Iris was still smiling as she said, "Rebecca, don't I treat Joanne as my own daughter now?"
Rebecca was momentarily stumped by the question.
On the contrary, Iris was aggrieved and turned to look at Yana as she said, "Am I treating Joanne badly? I thought that every time I traveled around with Joe, I would prepare a chic and expensive gift for her, and every time I attended a party, I would bring her along with me, and would tell my group of sisters that she was my most beloved niece, but I didn't think that Rebecca would think of me that way."
As she said that, she also meaningfully squeezed out a couple of tears, and looked quite sad.
Unbeknownst to her, a cold smile spread across the corners of her mouth behind Rebecca's back. If she dared to push her grandson, a light apology wouldn't be enough.
She was soft-hearted, but she wasn't a pushover. She was protective, and her two beloved grandchildren were aggrieved.
