June
My heart fluttered, dimming the surprise of my father showing up here. I had kept up a stern expression, with a little smile here and there. Deep down, I was furious. It was bad enough that he didn't stand by me when Axel had taken everything from me. Now he wanted to ruin me some more by talking down on me. I had a mental note to remind myself I wasn't like my father. Everything he has ever done was just an extension of who he was.
Whispers stirred, some smirked, others leaned forward eager for spectacle, but I knew better. I had kept my chin high, but my chest held on to the knot, keeping my breath clogged.
My father's gaze narrowed. "Fiancee? Or a conquest? Don't pretend Stark, I know men like you. You chew women up and leave them in pieces. I won't have my daughter ruined."
