've always been satisfied doing business with you," Wakako said, her gaze softening.

Lin Mo reached out, feeling the cool touch of the liquid in the bag. He looked at the two implants inside, excitement surging within him.

At last, he had obtained these two implants that would greatly enhance his strength!

As Lin Mo examined the implants in his hand, Wakako cleared her throat a few times and politely said:

"Child, while I understand your excitement over your new toys and would love to chat and have some tea with you, our client doesn't have much time to wait. You've seen the attachment I sent you this morning, right?"

"I've seen it. A naïve girl went out for a night with classmates, didn't return, and now her worried parents are urgently asking you to investigate. I've summarized it correctly, haven't I?" Lin Mo opened the message channel and started reading through Wakako's message while speaking.

Wakako nodded. "You've got it right, but the task has changed."

Lin Mo's eyes sharpened. "What happened? Did her parents find their child?"

The task had changed in just one morning?

No, if they found the child, the mission would have been canceled. Based on the simulator's records, her parents should have changed the mission from a search to a rescue operation.

While Lin Mo was thinking, Wakako suddenly placed a data chip on the table.

"Take a look yourself. This is the clue her parents got from her classmates," Wakako said.

Lin Mo took the chip and inserted it into his chip slot.

Soon, a chat log appeared in his mind.

[Susan: Did your gathering really allow young people to enter for free?]

[Unknown Sender: Of course, miss. Our gathering will offer free drinks and food. Young people can exchange experiences or share work insights. The main goal is to expand our network, and this gathering has been approved by the NCPD. Any concerns?]

[Unknown Sender: Picture]

[Susan: Let me check if it's far.]

[Unknown Sender: We will advance 20€ in travel expenses for any young person who wants to attend, showing our sincerity. If you're still unsure, you can come with a friend.]

[Susan: Where's the location?]

[Unknown Sender: North Watson Industrial Zone, Sanhua Motel. We're here from Thursday to Saturday, every night.]

Lin Mo looked at the message log and clicked his tongue. "Tsk, such an innocent and naive girl. It's a shame about her. But that NCPD approval is a bit fishy, it's even forged so officially," he said, feeling sorry for the young girl.

He pulled out the chip and handed it to North Kawahiro, who had been silent since entering the room. Kawahiro took the chip without a word and inserted it into his own chip slot.

"Are you two working together now?" Wakako asked, noticing the exchange with curiosity.

Lin Mo didn't answer directly but nodded.

He believed Wakako wasn't so senile that she wouldn't recognize a familiar face.

North Kawahiro had made a request through her before, and a key point of being an intermediary was remembering the clients' faces.

"Not bad. For those on the edge of the street, most will team up for assignments. It's safer and more beneficial for mutual growth," Wakako said with a smile.

Sitting nearby, North Kawahiro took out the chip, bent down slightly, and said, "Lin-kun, I've finished reading. No issues."

"This mission has been altered, and the reward has increased. If you manage to rescue the person, you'll get the full payment. But if the kidnappers' strength exceeds expectations, don't push too hard. After assessing the situation, you can withdraw, and still get a small reward."

Wakako calmly explained the mission details.

"Time's of the essence. We should head out now. If everything goes according to plan, we should have the result for you by tonight," Lin Mo said, standing up to bid farewell.

Wakako nodded kindly. "The sooner the task is completed, the more satisfied the client will be. I won't keep you. I wish you both a safe journey."

Lin Mo nodded, leaving quickly, followed by North Kawahiro as they exited the pachinko parlor.
