"Please calm down, Dr. Bruce. Being in the same department as Dr. Smith, you will be seeing each other frequently. If you have a conflict with her it will be difficult to work together."
Putting on an appeasing grin, he walked over and said, "On my account, could you please let her go? If word gets out that you are treating a woman like this, won't you feel ashamed?"
"Dr. Ziegler, I can do so for your sake, but she has to apologize to Zoey," Clement persisted. "I will not allow anyone to slander her in my presence. Otherwise, not a single soul can help you to escape my wrath."
